Kurt is on the fucking warpath. He's also starting to reach Brianna Wu-levels of Twitter addiction. It's getting hard to keep up.
Jim was right, the Kurt Curve is a real thing and he's getting exponentially crazier as time goes on. At this rate he may even write a 45-part Twitter rant on why the moon landing was totally faked.
Ben Shapiro posted a email he just got from Kurt

Eichenwald has proven my earlier point. He has utterly deluded himself into believing he's the hero no matter what.
I have to wonder why Kurt keeps trying to intimidate people with emails behind the scenes, considering that every time he's tried in recent memory the receiver has published the emails on twitter and told him to fuck off. Maybe Kurt really is unable to comprehend that the internet is a different beast, and is treating all of these situations like he has some kind of leverage like he might have had when he had a real job.

That's assuming his wife or kids still speak to him.Jesus, Kurt. You’re so full of shit, I could smell it coming from the email.
Serious question. Sine Kurt lies so much, does he have to tell his wife and kids he hates them every night? I don’t think he’s said an honest word sine the child porn case.

Alright, I've read through these emails more thoroughly and I have a few comments:
- If Kurt actually did consult a psychiatrist, then it's very unprofessional of them to attempt to diagnose a person they haven't even spoken to. Or I guess it's possible that the psychiatrist said something like "This may be what's going on, but I can't say for sure unless I actually speak to him" and Kurt passed his opinion along as fact.
- Kurt was apparently so disturbed by Ben Shapiro's actions on Twitter that he consulted a conservative rabbi in an attempt to understand his actions. What the fuck, does Kurt have a repertoire of professionals that he consults whenever someone hurts his feelings on Twitter? I love how Kurt's so obviously trying the "appeal to authority" tactic to get Ben to do what he wants. As if Ben gives a shit if some rabbi in Texas wants him to atone for his Twitter sins.
- "And don't forward this to Kyle. He does not need to know what a psychiatrist is saying about him. You've hurt him enough." Aka "I probably went over a line by having a psychiatrist psychoanalyze a kid he's never met before and make assumptions about the kid's mental state, but I'm going to pretend like you're the bad one if you tell the kid I've been talking shit about him behind his back."
- In what way would Ben Shapiro be responsible for the actions of his followers, especially if he condemns those actions like he just did? Also, for fuck's sake, Kurt, install a fucking gif blocker or use Twitter's built-in one if you're so concerned about having an epileptic fit. If you've already done those things, then you're not in any danger, are you?
He really is pulling from the Brianna Wu twitter playbook:
- Always be the best/most knowledgeable/FIRST at everything, but in reality be terrible at it
- Have a plethora of unnamed head mates that prove your point
- Double down when proven wrong
- Bait trolls into attacking you, and cry you’re being harassed
eichie boi said:The final would have been constructed to avoid exactly what Ben did. With real reporting: You start by asking questions, on the assumption that professionals wont publicize things that can harm people. I once dropped a 3 month investigation because there was no way to avoid harm.
Kurt didn’t consult a psychiatrist. There is a real hard, Literally on the books rule in psychiatry called the Goldwater Rule. A Psychiatrist absolutely cannot give an evaluation or professional opinion on a subject they have not met. Especially not for purposes of Journalism. Doing so can swiftly lead to loss of license, it’s that serious of a professional violation. It stems back from the election where Barry Goldwater challenged Lyndon Johnson. The Washington Post sent a survey to thousands of psychiatrists asking if Goldwater was crazy. Only about 3% responded, but of that 3% about 80% of those who answered said yes Goldwater was certifiable. Without ever meeting, examining or in any way interacting with him. The Post spun this to 80% Of psychiatrists think Goldwater is crazy, and Barry lost the election. Goldwater then sued everyone involved and won big time. It was felt to have deeply damaged the psychiatric profession, thus an absolute hard Rule was created. No opinions on unexamined people. Especially no opinions involving the media and politics! No exceptions! There is currently a Harvard Psychiatry professor facing the standards board for pulling the same stunt regarding Trump.
So yeah, no psychiatrist would have talked to Kurt about this. Would you risk your professional license to help Eichenwald Attack a high school shooting survivor? And once again Eichenwald is a fully trained and educated journalist with decades of experience. He pretty much has a professional obligation to know about the Goldwater Rule for Psychiatrists and Psychologists. It’s well covered in journalism schools.
