We actually don't know exactly what he's done, because much of it is not a matter of public record.

Regardless, my point was that there is not necessarily a 1st Amendment issue with restrictions on social media use being imposed, and this is in fact routinely done under certain circumstances.

Uh...isn't that exactly what I was saying? Those are specific stipulations relevant to his past misconduct, not broad bans on all social media use.

He could have been charged but put in a mental health diversion program. However, if he keeps resisting treatment, he might find himself indefinitely committed.

Bingo. I recall initially when you suggested that months ago I was skeptical and thought the timeline was too fast, but him ending up in the forensics ward and referencing his "aggressive behaviour" in a video after his most recent release has changed my mind and led me to suspect that's exactly what happened.
 
I have no idea how the Washington state court system works in regards to people with severe mental illness, but perhaps his records are sealed and that's why we can't find anything?

I would wager he finally tried to rape a young woman, and she either maced him, or he had the worst choice of victims and picked the black belt in Krav Maga. Either way, he ended up in lockup, but his ranting about telomeres got him shuffled to the forensic unit and here we are. If he keeps violating the terms of his released, they can dump him in a hospital for long-term care, or if they're feeling particularly nasty, they can try to resume prosecution and argue he's competent enough to stand trial. I might be wrong on that last bit, perhaps @AnOminous or another legal Kiwi can say for sure.

You'd be correct. Any Mental health related judicial system involvement fall under the HIPAA Law.

And finally, you have Mental Health Courts. Which automatically hide and protect the defendant if proven to be suffering from mental illness and is voluntary depending on whether or not the Attorney pursues it.

They should institutionalize him solely on the basis he keeps falling for the same trick over and over. Someone that dense is a danger to themselves as well as others.
