DOOM

Ok, so the thread probably knows that Grif or whatever the fuck his name is, the lead developer of GZDoom, fucked off in a fit of autism according to the Doomworld thread, since then two of my favorite Doom mods restarted development, though im hesitant to say its BECAUSE of the drama.

this came out not too long ago. I tried it and it's decent, considering it's a free game, but overall I don't like how the shooting feels.
enemies have too many mobility options and you cant shoot anywhere but up and down. on higher difficulties you get ganged up easily by swarms of demons jumping on you and your dodge has way too many frames o recovery.

Oh my! This is like old 1996 DOS Doom 2D on crack. Looks neat.

For those using GZDoom, you guys might wanna watch out for the newer versions; it'll give a way for you to get doxed.

Courtesy of Graf Zahl (who is quite a lolcowish individual himself).
Considering that, any place where one can get a version that doesn't have telemetry or just an older version?

This actually looks really fucking good for what it's trying to be(2D Doom that is). Also, I knew about Brutal Doom, didn't know it was still being updated though with all kinds of crazy shit. And I didn't know about Brutal Doom 64 at all, guess that shows I've been living under a rock where this is concerned, but I love that I discovered it now.

I've been replaying Doom 2016's singleplayer as a drinking game lately, drink on death and on checkpoint Been a fun ride so far. The videos I watched for Minidoom II and Brutal Doom 64 have me super interested, so I'll check those out soon I think. Thanks for showing me more I didn't know about.

yeah after I've put some more play time in it, I can say it's not bad at all.
There are still some things I don't like, but overall it's a solid game. I also really like the way it mixes all the doom series between them. For example there is the soul cube from doom3, the argent tower from doom 2016 etc.
It also mixes some enemy designs: There are og doom and doom16 cacodemons, og doom, doom16 and doom3 mancubus and so on.

Bumping because a sequel to Doom 2016 has been announced.

Not a ton of info at the moment, though apparently the game will take place across multiple dimensions, which would make sense given where the last game ended. Also the trailer has a couple of Doom II enemies that weren't in the last one, namely an Archvile and a Pain Elemental.

Doom 2016 is legit one of, if not my absolute favorite game of this generation and I am absolutely pumped for this new one.

Did I ever show you guys my favorite Doom Mod, other than the usual ones?

It's called Death Foretold and it's basically Doom 2o16 redone as a Zdoom port using old Doom maps.

I particularly like that it's hinting part of it at least takes place on Earth. Hell on Earth is gonna be fucking dope.

I've heard about this but never really watched a vid on it. This kinda makes me want to go find it now.

I played it. They did a damned good job grafting as much Doom 2016 as they could onto the original Doom engine.

Works well with most HD texture mods (like the ZDoom HD texture mod), regen mods (you might want this on harder difficulties, this mod can be brutal), and it seems to have some overlap with some of the features of the Project Brutality fork of Brutal Doom.

I thought they removed the arch vile because the game couldn't handle all the monsters on screen.

I think the game has a 12 enemies on screen limit and most of the bodies do disappear. That's why, I think, they had someone who could summon, instead of a monster who can resuscitate.
Maybe they will remove his ability to resurrect or they have found some other escamotage to make it work as he did in doom2 and 3.

Another heads up involving GZDoom.

You might suddenly find that there's no resolution settings in the newer versions: https://forum.zdoom.org/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=61370

There's no good reason why they made it that way, and it seems like it's just Graf emulating Yanderedev again and doing shit that's killing the sourceport more.

So the goal is to get everyone to use Zandronum then?

At this point, Graf deserves a lolcow thread. He's so goddamn exceptional that he does shit like this, and not adding stuff people actually want, such as online. Bonus points that the thread is now locked because people disagreed.
