To quote Charles Darwin, "Ignorance more frequently begets confidence than does knowledge". Eli probably thinks he can overcome any challenge, because he doesn't realize how bad things could get.

As for language barriers, there are many Israelis that speak English, and they probably think Eli is just a dim-witted tourist.

Why bother sending Eli money to come back home? So he can eventually get his fool self killed in the US, rather than in the very near future in Israel?

No, because getting Eli home would destroy Jace's plans...whatever they are. Remember: Jace is on record as saying his conspiracy theories about Al-Gamerfood would be proven 100% correct if Eli dies. So therefore, shit will hit the fan if Eli does not complete his mission but returns to the states alive.

Aha, I thought people felt sorry for Eli (as I said, he can get killed in a rocket attack in the near future, or he can break his neck attempting some stupid stunt down the line, so protecting him from himself is pointless).

If you guys just want to piss off Jace, who am I to tell you what to do? :oops:

We felt sorry for Eli a bit in the beginning, at least some people did. But then he was revealed to be just as ignorant, stupid and racist as the rest of Deagle Nation. I don't know what people were expecting.

I hope Eli gets home as soon as possible. But if he ends up pulling a stupid stunt and possibly getting in trouble, that's on him.

The stages, at least for me, were:
-This is a ruse Eli and Tyce set up to scam Jace out of an Xbone.
-Holy shit, he's actually there! But probably capitalizing on a visit to relatives.
-OMG he ACTUALLY WENT on his own! I hope he gets his ass to the embassy.
-WTF Jace! You're trying to get your friend killed? Seriously, wtf dude.
-Eli, you racist fuck. If you start shit, you deserve what you get.
-Eli? Who's Eli?

The funny part is that Jace was the first person to reach that point.

At first everyone thought it was just a ruse, that Eli and Tyce couldn't possibly be that stupid. We were wrong.
