Fallout series

Normally I'm optimistic for this type of thing but I have little faith for this working and that's saying something considering I defended Metal Gear Survive.

I can agree something could come out of this if you still have feasible options to play alone and explore but it would still be a hollow shell of a Fallout game.

I know everyone is depressed about just how awful this game looks, but lets take 5 minutes out from all the despair to point and laugh at this guy.

I suspect the "ITS GUNNA BE MULTIPLAYER!" horseshit is just spergs being spergs because erreyfing gotta have multiplaya dese days.

When these rumours came about last time, Bethesda Game Studios said they were committed to single player games, not fucking about with Multiplayer or MMOs (which is why they have other divisions).

But it's the internet, so rumours and fucking idiocy gets recycled every few weeks.

Ponderous Pillock also aggressively insists the UK isn't cucked and it's only because Americans are stupid and that's why they can't understand why Muslim gang rape and arresting people for having wrongthink are fine so I pretty much ignore his opinions.

Well, here's hoping they'll have a Q&A or release more info about the game in the near future.

Not gonna lie, some of the stuff shown about the game looks a little... concerning, to say the least.

I think the biggest takeaway is that modding is likely impossible, mods will probably be replaced by mini DLC. So we will not get to nuke Ruckersville and build a deranged radioactive CWCville in it's place (:_(
The worse part is that it looks like more effort went into 76 than 4. The landscape, buildings, and monsters all look more varied.
That's hard to say, It looks like they re-used a lot of assets and a lot of the new enemies look a little bit janky. just a shit ton of dragging and dropping. maybe had to model some real life areas of interest, but besides that, I doubt much is built from the ground up.

From what I've heard, 2018 Obsidian is a bit different from 2010 Obsidian. Even if something that outrageous happened, it wouldn't make much of a difference.
>2018 Obsidian is a bit different from 2010 Obsidian
>bit different

That's a massive understatement. Obsidian is nothing like they were back in 2010 now. Sure, they still have the same buggy unfinished release thing that they blame on whatever publisher hired them but they've taken an immense dip in quality. They've only gotten worse since Avellone jumped ship into the freelance ocean.

There's also the matter that Obsidian isn't as stable or resourceful as Bethesda is. While Fallout 76 looks somewhat... questionable, one could just write it off as an experimental spinoff (even then, some of the controversy might fall to poor communication and 76 won't be as questionable) and have faith that a "normal" Fallout 5 will happen in the future.

Obsidian, on the other hand, has had lots of trouble with finding publishers that want to continue working with them, and has lost several of the developers that made New Vegas so beloved. Ever since that game, they seem to only have the resources to make isometric RPGs, and while that might satisfy some of the older Fallout fans, those types of games don't exactly light the sales charts on fire.

As far as stability goes, I think that Fallout is in better hands with Bethesda than they would be with Obsidian.

I'm okay with this, in my mind it was a whole lost worse. The MP aspect isn't as bad as I thought it would be, he said 12 players so that's manageable. I think they are going for the Far Cry, GTA style. It's still a solo game but like with Borderlands it's obviously built for multiplayer.

modding is gonna be a bitch however (don't expect it to be possible with the Multiplayer however, unless each sever has to make you dl all the shit)

Fallout Multiplayer has been around for ages.
YES I used to play this, Russians would suicide bomb the merchants and there was also an option to fuck merchants as a female character to get money I did so much sex for my Gang it was becoming a running joke.

People have been asking for years, Morrowind, Oblivion, Skyrim FO3, FONV and FO4 all have had fan MP mods that do nothing but present a character in the world, and now we have this option people are getting salty.

Well, hands up and colour me surprised that they've gone for a hybrid model.

It also seems they've done what they've done previously and nicked some of the most popular mods (greenery overhaul, build anywhere) and stuffed them into the game as well.

Which at least gives a different aesthetic, I guess?

Either way, it began to interest me (A Fallout game that's not all brown? YAY!) then the online shit kept piling out and I began to go a bit cold.

....wot?

I think there's fucking plenty wrong with the UK m8. But you lot go off screeching like autistic shit flinging gibbons rather than waiting for the events to fully unfold.

If I want my country uncucked then I think we can do better than a dimwitted moron like Tommy Robinson.

It it an online-only game?

My guess is, that due to Bethesda wanting to get in on these games with online microtransactions, the game will require you to be connected to a server, your player data and purchases will be stored on their side. I'm guessing that either you can set the game to single player, or automatically be dropped into a map with an already number of existing players.

This completely cuts out the problem they had with trying to monetize Fallout 4 through the creation club. They can load up the store with player accesories or house accessories. But I wonder if they'll decide to drop other things that influence player power.

What I'm really wondering is, that since it's co-op and online, people will team up to figure out how to fudge the game so they can powerlevel themselves to absurdity so they can drop into others games and grief the crap out of them.

This will probably result in Bethesda punishing everyone with absurdly powerful enemies and drop rates in a bid to stop the powergamers from griefing others, but will punish the people at the bottom the most. I've seen that sort of thing happen before in online games.
