Is save/load system even necessary for a DEMO? Call me old-fashioned, but demos I played were simple, contained maybe half an hour to hour of gameplay and DIDN'T HAVE A SAVE OPTION. Why would they? They were just small portions of the game, there wasn't a need to save, because you could finish them in one sitting.
A demo containing just Osana, would provide how many hours of a game? If you know what you are doing, not even one, I suppose.
Given that everyone knows that the game is a glitchy, unstable pile of spaghetti, the lack of save feature at Kickstarter launch would be a red flag so big that it would make the Soviet Union proud.
For games that have only simple state and only let you save at the hub, like for example most platformers, save feature is so trivial to implement that it can wait until the end. For a
game with a complex saveable state, well, I'd prefer to know that the saving and loading work correctly before spending a single penny on it.
And the fact that you will be able to finish the demo in ten minutes doesn't change that.
This post is going to get a lot of thunkful ratings, I'm sure, but am I the only one who thinks he sounds at least somewhat reasonable here? His main argument makes sense: the point where Osana is implemented is the point where YS stops being a debug build and becomes a full demo, which raises certain expectations. It doesn't excuse that he's taking so long or how much money he's absorbing unbeknowst to most of his fanbase, but it does explain why he's focusing on so many other features instead of Osana. Last time I checked, killing Kokona in the game as it is right now is piss easy.
That doesn't change the fact that Alex is a fraud or that his code is a big plate of spaghetti, but it somewhat justifies his approach I think.
Yeah, even if you ignore the fact that the game is shit, it is also very incomplete. And a proper demo has to properly demonstrate (hence "proper demo") that all the basic elements of the game (not mechanics, elements) are working. So, launching the game, changing options, playing the game, saving the game, a tutorial, multiplayer if the game is supposed to support it, and so on. Simply speaking, people have to know if the dev team is even capable of delivering most of their promises.
But on the other hand, he promised Osana ages ago and constantly said that she was just around the corner. Osana would work just like Kokona does. But of course he's not putting her in now for "reasons". And who the fuck knows what new excuses he'll invent after he finishes the save feature.
I have a perfect excuse for you, Alex: if you put Osana in, either now or after you do your to-do list, she will suck, because this game will always suck, so you can't add Osana, so the game cannot be ever released. Here. Maybe this excuse will be enough to fool the grandchildren of your current fanbase.
Mods are removing comments now too lmao and btw Alex disabled comments on all of his videos to avoid criticism as well.

Fuck the subreddit mods, they are the greatest cocksuckers.
EDIT: Shitload of typos.
