Most A-logged Characters In Fiction. - A surprisingly prevalent phenomenon.

I'm surprised no one has brought up the amount of hate Ron from Harry Potter used to get. It's rare now but back when Harry Potter was on-going the hate he would get from shippers was amazing.
Part of it was his movie portrayal, part of it was Rowling wrote a pretty poor character that, upon ANY examination, is pretty shit and selfish. And part of it was her last book had a poor early midsection. Ron is a shit friend though.

Relena from Gundam Wing. How dare she get in the way of Heero's one and only true love, Duo!

I never understood what the hell was supposed to be wrong with her. But the HeeroxDuo fantards were absolutely livid that she had the nerve to exist and muck up their yaoi OTP. They hated Hildy for the same reason because she could be seen as a possible love interest for Duo. Although if the show was new today I think they'd take one look at tomboyish Hildy and decide she's trans. That might solve that problem.

I actually liked Hildy. I thought she was a cute and fun character.

Steve Urkel comes to mind. When I was a kid I thought he was hilarious. But now I cannot stand him. He ruined the whole dynamic of the show and turned it from a family sitcom to some goofy slapstick sci fi show that looked like it belonged on Nickelodeon. And people just kept eating it up. I imagine that after Urkel became the prime reason to watch the show's audience was mostly children. It had to have been. Because with every season it got worse and worse and more sci fi.

He would have worked as an occasional character that you saw a few times a season. He was originally supposed to be a one shot character playing a bad blind date for Laura. But his nerdiness stole the show and ratings talk. Maybe the show wouldn't have lasted as long without him. But then again it went on so long that the original Harriet left and had to be replaced. When that happens it's time to just cancel.

Get over yourself. Brian was a shitty awful character. And when they revived them because they were to pussy to do something different, he intentionally gave Steele Herpes, Was a horrible neglectful parent with Dylan and became a running obsessed freak. He sucks. I'd rather someone shit in my face and make me watch the massacre of innocent people in Afghanistan than watch Brian Griffin once again. ESPECIALLY when Brian died.

Fargoth from Morrowind got a shit ton of A-logs for a reason I will never understand. Guy had mods made where you could kill him over and over again.

It got so bad Bethseda invented Gaenor in the Tribunal expansion, who was basically an actual asshole you couldn't really a-log because he was someone who was a total sack of shit to you and basically looked like Fargoth's brother.

say what you will with Brian, but he's practically a saint (loosest terms) in comparison to Quagmire

It may be likely that this is their first anime because Mineta in some ways reminds me of Ataru Moroboshi in some ways. I imagine Tumblr would have a shitfit if they ever watched Urusei Yatsura.

Why would Tumblr have a problem with Urusei Yatsura? The Nazi-themed "Third Reich Decadent Coffee Shop" at the high school cultural festival in Urusei Yatsura the Movie 2: Beautiful Dreamer is in no way problematic!

the amount of hatred the entire Weasley family got was astonishing

if you're unfamiliar with 'Weasley bashing', there's the assumptions of one or more of the following
1) Dumbledore paid Molly to get Harry's attention at Platform 9 3/4
2) Molly planned to give Ginny love potions (or did do so) so Ginny could drug Harry to get his money
3) Ron was paid to be Harry's friend
4) Ron drugged Harry to make Harry...not into Hermione or something like that

and all of their negative qualities were ludicrously exaggerated

sometimes it would be restricted to just Ron, Ginny, and Molly, but sometimes it would include all of them, even Arthur, possibly the least offensive character in the whole series.

Insane Harry/Hermione shippers were the biggest promulgators of Weasley-bashing. They also enjoyed Dumbledore-bashing, which is more justified because of his legitimately shitty canon actions, but in doing so they turned an interesting, flawed, occasionally morally ambiguous character into a flat evil one who poisons children with candy.

As much as we tend to rag on TV Tropes, the have a whole trope name for the fan’s treatment of Ron: “Ron the Death Eater” which is the inverse of “Draco in Leather Pants” with turns Draco into a poor misunderstood innocent person wrongly vilified(most of the time by Ron).

I’m also pretty sure I’ve made this post before...

I'm still waiting for them to discover Ranma, by the same author. Rumiko Takahashi DGAF. She just gets rich.

The waifu wars over the Witcher series are some of the a-loggiest nonsense I've ever seen. It's primarily split between book fans who consider Triss a backstabbing, manipulative rapist who took advantage of Geralt while he had amnesia (some of the hardcore haters think she deliberately extended his amnesia to continue banging him), and the game fans who think Yennefer is an obnoxious, nagging harpy who abuses Geralt and is only with him because a genie decided to troll the both of them by forcing them to stay in a relationship.

For the first year or so post-release /r/witcher got derailed into 500+ comment flamewars over either character to the point where mods just started banhammering the worst offenders and locking any thread that even remotely touched on that discussion.
