Disaster Updates on the Las Vegas Shooting - this is not the shitposting thread you are looking for

Thankfully, we have a great thread for all of your retarded arguments about gun control or whatever is going on in there at the moment, but for the rest of us there is a ton of shit coming out so we'll keep track of it here. If you want to argue like a retard, once again, the containment thread is perfect for that. So fuck off with that shit in here. Same with speculations. Keep this thread mostly for hard facts and discussion of said facts.

Basic Bitches Facts

  • 59 people were killed (including the gunman), and according to police sources, at least 527 were injured.
  • The shooter is Stephen Paddock, 64, from the area.
  • The FBI said he was believed to have acted alone.
  • He opened fired on the Route 91 Harvest Country Music festival in Las Vegas
  • About 22,000 people were attending the festival at the time
  • His sniper nest was in a corner room he rented on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel & Casino
  • 23 guns were found in his hotel room, with another 24 at his various, alongside explosives and thousands of rounds.

Facts about the victims
  • Multiple portraits of the victims have been published so far, if you want to get really depressed.
  • Three of them have yet to be identified
  • It's also important to remember: a lot of the victims are in critical condition and the death toll may keep rising, unfortunately.

The Updates:

This is where it gets interesting:

What Stephen Paddock did was highly professional. According to the last press conference by Undersheriff McMahill, two cameras were set up in the hallway in order to see SWAT team approaching, as well as one through the hotel room's peephole. Additionally, Stephen Paddock set up a camera inside of the room filming himself and possibly streaming it.

The Las Vegas gunman responsible for shooting over 550 people reportedly filmed himself during the rampage, according to multiple reports.

The latest revelation into shooter Stephen Paddock on Tuesday is that he had cameras set up in the hallway to know when police were closing in on his position but also reportedly had a device recording him in his hotel room as he fired upon thousands of concertgoers.

“Las Vegas madman Stephen Paddock set up a camera inside his hotel room to capture his deadly shooting rampage — and other surveillance in the hallway to alert him as cops closed in on him,” the New York Post reported.

Clark County Sheriff Joseph Lombardo said Tuesday that the FBI is reviewing all the footage recovered from the crime scene.

In the weeks prior to the shooting, Stephen Paddock wired $100,000 to the Philippines, Australia and possibly the Middle-East. He also recently visited Dubai according to certain reports, as did Marilou Danley.

First called a person of interest, then unrelated to the shooting, now she is back on the FBI's shitlist and still in the Philippines. There are reports she might be on her way back to answer questions but there is no certainty either way right now.

Leaked pictures have shown he left a note behind, but we still do not know what was written on it

And in case you didn't think he was already enough of a monster, turns out he used to work for the IRS

The Charlotte Observer reports:

The Las Vegas gunman who killed nearly 60 people at a country music festival worked as a letter carrier for the U.S. Postal Service, an IRS agent and in an auditing department over a 10-year period.

A spokeswoman for the Office of Personnel Management told The Associated Press on Tuesday that Stephen Paddock's employment included about two years as a mail carrier from 1976 to 1978.

After that, he worked as an agent for the Internal Revenue Service for six years until 1984. And then he worked a defense auditing job for about 18 months.

Paddock also previously worked as a defense contractor sometime during the late 80s, and graduated college from Cal State Northridge in 1977.

The next Hitler is probably a DMV employee

Route 91 Massacre: Sheriff Closes Case Finding No Motive, No 2nd Shooter, No Conspiracy

Billboard said:
8/3/2018 by Associated Press

More than 10 months after the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history, police say they are closing their investigation without answering the key question: What drove a gunman to unleash a hail of gunfire that killed 58 people and wounded hundreds more at a country music festival?

But authorities say after hundreds of interviews and thousands of hours of investigative work, they are confident there is no evidence of a conspiracy or a second gunman

Clark County Sheriff Joe Lombardo said Stephen Paddock was "an unremarkable man" who showed signs of a troubled mind leading up to the Oct. 1 shooting at the Route 91 Harvest festival on the Las Vegas Strip, but authorities don’t have any clear answers.

Lombardo said that with the closure of the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department’s 10-month investigation, no one else will be charged in connection with the deadliest mass shooting in modern U.S. history.

Paddock, who fired across Las Vegas Boulevard from a hotel room on the 32nd floor of the Mandalay Bay hotel into a crowd of 22,000 concertgoers, was the only gunman, Lombardo said.

Earlier this year, federal prosecutors brought criminal charges against a man who they say sold armor-piercing bullets.

Authorities have said the man, Douglas Haig, sold Paddock 720 rounds of tracer bullets. He has pleaded not guilty.

Police have released 13 batches of investigative documents, 911 audio, police reports, witness statements and video over the last three months.

They have illustrated chaos, heartbreak and heroism from police, first-responders, concert-goers and more.

Body camera recordings made public earlier showed officers using explosives to blast through the door of a 32nd floor hotel suite to find Paddock dead on the floor from a self-inflicted gunshot. Assault-style weapons fitted with rapid-fire "bump stock" devices were strewn about the suite.

Officials have said the attack had no link to international terrorism, but hotel owner MGM Resorts International last month invoked a provision of a federal law enacted after the Sept. 11 terror attacks.

The company wants federal courts to qualify the shooting as an act of terrorism and to declare the company has no liability to survivors or families of slain victims.

Sorry, can't find the original AP article on this.

Weapons Dealer to the ME. Got found out. Forced him to either risk their wrath or carry out a terror attack in line with their ideology. Paddock would have no connections to them, so it would insulate them and let Paddock take the blame, while still sowing terror.
This is the theory I tend to lean towards. Either way, we'll probably never know the whole story because people with some government/police pull want it buried.

I'm honestly not sure if this is better or worse him being a nutter wanting to light up a crowd of randoms.. This attack always hit close to home as I've been in those sorts of venues, intoxicated and can imagine the hellish confusion that must've engulfed people. Pretty shitty times when you need to always have evac and emergency shit on the mind..

A former mistress of Stephen Paddock – the gunman who authorities say killed 58 people in Las Vegas in October 2017 – had a fake weapon seized from her by police on Thursday, according to a report.

The unidentified woman was reported to police after flashing the replica weapon at a reporter, claiming it was real, outside a shopping mall in Auckland, New Zealand, on Thursday, the New Zealand Herald reported.

Police confiscated the fake weapon from the woman at her home following the encounter with the reporter, the news outlet reported.

The woman claimed she carried the fake weapon for protection, the report said.

The woman recently relocated to New Zealand from Australia, after leaving the United States with her son sometime after the Las Vegas massacre, in which authorities say Paddock fired on a country-music concert crowd outside his hotel from his room on the 32nd floor.

New Zealand authorities have become extra sensitive to weapons issues since 51 people were killed in the attack at mosques in Christchurch in March 2019 – about a year and a half after the Las Vegas massacre. Last December, New Zealand authorities said they’d collected more than 50,000 weapons as part of a buyback plan.

Las Vegas authorities say Paddock, 64, fatally shot himself as police moved in on him. No clear motive for the horrific attack has yet been confirmed.

The woman in New Zealand is a different woman from a longtime girlfriend, Marilou Danley, who has often appeared in photos accompanying news reports about Paddock since the shooting, the Herald reported.

The New Zealand Herald said it knows the name of the mistress but has chosen not to disclose her name.

“I have been living here a while but I didn’t want anyone to know,” she told the outlet. “The investigation is still ongoing in the States. I still live with a lot of guilt knowing I could have potentially prevented it so as a result, I have a lot of people who want me dead for failing to do something.”

The news outlet noted that the woman has not been accused of playing any role in the planning or execution of Paddock’s attack.

She said she was in another location in the days leading up to the massacre but offered to travel to Las Vegas after Paddock contacted her from there, seeming to be in some kind of distress. But she told the Herald that Paddock told her not to bother coming to see him.

The woman told the Herald she had met Paddock at a bar in Miami in 2013.

“I started hanging out with Stephen as we both had a passion for guns,” she told the Herald.

She said she doesn’t believe Paddock was as wealthy as he has been portrayed in some media accounts – and suspects that financial stress may have played a role in the Las Vegas massacre.

Las Vegas police closed their investigation into the massacre in August 2018 without establishing a motive.

Paddock was a retired postal service worker, accountant and real estate investor who owned rental properties and homes in Reno and in a retirement community more than hour’s drive from Las Vegas. He also held a pilot’s license and liked to gamble tens of thousands of dollars at a time.

Police characterized him as a loner who had no religious or political affiliations, despite reports he had ranted about the Federal Emergency Management Agency “camps” set up after Hurricane Katrina and deadly standoffs between law enforcement officers and militia groups at Waco, Texas, in 1993 and Ruby Ridge, Idaho, in 1992.

Authorities said he began to stockpile weapons about a year before the attack and spent $1.5 million in the two years before Oct. 1, 2017. He also started to distance himself from his girlfriend and family.

In the days before Paddock fired more than 1,000 rounds with assault-style rifles into a country music festival, video footage showed him wheeling bag after bag into his hotel suite while security guards helped him. More than 30 video clips have been released showing Paddock interacting with Mandalay Bay staff, playing the casino’s gaming machines and transporting the bags.

Despite police finding 23 weapons in Paddock’s room after the shooting, he left no note to explain the chaotic mess he left behind.

The police report is available to the public (scroll down). According to it, the girlfriend said he grew distant for the past year, backed up by his physician noting during his last physical his behavior was "odd" and he showed "little emotion", and while there, Paddock didn't want to talk about bipolar disorder, so he wasn't put on medication for it. On page 47, it's confirmed they found several hundred images of CP on a second laptop he had with him (so he's no different from his brother).

Oh, this makes sense of the Phillipines connection and the revolving door of low status, low income Phillipinas (whom he treated like shit) as girlfriends/beards for his real tastes. That place is a pedo paradise for white middle aged westerners and exploitative types who need a woman leagues below them on the social scale to feel powerful. It all makes sense to me now. Paddock was an ageing, self-loathing, isolated pedophile with no meaningful relationships whatsoever who kneew he was disgusting perverted trash even by the standards of the bag end of Asia he frequented, and that type becomes the angry, bitter depressive type who wants tdie, but wants o take as many people down with him as possible first. Some suicides are nothing but one big lashing out and deserve no sympathy at all.

I agree with the consensus this guy made his cash via selling weapons illegally. His dad was a diagnosed sociopath and his brother was a pedophile, clearly tbe apples didn't fall far from the family tree and he was a messed-up product of a messed-up family. Makes sense to me that he commits suicide by taking as many people down with him first, lashing out to feel big and powerful one last time just like he felt big and powerful when fucking children or shoving and ordering tiny Phillipina women around.

People still talk about this? I thought everyone just decided yeah weird shit happened, but they were never going to say what went on.

I'm pretty sure people know just as much as they did back then and by that, I mean nothing.
