The british police and british courts are absolutely fucking useless when it comes to large scale suppression of speech, especially on the internet. Just look at the fucking superinjunctions debacle. They spent so much time and money ordering social media sites to take down embarrasing info on rich people and desperately trying to hunt down the millions spreading it anonymously the whole law fell apart. Similar shit happened with "video nasties" despite full government crackdowns.

There's a reason that they went after Dankula like this, and it has everything to do with the mismanagement we've seen from the EU over the last few years. You might not be aware, but while the Police has been aggressively trying to prosecute people for mean tweets (giving everyone outside the US more than adequate reason to make fun of them en masse), they've repeatedly allowed extremist Muslim groups get away with murder (figuratively and literally). While this embarassment of a trial is going on, Police Scotland decided not to prosecute a ring of pakistani men who were running a child sex slavery ring. While the UK screams about a need to stop hate speech, they allowed thousands of children to be raped and let those who did so be unpunished.

Globalism is killing the UK, and everyone fucking knows it. Not a week goes by without some new horror-story emerging from the EU about how uncontrolled immigration is leading to say, Truck of Peace attacks, and at the same time, the UK (like the rest of the EU) is ignoring the basic needs of its citizens in favor of yet more immigrants, who, they hope, will give them permanent majorities.

Going after Dankula was for two reasons: To try to hamstring the inevitable populist backlash by making clear they could (and would) target anyone who dares oppose their narrative even tangentially, and to flash their bonafides to their would-be supporters. Unfortunately for Police Scotland, their doing so only raised visibility and ensured that more people would get aware of it - and, in turn, that more people would proceed to haze the ever-loving shit out of Police Scotland's Twitter, as is proper.
