NeoGAF & ResetERA - The Hilarious N̶e̶v̶e̶r̶e̶n̶d̶i̶n̶g̶ Splintering "Gaming" Forum Circus

I'm surprised still they cared more about his role in Yooka Laylee compared to his voice role where he actually speaks in A Hat in Time.
Well, Yooka-Laylee released relatively soon after the "incidents" that made them want to ruin him, and that effort succeeded (as far as appeasing them goes, the blowback from that did a number on the Playtonic's reputation). A Hat in Time released nearly a year after the "incidents", the attempt to force his removal was an utter failure, and I think that "Showergate" overshadowed the whole thing.

Really, it wasn't that they cared less, they just don't want to talk about it because they failed to get him removed.

One small dissent in that one aspect of idea is not all that new, but the fact only Soret's game has gotten these idiots chimping instead all that used the same theme before it just heightens the hypocrisy.

Soret may be using UBI and deconstructing it, but media taking the idea of a lazy society encouraged to be indolent because they are provided all they want instead of working for it has been covered before.

Aldous Huxley's Brave New World covered this theme that removing all reason to strive for something leads to a craptastic world, but he just replaced income with a society specifically tailored to be the wet dream of modern day IDPOL types.

His world was one where everything was highly automated, society was designed to slot everyone into a niche, and people were allowed to fuck who they wanted and indulge in drugs that kept them docile and happy, but in exchange creativity came to an end.

The protagonists are those who realize this kind of world, while nice on the surface, it's really a joyless world of hedonism and pointlessness. People have no reason to have ambition and are discouraged from showing any, so the world has no high culture, no ideals, and no progress towards anything better, and most have their urge to care drowned in sex and drugs, while those that do care realize they live a world where any creative urge they feel is not only ignored, it's regarded with contempt.

As for vidya games, Chrono Trigger had a major subplot where a magical kingdom thrived in a society of laziness and complacency because they had all their needs fueled by magic, most too happy with their cushy lives to dwell on the fact their source of power was a Cthulhu they were slowly awakening the more they took advantage of it, and by the time they realized their mistake, most of them died.

Star Ocean 3 had a big twist where it's discovered the known universe is a big MMORPG played with by another universe, and the people said other verse are so busy with this they don't notice or care that why they are enjoying themselves, their batshit leaders can exercise all sorts of ridiculous power over them and the people of MMORPG verse and they are ignorant of the atrocities said leaders are doing because they are too addicted to being lazy fucks.

Basically, Soret isn't so much covering new ground as he's taken ground visited before and applying it to the sacred cow of the very hedonistic shits autistically screeching about it and daring to show why their Paradise is really Inferno in disguise.

If you want to go to the lowest cultural denominator, fucking WALL-E had this too. Okay, Pixar movies have always been slightly higher on the intelligence scale to straight Disney, but it's still Disney in spirit. Humanity has their ark and all their needs cared for as they suck down various sugary beverages in a cup, they don't appear to need to have sex to procreate, and they hit golf balls in virtual reality.

And in the end, the only reason Soret's on blast is because he said UBI by name. His story, along with all the ones we've mentioned, have one thing in common, a simple question at the heart of it all: "What happens when you no longer have to fight?" Modern day, our "fight" is working at a job so we can buy food that someone fought against the land itself to produce. What happens if you take away that fight? That's the question Soret is asking, and The Last Night is providing one possible answer out of millions of possibilities.

This autistic sperging between Geth and me? This right here is why we're a better gaming forum, just the two of us alone, then NeoGAF and ResetERA ever will be. We understand story telling, and we get the point that people are aiming for. Members of ResetERA traded in their working brains for a pack of chewing gum and that's why all you can hear is them "mooing" like good little cattle.

You said exactly what I've been trying to say and in better, shorter words. Why is speculation and discussion wrong to these people??

If I told you guys I was Ketkat would you believe me?

I'm Lime.

Because it's an echo chamber made up of people who lack the emotional maturity to deal with anyone challenging their stupid worldviews.

Tim Soret could spend all his free time saving babies from burning buildings and it wouldn't matter because he said something they didn't like in the past that one time. If you tried to bring up the fact that the 'world where feminism won' tweet was never proven to be real or that he apologized and went back on all the other tweets they'd either simply shift the goalposts or just ignore your comment entirely because you're clearly an alt-right troll for even daring to defend the guy.

This thread is about a video on a lying video game score champ. Tranny chaser attempts to derail it by calling out the video maker. When asked for proof, he provides none.

I just realized I've probably seen hundreds of screencaps of Neogaf/Resetera posts and not once have I seen a post that says "hey guys this game is awesome and I like it.

You get banned for those for derailing the political discussion by not finding something utterly idiotic to get mad about.

You said exactly what I've been trying to say and in better, shorter words. Why is speculation and discussion wrong to these people??

I will quote my favorite English Professor-there are two kinds of fiction, commercial and literary. Commercial exists to sell, Literary exists to speak about the human condition. People who only read commercial fiction have not experienced the incredible highs and the lowest lows that literary fiction can provide. NeoGAF and ResetERA are the epitome of only reading commercial fiction. Commercial doesn't challenge you. The heroes are good, the villains are bad, and good beats evil. To speculate is to imagine a world where the villains, the bad guys, the evil darkness, could potentially win. Their minds literally cannot comprehend why you would want to speculate and discuss such a world. Is commercial fiction bad? No. Far from it. But when it's all you consume, you willingly seal yourself into the echo chamber.

So to further prove my point, The Last Night wants to speculate on what happens to the human condition when all fight has been removed. They literally cannot comprehend why you would want to do this, so they shut it out. It is evil because they are afraid of it.
