His plan b apparently is to hop on to Amazon's youtube competitor when it launches. We will never get rid of Dave.
Amazons “YouTube competitor” is most likely going to be something along the lines of what Twitch does with “premieres and whatever. I could see it being like Twitch for video game stuff, AmazonTube for other stuff - assuming that it’s not just Twitch. It’s certainly going to be more moderated and as revenue is going to be worthless for a while while advertisers wait to see if its viable. As it stands the ad breaks that Phil can put in his streams don’t earn him much money, so you can bet that whatever other video site Amazon has up tjeir sleeves probably won’t pay much for the views that Phil brings in - if he’s even allowed to the table.

Phil’s hoping and praying that Amazon can compete with YouTube, but I don’t see many companies willing to run a website at the loss that Google is willing to run YouTube at. He’s running out of options and fast. God forbid he loses Twitch, because that Amazon competitor will be off the table too.

He’ll go to hitbox or mixer or something expecting his whales to follow, but they won’t most likely. Karma’s a bitch tbh.

I know this is an :autism: thing to obsess over, but I don't know why I see people thinking Kat makes around 30 to 45k a year. Wasn't it discovered she works in retail?

Let's be generous and give her $13 an hour. Unless she's management, associates rarely get full time hours the most they usually get is 30. So let's say she gets that every week.

$13*30=390
$390*52=$20,280

She most likely makes that and I'm being generous with the hours. That's barely enough to get by even with a roommate that makes around roughly the same.

I think we can all agree the only reason anyone would be with Phil is if they cannot take care of themselves. And we pretty much know this woman cannot take care of herself.

Yeah, I totally agree. I've said this a few times but have given up. I don't know how people are figuring it, but they're massively overestimating her potential income. I've seen people speculate that she makes what, here in Michigan, would be equal to like a mid-level executive haha. She is guaranteed working a minimum-slightly above wage job like retail. I can't envision an alternate scenario.

Yeah Kat is making basic bitch wage come on guis. As for Phil's predicament Google rarely if not at all rectify adsense for anyone because they are pretty damn strict on it, always have been. Phil is fucked with youtube at this point I think. Wasn't he making like 40k a year most likely from it.

@EddyB43 might have an answer for that. I look at last month's and it was like 40-50% from playthrough video within only the current month.

You would think so, but it matched his claims about Youtube vs. Twitch income from last year, and it actually underestimates his apparent CPM from May. Now, granted, this is based on Phil's statements, so add a boulder of salt to this. But it does square with the ballpark estimate of taxes (mostly state) that he's claimed to owe (he said less than 10K at one point early on in the tax saga for the 2.5 years he had been in WA).

Regardless, it's mostly an estimate.

Dave said, while looking at his KOgaming analytics, "My average view duration on KOgaming is 5:23, even though every single video on KOgaming is anywhere from 15 to 20 minutes long. I literally have no short videos on KOgaming, but the channels average view duration is 5 minutes. Ok, ummm. . .Obviously watch time continues to go down and down and down because. . .uhhh. . .y'know, no one. . .there's no new content on this channel. In the entire month of June. . .no, from the last 30 days on KOgaming, last 30 days, I only got 7,000 views on the whole channel. . .and I made $9. There you go Arf, Arf, Arf."

Now I'm no mathematician, but this means his abandoned KOgaming channel with a 33% engagement rate is getting a $1.28 CPM during the end of June and July, typically slow months. Dave has never had DSPGaming operating outside the umbrella of an MCN for more than a couple of months after leaving Machinima. MCNs are typically able to run better ads that offer a higher payout. I do not find a $2 or higher CPM an unbelievable number for him to have been getting. Especially during Q4, I lately have been thinking, with Dave opting to skip his Quarterly Tax payments, that his entire plan for this fiscal year seems to hinge on him making a fuckton of YouTube ad revenue during Q4 and having the excess earmarked to pay his taxes next April. I think what he's really freaking out about is he always assumes that Q4 will be huge for him with new releases etc coinciding with a large upswing in ad revenue and his 1 million views per month from his old uploads on DSPGaming earn him a large sum of cash.

There's no way his audience will double their contributions to make up for the loss of his YouTube money. That's very unlikely to happen at all.

With uploading videos to KOGaming, he will be getting piss all money any ads ran there and assuming nothing gets blacklisted.

So now he has to tread very fucking carefully with Twitch. I will guess deteactors will be more itchy on the report button if something goes wrong.

As much as I would like to believe this may be the start of the end for him, he's a cockroach and almost guaranteed, something will reach down and pull his ass back up.

It sounds like MCNs are just not going to take on marginal cockroaches like Phil any more. Machinima was shit, but Curse is rock bottom. Once you're kicked off Curse, how do you go down from there?

A non-pigroach who just got kicked by their MCN could just set up their own AdSense and deal directly with YouTube, and they probably should. All these parasites do is take something off the top anyway. Does anyone watch some streamer because they're with a bunch of spamming scum like Curse? They're as roachlike as Phil himself, really, and good riddance to them.

IMO DSP may actually be seriously fucked this time. I doubt he's finished, but I also doubt he manages to fix this. He'll have to find some other lower, sleazier hustle, like he always does. His paypigs aren't going to come through for him, at least not enough to make up for this in the long term. It's a hoot that it's so soon after he spent days fucking around with his archive of tens of thousands of shitty YouTube videos.

He still has a parachute or two. Like I said, he can sell the condo in Washington and move back to Connecticut and probably be fine. Not until Twitch goes away through his own doing. When that happens I predict he'll move back in with his parents and claim disability.

I can't stand Phil's fan base. I make it a general policy not to get directly involved, but in light of DSP's "ordeal" I got onto the twitch chat and shared my opinion that NOTHING MAJOR will come out of this. DSP will continue his 10 year begacy unmolested. Cue multiple people barfing out excuses for why DSP can't get a job, why nothing will ever be the same, and my absolute favorite moment, when one chat member who had just subscribed and cheered bits claimed that extra bits, tips, and subs could never fill the gaping hole left by youtube.

I want to reiterate that last part. Let's break it down. 1. DSP lost youtube ads. 2. In response, you subscribe and tip him. 3. But despite that, you believe doing so WILL NOT HELP HIM.

Why not just throw your money into a black hole then? Or better yet, give that money to a deserving charity? Tell you what, for your money I'll even do a roleplay with you. I'll be the Nigerian Prince. You be my helper in the states. Now just load your money onto a prepaid card and give me the info. I'll probably definitely use that info to give you more money maybe.

I don't get this life gives you lemons, so beg for orange juice mentality. If DSP was in an actual dire financial situation, he would take steps to ensure his survival. Get a night shift job, sell some of junk. Use one of his days off to do a yard sale or go to a flea market. Start stocking up on ramen. Use the cheap toilet paper, or better yet use a public bathroom and "accidentally" take the toilet paper roll.

Power level moment here. I've done a lot of things to survive when life was being rough. Now I was clever about it, so I never had to do anything illegal, but I don't expect me and DSP have the same level of intelligence here.

The disability thing is not happening. Not to flash my :powerlevel:, but I’m actually on disability and a few years younger than Phil. It was a pain in the ass for me to get it and I have serious issues documented by many doctors over the course of years of treatment. Not only has Phil not been to a doctor consistently in years (possibly ever), but he’s spent the last decade self-employed and earning close to a six-figure income. Not only do they need to see extensive medical documentation, but they need to see that you don’t have the ability to earn a living despite your condition, which Phil obviously does. Not to mention whatever he could attempt to claim for (depression, his back) has years of video evidence which ‘concerned citizens’ could provide to the SSA to show that he’s completely full of shit. Finally, the process of applying for disability for people under the age of 50 or so is incredibly complicated and difficult to navigate. I was lucky to have a free attorney provided through a local group who represented me the whole way and made sure I got what I needed, and it was still a nightmare. Phil would absolutely have no chance of getting on disability, at least at this point in his life. Looks like the next time he visits IKEA, it’s time to ask for an application.

KO Gaming gained subscribers during the emergency. But now that Dave's spamming tonight's gameplay videos the channels losing subs.

Not only is she almost assuredly making min wage, but dave is most likely only seeing the smallest bit of whatever she’s making. She’s probably paying for groceries and gas in the car, maybe one bill. I highly doubt he’s got her dumping her paycheck into his house payments this early, but kat does seem exceptional so who knows

The reasons Phil wants to be part of an MCN are that they:
1) Get him out trouble whenever copyright strikes occur without him having to do anything. Machinima had to do this like 5 times and always came through; Phil naturally said they never helped him with anything. I can't remember but it's possible Curse had to help him a couple times as well. He didn't need them, though!
2) Get around his permabanned AdSense account. Correct me if I'm wrong, but when you're part of an MCN, they get the money from YouTube/Google directly then cut their employee/"content creator" a check. At least that's the way I interpreted it from Google's support page (see pic below). It's hilarious how Phil flat out admitted to Mitch that he created a "dummy", i.e. fraudulent, AdSense account for Curse just so he could get ads on his videos through them. After Curse dropped him, he tried to tie the fraudulent account to himself and found he couldn't do that because he's banned, leading to the EMERGENCY videos. Either he believes his own delusional bullshit that he's not banned/did nothing wrong or he legitimately forgot he was after all these years.

Phil is most likely done with MCNs, what with them trying to avoid controversial/troublesome assholes like Phil from now on. What I think ends up happening is Phil goes full on greasy sleazebag, gets Kat to create an AdSense account (I just checked Kat's videos - no ads, so she most likely never had one) that he attaches to DSPgaming, takes all the money for himself, and then pretends he got it fixed legitimately.

Do you happen to remember when he did this or if there's video of it? I'd like to watch and see if he had any other insights he shared. Thanks!

I believe the estimate for Youtube was somewhere around 20K a year for him.

Unfortunately, not. He averages around 1.5M views a month (give or take ~200k), and with a $2 CPM, that's about $3000 a month, so more like $36k, give or take. And if he averages higher than $2 CPM for a month (around Christmas time?), it obviously goes up from there.

It was from the REEEEEmergency yesterday, towards the end of it when a viewer suggested he should upload to KOGaming.

Reactions: actually
I'm only on page 10 of the DSP Saga, so somone may have to rate me :late: bc I'm unsure if this is brought up or not.

So everybody saying "he has ads on his videos!" are right, but i remember that YouTube will stick ads on videos that aren't monetized by the channel owner. Iirc one of the autistic illuminati of the SOK were all over Snort Burnell (was her name something like ardnas at the time? My lore is off here guys, sorry) bc she had videos on her channel that had ads and they claimed it was monetization, while she claimed it wasn't- that YouTube themselves put the ads on. So if this is true, isn't it totally possible that there are actually ads on dsp's videos, but that ad $$ is instead going to YouTube? They pretty much have the explicit right to do so.
