It could be the king of hate hd channel. The channel is actually still up but due to Phil being Phil and not accepting youtubes new ToS for that channel its content is blocked in US so you need a vpn / proxy to see it I suspect the videos you're referring to could be

Why doesnt he just "play" this grass simulator game or better put on a blackscreen for maximum "interaction"? Sometimes I think he just plays games to call himself a gamer to reach an easy audience. He could also occasionally kick a football on stream and call himself a former college football starplayer but in reality hates sports - and sells smelly shoes.

I'd go with the old accepted logic that fans or 'detractors' are informing DSP of these things & then he reacts, rather than him searching them out. Random current example: DSP fucked up the notifications for the 3rd time this month: 1stly in Heavy Rain's 'premiere' (~2 hours of gameplay, ~3 hours of stream then about 10 minutes before break he pauses & gets them showing again), 2ndly Call of Duty: World War II on Monday March 12th's late stream (no one told him, no notifications ever showed up) & 3rdly for PUBG last night.
Since I was dealing with the tips and saw this live, I made a comment in Tevin's Twitch chat during the stream at about 20:40 PDT. 20:45 PDT we finally see a cheer show up, and notifications appear as normal from that point. Since no one noticed for CoD but did notice for PUBG within minutes of me mentioning it elsewhere, it implies someone then pointed that out to him.

As those were all over $5 & DSP didn't fuck up his notifications they showed up just fine, so there's those 3 you mentioned from March 13th's Bully stream, plus the other 2 visible tips (one right after prestream, one randomly after break).

PUBG did 'well' today, better than some recent PUBG streams but still well under the heights it's hit before. Tips wise ignoring the 2 December 30th fundraisers there's been one stream with over $300 in tips & 4 with over $150 in tips out of 36 dedicated PUBG streams so far. It's also a good showoff of how terribly Burnout Paradise did, like Heavy Rain & Bully before it.

Note I'm only tracking visible $5+ tips. I've mentioned oddities like the $49.37 tip during the Heavy Rain stream without notifications & the $5 & $10 tips according to income spam for the CoDWWII stream without notifications, but not added them to my total.
This is a good time to mention my numbers are always low, with the exception of cheers which should be pretty accurate. Subs don't have to hit the share button & cause a notification I can track, e.g. January peaking at 560+ subs yet I only tracked 415 subs. Tips there were always some under $2 and now $5 that wouldn't appear on screen & I didn't track them. I'd expect DSP is at more like $800, perhaps $900+ in tips during March when you add those in.
Monthly tips totals through the 16th, only February is really comparable since it's also $5+ & only if visible on screen:

September: ~$1825.56
October: ~$268.50
November: ~$924.69 (Closest we'll get to accurate, this was the month Nightbot announced tips.)
December: ~$931.13
January: ~$816.57
February: ~$971.91
March: ~$656.99

It's only thanks to the $140+ in tips during PUBG last night that March is just over 67% of February... if that stream had none of those $5+ tips, it would be barely over half the amount at 53%. Despite complaining about needing tips for these looming tax payments, the money isn't flying in yet.

A simple black screen or a simulator game won't work since Phil's commentary alone isn't enough to carry the stream. He is simply too boring and there are too many topics he avoids for various reasons. That's why it's so funny when he calls himself an artist because of transformative work when playing a video game. But take the video game away and there you have your "art".

He lacks the education and charisma to be entertaining without playing a video game. He is a shut-in who doesn't know about the outside world, and if he does it's mostly pop culture references from the 80s and 90s. He doesn't talk with people online on the same level, he always needs to have the high ground. And he got so paranoid about trolls and detractors that he prefers talking at people without allowing them to talk back.

TL;DR: Gifted subs are on a similar pace to February, as are cheers and subs money total. Infinite_55 has bought his/her way into a modship by contributing nearly 20% of the overall cheers. Just over 60% of the subs are re-subs, which is why Phil's total numbers are still in the 430-450 range. One upside for Phil this month is that there shouldn't be the massive dropoff seen last month courtesy of the end of gifted subs, but he also probably won't hit 500 without a similar surge in gifted subs.

This is also your friendly reminder to resist the urge to troll tip or cheer. That stuff does add up. Also, it looks like I'm missing a few subs, so I'll review that.

I doubt it and I think Phil doesn't expect it either since I haven't heard him shilling a goal the way he did the shower video.

That could very well be true. It's also true begging videos could make a comeback in the future for stuff like that
 
Probably depends on how soon he gets the sub money since he's looking to get money fast. That's why he's been pushing tips hard, as he can withdraw those much more quickly. He also sorta gave a ballpark of what his state back taxes might be. He gave a hypothetical of $5000. At the tax rate of 1.5%, that works out to the ~$100,000 or so of taxable income (assuming no deductions at the state level--no idea if that's right) per year, more or less. And that's roughly what it seemed like he made.
 
One meme about the taxes that I don't think has been discussed is that the IRS allows you in some cases to list your state taxes as a deductible. This includes both state income and sales taxes.

I think so. If he got a refund that’s taxable income. Speculation on that kind of stuff is really hard without knowing a lot more than we do now.

Again speculation. Probably not. But it means his bill isn’t on the “lose my house” level but more on the “stop eating out for a couple of months” level. I’ve been day drinking so I’m not gonna try to figure out every deduction but here are his big write offs:

Mortgage interest
Property tax
Home office deductions
Charity (lol right)
His vidjya games he plays on stream (this is going to get him audited for real one day)
State taxes

He also can’t get more in refund than he paid in.

Tl;dr - he probably maxed his federal returns so more deductions won’t help

Just for funsies, I looked up Phil's "beastly" K/D on https://my.callofduty.com/wwii/stats/recent?username=darksydephil&platform=psn

A whopping 1.24 K/D, ladies and germs. Now, to be fair, that number is skewed a bit upwards b/c of 3 matches on March 10th where he had K/D above 2.6. What's kinda interesting is that, based on the chart the website provides, Phil's performance goes back and forth. He'll be above 1 in one match, then drop precipitously below 1 for the next match. Seems like he gets cocky when he does well (hard to believe, I know), and then get trucked in the subsequent match..

Edit: From the weekly report, "Fired 11,689 shots total and landed 21% of them, the most accurate single week in the last four". Fucking hysterical given that last night he talked about how good his aim was in CoD:WWII.
