The Twilight Knight,
a running thematic girl from another world, is an interesting fighter and serial crossover artist. She's been in almost half-a-dozen other games (at least), including Hell Dorado, Super Dungeon Explore, and Wrath of Kings.
She has come from another land to do battle with the abominations that lurk in our land, armed with a sentient sword and a magic blue lantern. She's squarely above-average in most regards physically save for her HP (which is a little worse than other frontliners). I originally thought she was gonna be similar to the Dragonslayer Knight, but in practice, she's a bit of a different beast. Since she's a bit of a /tg/ reference, I kind of love what she represents, but she has some issues, so to understand why I'm a bit torn on this girl, follow me below.
First of all and most obvious, her lore implications are shit, bit I'm willing to ignore that since she's the crossover character. But there's other issues. She has an array of different tricks, including radial damage, a stun, a riposte, and a slash that also cuts her own stress (which makes her remarkably hard to break). She also has a lantern skill that sucks Stress from one ally and gives it to her (where she can burn it off with the stress-removing melee). Because of this she's both a versatile support fighter and a solid frontliner despite mediocre HP.
There's some issues with her balance. Her animations are all right, even if her basic stance is weird-looking. Soothing Slash is so versatile that she's virtually impossible to afflict unless absolutely hammered. Many of the bonuses and penalties of her abilities are inaccurate (such as the fact that her Lantern skill has a natural self-stressing modifier). All of these are fine, but not dealbreakers. The problem is her camp skills.
She has blatantly overpowered camp skills. The Blue Lantern is a 2-point "avoid campsite ambush" ability, and First Story gives both a massive stress resist a significant dodge boost for 4 points. These two alone practically invalidate other skills, since she can do the same things as other heroes for a fraction of the time units. And while she isn't
@Randall Fragg's equal in terms of DEUS VULT, nor is she
@Burned Man's offensive equal, she's more rounded and not religious, which means working alongside
@AnOminous is easy for her.
If the guy behind her tightens up her mechanics a bit, you'd have a fucking fantastic class here. As it stands she's just good and fun, and one I'm glad to add to my party configs.
