TGWTG "Nostalgia Critic" / Doug Walker, Rob Walker, Mike Michaud, Mike Ellis, Holly Christine Brown, et al - The Incompetent Predator-Protecting Upper Management of Channel Awesome, Doug Still Not That Funny

I think the oldest producers left on the site are Brad,Sage and Erod(and this one was never that big,anyway.).
Also, kinda funny the current wave of exodus is only happening because they got confirmation the 10th anniversary film has been canceled...

Jackula basically says there were assholes on all sides, and it's pretty believable. Linday and the Chez Apocalypse crowd sound like they were pretty combative.
I totally believe that there were assholes on both sides. Nothing about Michaud sounds good, nor has he tried to defend himself, but so are a lot of the CA crowd. Spoony as a whole has shown himself to be completely irresponsible at best, Linkara has a track record of being a complete asshole, Lindsay has a track record of being a complete asshole. If I were in Michaud's position, I'd leak verifiable stuff on Linkara and Lindsay, the latter probably has a whole bunch of skeletons in her closet.

That is a good question, what point is there to the Channel Awesome site now? Back then it existed when youtube didnt see the value in reviewers and would just obey strikes

The answer is: none. None at all.

The best plan of action I could see for Channel Awesome is that they could become sort of a "promotion website" for small content creators. They exist solely to help showcase small content creators on websites like YouTube or elsewhere. They help these content creators got popular, and once those content creators find success and popularity they are released to continue on their own and new content creators are brought on to the site to be promoted.

But even that has it's issues and would likely fail at some point.

Used your list to cut together all the Mike Michaud parts from those 'FilmFellas' roundtable discussions:

One of the guys in that video (Anish Savjani) went on to produce Green Room and I Don't Feel at Home in This World Anymore. Mike conned Doug and ran their website into the ground.

Make of that as you will.
Doug is apparently at EmpireCon with Brad today. Oh to be a fly on the wall at that panel.

Predictions? Hopes?

I think the panel will be rammed, but Doug will just get bombarded with protests, and awkward questions until he starts freaking out, either having people removed from the hall or just walking.

I hope Brad just laughs his arse off at the whole thing.
I live in New York, and it might have been worth it to make the drive to Syracuse today. Maybe I would've asked him how it feels to have a bald autismo grabbing him by the balls.
It's from the December issue of 2009. I only remember this because Doug made a joke about his face being on the cover in one of his reviews--my mind's saying it was the Patch Adams review, but I can't remember.
IIRC, it was the Jack Frost review.
the best thing doug could do is apologize for his hubris and create a new IP and bring his fans with him

Is Doug arrogant or really naive and deluded? I realize there isnt a sharp difference between these states but what do people think?

My guess is either :autism: or a personality disorder.

My bet is on autism. I herd Doug is a really strange person.

Amazing how it always comes back to people being uncompromising and hysterical about Gamergate.

It's like that shit nobody cares about now that will never leave.

Alright, looking through it I don't see the Doug himself has done anything wrong other than have really bad judgment in friends 12 years ago and giving away the rights to the show to Mike, Who is misogynist and has solicited sex. It's not like Doug raped anyone or killed Jew Wario.

Though he probably should have looked up how to make a movie before failing

Yeah I'm more inclined to Dias Michaud more, cause he made most of those dumbasses decisions, even letting Doug sperg out on set was his idea (since he let the walker Bros direct) Mike is the one everyone should give the most ire. But lupa doesn't care cause the drama sustains her I guess.

I don't know if I would let Doug off the hook completely. While a large portion of this drama stems from Michaud, let's not pretend Doug is squeaky clean either. He still had a hand in essentially what is now fraud with the IndieGoGo campaign. Also if he did know about the alleged sexual abuser on the site and did nothing about it for a long time, that isn't a good thing in anyway.

Is Doug the worst person in this? No.

Does that necessarily make him a good person? Not exactly.

was what they did with the indiegogo fraud? i doubt it, i think whats more likely is they went way in over their head with no chance to deliver on what they wanted to do with how little they got

remember what they were trying to deliver was over 150 separate episodes on 90k which i think i saw somewhere was like 600 bucks a show...being the sperglords that they are they over promised and under delivered

Essentially yes, it is fraud. They promised a product, raised a whole bunch for it, the product never materialized as promised, and it's widely speculated and been all but confirmed that the money went elsewhere.

I understand completely that they may have gotten in over their heads with this campaign. It's understandable with what they were promising. But if that is the case, they should of refunded the money donated to them immediately when they realized that couldn't hold up their end of the bargain.

Not returning the money makes their campaign a genuine scam.
