Fallout series

I like Fallout 4 and New Vegas equally, but for different reasons.

New Vegas had the better stories and setting, but I do enjoy Fallout 4's gameplay and settlement building.

I do wish that Fallout 4 had NV's faction reputation system.
In terms of environment / story, I liked Fallout 3. Maybe it's because it was the first time I played a game like that, but I liked the open world adventure of just taking off in a direction and finding something.

New Vegas was clearly the better RPG. The complex story lines and interactions between various people and factions. I mean some of the stuff going on in the casinos you’d need a guide to figure out.

The thing I disliked about New Vegas was the lack of random encounters / combat. You could walk from one end of the map to the other without finding a single person to fight.

Fallout 4’s world was beautiful, the game play mechanics were great, but really nothing you did had any real impact on the world.

F4's ratings for both the base game and DLC are rapidly dropping on Steam.
Automatron being rated positively is insane considering how garbage that DLC was. Really glad I pirated this turdfest.

That mod looks spectacular.

Speaking of which, happy tenth anniversary FO3!
It's really been 10 years?

I remember driving all over town trying to find a copy and ended up getting it at this local place called Hollywood Video that had a subsection for selling games.

The neckbeard at the counter told me it was awful when I bought it

Well, I've been playing Fallout 3 on the Xbox One. This time around, I'm doing an unarmed build that will later utilize a big gun like Eugene or Vengeance to take out far away enemies. I found a unique power fist called Fisto!, and it does a great job at punching heads off, but I'm looking to build a deathclaw gauntlet so that I can shred through robots and Enclave soldiers.

So far, going unarmed is a fun and unique playstyle, so much so that I will do an unarmed character for my next playthrough of New Vegas. Not gonna lie, it feels great to be back in the Capital Wasteland, which is still an awesome place to explore even ten years later.

So, given that every Fallout game suggests a plot point in a future installment, what exactly has Fallout 4 given us?

  • Fallout 3 and The Replicated Man quest introduced us to the institute
  • Fallout 3 also prefaced the Nuka World DLC
  • Fallout: New Vegas mentions that Robert House was an esteemed engineer for the Cambridge Institute
  • MacReady (Fallout 3 minor character, then Fallout 4 companion)
  • MacReady Mentions something about his son being ill, the disease being of unknown specification

I'm not sure if 4 mentioned any particular place like 3 did, probably because of Bethesda wanting to work on a couple of new IPs before the next Elder Scrolls and Fallout games.

Holy fuck, the gap between 4 and the next Fallout is going to suck ass. Here's hoping for a spinoff from another developer like Obsidian or Arkane to tide us over.

I am currently maintaining like two committed playthroughs for New Vegas atm and am planning on starting a third. I forget how replayable this game is.

If not we always have 4NV.
