They don’t realize because they’re under the illusion that they’re writing the Watchmen of this and every generation. Any comment that isn’t agreement or asspats is harassment, the concept of personal responsability is non existent. Ironically enough most of these speds from a publisher who’s main flagship’s philosophy is “With Great Power, There Must Also Come Great Responsability”
Which is funny considering that not only was Watchmen a critical and financial success to the point that it completely changed how creators approached comics from that point on (for better or for worse), but I've seen a lot of these people flip-flop between throwing Moore under the bus for the problematic elements in his stories like Killing Joke, and then simultaneously take Moore's words out of context to hold up their own bullshit. Despite being the crazy high as a kite Rasputin-looking motherfucker that he is, it's really no wonder that Moore eventually checked out of the whole industry and hates everything about it and almost everyone involved nowadays.

I also kinda get the impression that a lot of the most SJW-y players in this don't really care about the consequences their actions will have on the industry because they either have something to fall back on already set up, or they 're not invested in comics as a medium because they are it as a stepping stone for those juicier industries they actually want like cartoons or TV. I don't think it's any coincidence that a lot of the more egregiously bad writers like Leth got their start doing shitty cartoon the-in comics, nor that some of those people are shitting up the flagpole in cartoons now. I expect we'll be seeing a few more of them making that same jump soon enough.

I’ve been talking to a couple of CG spergs lately, they believe the massive increase in sperg outs from pros are the result of the following:
  1. Most of the publisher’s 3rd quarter finance reports are about to be released and this is them panicking.
  2. Most of the CG backed IGGs are about to be finalized and shipped to their backers, making the numerous claims that the IGGs are cons/scams invalid.
  3. The upcoming releases of the IGGs is making starting to become humiliating for certain Pros with years late projects.
  4. Certain Pros are quickly becoming irrelevant and are in desperate need for attention before they fade into obscurity.
My personal opinion, it might be a combination of all of the above.

I'd add:
5. They are realising the CG is not going away, and are pulling every string and calling in every favour to try and get rid of CG.
6. After ArenaNet, Riot, and Alturna, businesses are finally realising that firing these people is the best course of action in the long run. The longer this goes on, the more companies are going to have "don't piss on the customers" as a corporate policy. They know they are on borrowed time.

They don’t realize because they’re under the illusion that they’re writing the Watchmen of this and every generation. Any comment that isn’t agreement or asspats is harassment, the concept of personal responsability is non existent.
I agree, but I don't think it's Watchmen they believe they're writing.

I think they are trying to capture the acclaim of Star Trek had when they had the "first interracial kiss on prime time TV". We see this in their "right side of history" shtick, we see it in their rush to get "first X to do Y" in their stories, and we see it in the way they pimp their diversity hires like cheap whores.

Hey Zack (aka @damian ), looks like Gail Simone decided to be a snarky fucking bitch to something you posted almost a year ago! I doubt anyone other than Gail's wankfest would have noticed, but luckily for us, John Flynt is on the case, being an accomplished comic book artist and writer himself! Enjoy!

Diversity hires are the variant covers of the current comic book industry: a novelty with a perceived value greater than its actual one which eventually lead to a downward trend in business.
That is one of the most apt analogies that I've ever heard in my entire life.

Not sure why people are surprised at Gail mocking art that was posted a year ago. She's just that slow. Because she's FUCKING FAT.
Similar to the other DnC art she was mocking the other day (riri-rebirth) it's not even his art, both times it was other people drawing DnCs story. So she is also WRONG and FAT

Marvel doesn't follow any of these anymore

These crossovers make me uncomfortable. It's just weird to see Flynt in these circles.

It's not too surprising really, they all share the same political ideas generally in terms of far left spergery, it's just that their running different ops with one seeking to do as much damage to comics as they can and the other seeking to ruin vidya for the masses. It is still rather disturbing watching them collide though, like seeing a earthquake and volcano team-up to fuck some 3rd world country.

I can already imagine the current staff’s faces when they got that shown to them:

Throw in a tornado or 2 when these speds move on to animation/anime.

I kinda hate the whole "MARVEL HAS ALWAYS STOOD FOR X" act considering I'm already foreseeing people point to right now as justification for some stupid shit in 30 or so years assuming they're still in the industry, you just have to play the game long enough and say it's following tradition.

It's true that they're misunderstanding some of these old comments but that's why people need to be as exact as possible with as few words as possible to try to prevent them being twisted.

He filed a complaint with the FTC. So while he could also pursue a civil suit, at some point the FTC will get around to asking a few questions.

I have very little legal knowledge, what are the potential ramifications of an FTC complaint compared to that of a civil suit?

The indie-funded comics are the candidate Trump for the established comics industry. The nightmare scenario that the public rabble could ever get their shit together enough to actually set up a viable alternative to the 800 pound gorilla that was corporate comic publishing has come true. And it means they are no longer immune to long-term dissatisfaction from the end-use readers and retailers and have to actually listen to the customer base like they used to, instead of trying to ham-fistedly mold it into it's "proper" form.

Of course they're losing their minds more than usual.

Honestly, I don't see much coming of it. In theory, they could end Marvel. In practice, I don't see them doing a damn thing other than routine inquiries. Comics are a minuscule sliver of an industry, and I don't see the political will to do anything. You pretty much have to sue or suck it up unless you yourself are a huge corporation with politicians in your back pocket.

Maybe others are more :optimistic:

They used to do that because they were in the entertainment business and wanted to entertain and, possibly, even enlighten from time to time.

Now they're a bunch of joyless SJW goblins and trolls who view what are really their customers as some kind of captive audience of sheep they can indoctrinate into their shitty little cult.

The customers are informing them they're wrong and they can take that shit and shove it.

Potentially huge fines. Not just for Mark Waid but potentially Marvel as well.

A civil suit would mostly involve damages up to whatever it can be estimated Zach lost by not selling his comic in stores. Since a lot of the customerbase already get a copy from the IGG campaign I hardly think it would have sold more than 10k issues in stores. And as most of the income goes to publisers retailers and distributers it's not a big chunk on the line.

Going against the FTC on the other hand is deemed harmful to the very system of free enterprise itself and so there can be very large fines meted out by the government as deterrent.

No idea of how realistic it is that it'll come this far, but the potential is there for the incident becoming a nightmare for Marvel.

Mostly because none of the idiots working there can leave this one guy alone. They are really fortunate that no one at Disney is paying them much mind otherwise this shit would have ended way before now. Disney will tolerate a certain level of spergery but not this shit that is bringing FTC complaints and potential civil suits against them. Especially when the one guy everyone at Marvel is so butthurt about is a dude recording himself reading comics on a smartphone. It's insane.
