I saw

"Some people are saying that CIA documents got leaked on 4chan and now this is happening, others are saying that THEY are finally targeting 4chan for being a site for evil Russian hackers"

and

"4chan is alive but seems like some countries/ISP can access it and others can't."

as two rumors

Posting on 4chan's busted again, the current theories range from usual site maintenance to Hiro's attempting to make Adblock-proof ads a reality.

Whatever it may be, it's ultimately going to be something r.etarded.

It's probably going to be retarded as balls, the issues seem to be server-based due a few of my posts leading to a gateway timeout error instead of the usual system page and then magically showing up on said threads 15-30 minutes later.

And, as expected, shitposters are taking full advantage of 4chan's current state when it comes to crapping up the usual places.

EDIT: I was right but it's on a level that's somewhat expected, the cause appears to be site maintenance.

And the rumor mill keeps turning, three more theories have popped up courtesy of the 4chan subreddit. The first one is that 4chan is down due to /b/ discovering a pedophile ring on Tumblr and churning out evidence of it in a thread until the mods deleted it, they remade said thread on /pol/ and got the same treatment there. The second is that some asshole is using an MITM attack to infect the site with cryptominers. The third is that Michael Avenatti has something to do with it, but that is probably the most bullshit-filled of the three.

Since this is coming from Reddit and not any sort of verifiable source take everything there with a healthy dose of skepticism.
Oh so it was that thing it always is.
True, but I don't remember seeing it last this long before.

EDIT: Posting returned at approximately 2 PM PDT and users are still confused about the downtime.

That's nothing unusual, I'd be more suprised if Hiro or any mod actually said what happened this time. On the rare occasions Hiro shows up on /qa/ and people ask him about the ads, why 4chan was down on x date and so on, he just says something wacky in Engrish and fucks off again.

Some anon in ghostposting yesterday said in ye olden days of moot, the site was once down for a month. So it has happened.

As for the three theories, I know some tech guys on /qa/ laughed at the second theory and said it was just /pol/ being exceptional, but I didn't really get into the thread much. I agree that the third one is bullshit. The first one is interesting, but the thing is, I went and read the /pol/ thread mentioned and several people there make a good point in saying that there's a good chance the FBI already knows about the Tumblr pedo ring (either through Tumblr itself reporting it or whoever on 4chan discovered it first) so the mods are just trying to keep a bunch of autists from kicking off a shitstorm that might ruin their operation to catch more pedos. The /b/ thread is completely gone (for a good reason since it links to CP), but I still think it's not related to the downtime.

Does /co/ realize how many other boards dislike them? Other boards that you would expect to be much more controversial like /lgbt/ have much better reputations,
You'd think that, but since Chris and Dobson count as /co/ material (and yet Enter doesn't apparently), of course they're going to be the ones to talk down about a site they know they aren't better than.

They should be thankful the board's anonymous for the most part.

how do you poo.png

Why it suddenly became popular, I have no idea. Maybe someone from /x/ (I got the feeling the true origin of this "meme" is from there) dug it up again and spread it to /pol/, as an alternative for "shill" and so.
the thread that started the npc theory was in mid-late 2016. it didn't really kick off until someone found this reddit post and posted it I believe on 8/pol/

Some posts about niggers and other non-whites not actually having a soul later, it just spread down hill from there on.
And it's fucking beautiful
