Looks like he is going to try to calm down the fanbase after the latest video. Taken from today's bug-fixing blog post.

(Also first post here, sorry if I messed up the image or link!)

Welcome!

Paperthin story and fetishes wouldn't really be a problem if he embraced the anime-meme game label. But he takes it seriously, and he wants you to take it seriously too as a compelling stealth game inspired by the Hitman series, while still not having an alternative currency to pantyshots. He makes these illustrated "Story focus" videos fully narrated and voice-acted giving away all of the lore, but if you look just at the text it reads like fanlore posted on his reddit page someone made up after watching Kakegurui.
I do not recommend the show, but it's funny how similiar it is to the game, if you subtitute gambling for murder, it's all fetishes, edge and the final boss being the all powerful family that owns the school, with their daughter being a white-haired Student President and some really bland characterisation all around, and being a top elite school while having gun-wielding crazy students walking around. But it's trashy fun that embraces what it is, and doesn't try to justify why things are the way they are.
Kakegurui is at least somewhat self aware. I doubt anyone involved with either the anime or the manga took it at face value for even a second. The entire premise is ridiculous over the top fun.

In fact, YS would improve a lot if Alex took the tone of Kakegurui rather than trying to make the game serious

Also Kakegurui S1 came out on schedule

Welcome welcome!

Oh, no, Eva, what are you doin'? :stress: He should be used as a negative studycase in PR-classes. Just put work into your game and let things calm down on their own. Don't announce that you're delaying progress once again for a response video.

There is an almost infinite amount of case studies of what not to do that could be generated from Yandere Sim.

The sad part is there probably is a really fun game and story somewhere in this mess, but YanDev is obviously the wrong person to put it all together. He lacks raw creative drive, which is obvious because there's a lot of evidence to support the fact that he might not even care about Yandere Sim anymore. Anybody who'd rather stream RAGE than work on their supposed Magnum Opus clearly doesn't care about their "work"

And apparently a new video is coming out in 3 days, more fun to ourselves
I'll come here more often, this is getting interesting.

How much do y’all bet on this new video will finally send Yandere Dev to the grave or it’ll redeem him? lol

Seriously, I expect the second the video comes out, it’ll have disabled comments.

If he’s so worried about “ E D G Y T E E N A G E R S “, he should just censor 3 quarters of his fanbase.

P.S. I highly doubt Yandere-kun is coming out any time soon... ;-;

Responding to a lot here so forgive me for some of the :late::late::late: in the spoiler below

This is the first time Alex has revealed his true colors on YouTube. He should've kept his whiny attitude and lolcow personality to Discord and Reddit, which are usually populated with his white knights who don't care what he does as long as he delivers a shitty update every five weeks.

The thing is, with the Jiyu drama, only people in the Discord really knew what was happening. The Discord only has a few hundred members - not even a dent in Yandere Simulator's fanbase. This Osana video and its comment section (or lack thereof) are being shown to hundreds of thousands of people. YouTube is where he gets most of his support from, and now that a large number of people are finally realizing what a whiny little edgelord he is, the Patreon bucks are probably going to drop.

Looks like his annoying fans DID end up harming the game's development after all!
Literally, the only thing people have asked for since he came out with the rivals is Osana or rival related, they didn't want any of the shit he's added in the past year. He really should just stop and scrap everything he fucking has and start over, it's completely worthless at this point.

This youtube drama in 3 words is "he fucked up".

it depends on how Alex will go from here on. If he opens it again, the fans would praise him for it but he is too coward to do that. If he doesn't then oh boy the shit will start piling up. Alex main source of criticism was (ironically) the youtube comments, many of his videos are random ideas that he throws and waits to see if people like it and if they don't he gives up (remember when Ayano fought yakuzas and murdered kittens?).

Discord? Alex will insta ban anyone who dares criticize him there.
Reddit? Alex can't power trip so he hates everyone there.

He probably won't take ANY fan input in consideration anymore, which will lead to fans getting angrier and more vocal, which will leads to Alex also getting angrier and potentially chimping out against his own fans.

The last point is honestly the "healthiest" way for Yandere Simulator to be finished. If he stopped seeking praise from people and just did his own thing he would actually probably have a chance at getting away with this bullshit. Knowing Alex, however? He'll probably be stubborn and just continue to shit on his fanbase until he runs out of patreons :optimistic:

He deleted the tweet, LOL

Everyone was blasting him in the replies so I'm not surprised

I knew he would do that, which is why I archived it when I did.

hh im new

Welcome to the farms!

When did 1o hours turn to 13? This guy is lying out of his ass. And if he really was working 13 hours a day, explain those 3-6 hour streams.

Good luck with that, Alex Mahan. You already pissed them off, and I can't wait to see you piss them off more.

Archived.

Don't announce that you're delaying progress once again for a response video.

This is why Alex is a dumbass. He doesn't think on the consequences of his actions. I'm going to laugh if he says something like "stop bulling me, stop harrassing me" and victim blaming his entire fanbase in one video.

If the comments are closed on the wordpress too, we're probably going to see either a lot more new kiwifarmers or people doubting Alex. He's limiting his communication with him, and truthfully that's just going to bite him in the ass in the future.

NOW for the reason I came on: Dev responded to the emails I sent on alts.

email 3.png
email 4.png

I removed the emails and names I used since they aren't even necessary to the information within.

He responded to them both around the same time. This is in EST, and I sent them early in the morning. I doubt his email gets "flooded" if he's able to actually respond within the same day. Doing the math, he weirdly responded to the second email I sent quicker than the first one, I think within 6 hours? I'm going to test again tonight or tomorrow most likely.

EDIT: Btw I totally faked identities so none of the information I probably forgot to leave out from the "sender" is actual facts about me.

So reading reddit for suggestions is ((working on the game))? Why do you need further suggestions when all you have to do is make a few cutscenes and finish Osana. You'd have another few years adding flavor texts and features that your crew of developers/artists creates for you.

EDIT: Also, I'm not American, so obviously the economy and salaries are different over here, but 3.5k dollars (the margin between "salary money" and "game asset money") +youtube revenue and twitch money seems like a big salary for the quality and speed of work he produces, but I might be entirely off here. Especially since he lives with his parents, so it's possible he doesn't even pay rent there.

Why can't Yandere Dev post clarifications publicly instead of addressing fans' concerns over email? He always complains about answering excess emails, yet it seems like he only wants to address controversy privately.
Also, if there's any truth behind that schedule, it's that Yandere Dev is a complete shutin.

What's even better about the schedule is that, if you transfer the times the email was sent into PST, you'd see that I sent the emails when he was asleep (Around 7 AM PST). According to that same schedule, he responded a little after 2 PM, which is when his "working on the game/email responding" starts. Says a lot about how "full" his email actually is.

I noticed that shortly after I posted it. He literally never mentions going outside.

He's not even consistent with how long he says he works, sometimes its 16 hours (how, Sway?), sometimes its 12 hours, sometimes its 10 hours, sometimes its 8... Alex if you're gonna lie at least be consistent. See that's the problem with lying, you have to keep it up and never let your story change, otherwise it just becomes obvious.

YD is avoiding coding as much as possible to the point where he considers conversing with fans as "work". And they wonder why YD makes no progress on Osana despite working a hard 13 hours per day.
