Millennial congresswomen, they’re just like us. No, really, this one is.

Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, the democratic socialist and youngest woman ever elected to Congress, can’t afford to rent an apartment in Washington, D.C. before her job starts in January.

“I have three months without a salary before I’m a member of Congress. So, how do I get an apartment?” Ocasio-Cortez, 29, told the New York Times. “We’re kind of just dealing with the logistics of it day by day, but I’ve really been just kind of squirreling away and then hoping that gets me to January.”

Ocasio-Cortez shocked the country when she secured a primary victory over New York Rep. Joe Crowley, the 10-term incumbent who was widely believed to be the most powerful Democrat in the House after Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi. Before she turned to politics, Ocasio-Cortez worked as a bartender.

Now she’s telling voters not to worry about her housing situation.

“There are many little ways in which our electoral system isn’t even designed (nor prepared) for working-class people to lead,” Ocasio-Cortez tweeted. “This is one of them (don’t worry btw - we’re working it out!)”

Ocasio-Cortez is widely viewed as an up-and-coming star in the Democratic Party in the wake of her surprise win, fueled in part by her leftist policy ideas, which more closely align with millennial voters than her future congressional colleagues. She believes, for example, in single-payer healthcare and has suggested taxing Wall Street to fully fund public universities. She also supports “clean campaign finance,” and has said she will not accept corporate donations.

To be fair, she may be broke right the hell now, and a six figgie salary three months and two weeks away is still 0$ on the bank account.

Still amazing how short sighted she is. It's not like it was a big mystery as to when she was going to be inaugurated, when the elections were, and how long you would have to wait before you got your first check.

It'd be like me accepting a job offer three months from now, quitting my current job immediately, and then bitching that the new job won't support my stupid decisions.

Somehow I wouldn't be surprised if she assumed the House was going to provide her with a relocation fund and a stipend. The world is supposed to hold her hand and wipe her ass, dontcha know.

She's a politician of course there are. How is it any different from the scores of others?

Why are you presuming that my disdain for O-C doesn't extend to dozens of other politicians?

Also, she's the one wringing her hands about her situation in articles and social media. People are allowed to respond.

Maybe if you used a source it would help instead of "my feels".

I don't even know what you're getting at here, but, if you want a source, here's a fun one.

Dell granted Ocasio-Brainiac a scholarship to BU($70,000 annual tuition) in what was obviously an attempt to get more women in STEM.

How'd that work out for them?

Science is like *tee hee* hard.

I wish these bullshit pushes for all those poor neglected girls who want to pursue STEM but just don't know how (pro tip: sign up for STEM classes) would hold them accountable. The scholarship should have been contingent on actually receiving a degree in a hard science, engineering or pure math discipline.

Please feel free. Others who don't share your opinions are also allowed to disagree.

Good for her. How does that address her being piss poor. She got a scholarship?

Oh I see. So since she's a woman she must not be deserving of a scholorship on her own merit.

Wtf are you talking about. Literally no one said that. But she did take a scholarship for STEM away from someone who may have actually, you know, studied STEM.

Also she's one of the few millennials without crippling student loan debt, yet she still manages to have no money. O-C is truly exceptional.

"My research won 2nd place globally in Microbiology at @intel ISEF," she said in the tweet, referring to the Intel International Science and Engineering Fair. "At [Boston University] I started as science major, changed to Econ #nerdalert"
You're literally crying because she changed majors.

Who the hell are you arguing with? The voices in your head? That's not even almost responses to anything anybody here said.

She could try and get a sugar daddy for a few months. I'm sure there's someone in Washington that would take her up on that offer. Or set up a GoFundme. A lot of people probably want her in office and would literally pay her way just for her to stay there. Some just to have her embarrass the left. Others because they see her as a victim.
