It's possible that the Bronycon staff are hesitant about letting Chris attend, due to his reputation. It might be the cause for his strange behavior recently.

I love how despite everything in his life going up in flames (financial problems, Barb's declining health, legal troubles, etc.), his biggest concern is still his stupid fandom. "Who cares if I can barely pay the bills, as long as I can attend BronyCon and have the respect of other autists on the internet, I'm good!"

Nope, Chris was fine and well behaved last con, and spent money. They want Chris to show up, especially if there are weens paying for tickets as well.

It's actually kind of poetic and sad, in a way.
Chris life is in shambles, no matter how you look at it. He lives in a shitty, dirty house, with his dying mother, only managing to barely scrape by through very limited financial support of the government, and Patreon.
That, as well as countless issues going on behind the scenes. Who knows how shit his life is, beyond what we know? Chris is still very much a man-child who thinks doing light gardening equates to a hard day of work, and now that Bob is gone, and his mother is an empty husk, he will have to deal with all the stressful paperwork that comes with having a mortgage, insurance, and medical bills to pay.
Right now the entirety of his mind is occupied with wanting to relive that short little visit to BronyCon where he could for the first time in many years (since he was banned from The Game Place) be surrounded by people who share his interests, and actually be recognized and approached. That brief visit was probably the most real life socializing Chris has done since his expulsion from PVCC.
Chris is getting older, fatter, and his life is getting harder, while he still clings onto his Love Quest, and hopes that some sexy woman will come out of nowhere to support him. But to be honest, I think Chris knows that will never happen. He clings onto the fantasy, and lets the trolls take him for a spin, not because he doesn't know they're trolls, but because the fantasy is good enough for him, even if it's fake.
With Barbara soon dying, and Chris life about to take its darkest turn yet, since the death of Bob, he probably realizes that this years BronyCon will be the last chance to experience his life as it is now, before everything falls apart.

The tugboat and fan donations still have him buying nice toys and stuff. It's not like he's close to starving or going without essentials.
Chris has IRL friends who share his interests. BronyCon was more about getting attention from fans.

It goes deeper than that, in his one "future message" video, recorded on his 25th(?) birthday (iirc it was that one) he suggested that boys should play with MLP dolls to "better understand girls".

Bronies are top tier autists. Basically, any fandom that Chris joins the other autists get wary because where ever Chris goes, his equally autistic weens also follow him. Most Bronies want to keep their fandom positive and don't want the negative attention that Chris brings due to his fan base.

Yeah but I think he'll plateau at a much later age than most cross dressing millenials because of he is actually a nice person deep down in inside who just makes fucked up decisions and still manages to come out on top more often than not. That's part of the appeal that draws people to him.
