But now that we've seen Chris's schoolwork courtesy of Skyraider, it's pretty clear that Chris wasn't mainstreamed in any meaningful sense of the word. He may have physically sat in the same classroom as the mainstream students (sleeping half the time) and received the same assignments, but he was allowed to turn in nonsensical garbage work and still pass. He really got the worst of both worlds - he didn't get teaching designed for his level, or assistance in rising to the level of the teaching.Wherever you stand on it, I don't think it is possible to claim that mainstreaming has no merits. Noone knows where Chris would have been without it. Maybe he would have been better off, maybe worse off.
