Well, I see VoodooChild/SpookyVoodoo/Kitty Voodoo has been un-permabanned, and is already back, angry, and badged up with a "RESIST" avatar.

She was enough of a troublemaker pre-banning to practically be lolcow worthy, and her ubanning is dubiously phrased.

I was still on there back in 2016. IIRC, right before the election that year, She got a suspension for saying if Trump got elected everyone should take up arms and overthrow the government. A mod there said can't have members trying to incite violence.

Now they ban any type of Trump support and she's back. Interesting.

Do they give really good head or something?

Can't say I'm shocked she hasn't changed a bit. Wonder how long she'll last, of for that matter, what when into that appeal-ish.

Like I said, she's basically a lolcow in her own right, I've followed her twitter periodically for amusement's sake. No, she hasn't changed a bit - if anything she's gotten worse.

But in this current climate, who knows. She's the right sort of angry, and last time it took a really bad streak of her behavior in short order to get her banned. As long as she spaces her behavior out a bit, she'll be fine for months, if not years.

I wonder why there's such an environment of bad attitude on that site.

Truly, it is a mystery.

I remember, years ago, following the Escapist forums not because they were particularly interesting, but because there were so many banned profiles that it became something of a hobby to try to track down those profiles and the offending posts and see if I could figure out any kind of reasonable justification for why they had been banned. More often than not, it remained a mystery to me. Either the post was deleted (despite a big red button directing you to the post that got the user banned) or the post in question was so ordinary that I couldn't fathom someone being banned over it.

This is worse.

Ah, yes, the famous "The beatings will continue until morale improves" style of moderation.
I'm still amazed that place has ANY activity. Why on earth would you post on the electronic equivalent of East Germany, where sooner or later someone will take offense and you get sent off to the digital gulags?

Someone with more time and an interest in psychology should do a study, because I can't figure out why you'd hang out on this place short of some flavor of masochism.

I think it's plain old inertia. For years RPG.net was the place to go to hang out with the gaming community online. They had some of the funniest, sharpest reviews going, and they shone a light on a lot of small time indie games that never would have had a chance otherwise (anyone remember how they constantly pimped Unknown Armies or All Flesh Must Be Eaten?). And the forums were a lot of fun for a long time. I imagine a lot of people have been going there so long they just haven't noticed as the situation has gotten worse and worse.

Honestly, it amazes me how RPG.net can keep beating the dead horse known as Gamergate.

It's like they literally blame GamerGate for everything and act like it's some insidious supervillain conspiracy responsible for everything they don't like.

I said it once and I will say it again, anyone who still cares about Gamergate in 2018 is a fucking idiot.

"GamerGate" was always nebulous. No leaders, barely a "movement" (all online hashtag "movements" are ultimately retarded internet nonsense), and united only in rejection of SJWism being forced into products the consumers didn't want ruined with moralfaggotry. Much like any LARPer can post a false flag thread to 4chan, any claim can be made about GamerGate, because who will be able to disprove it? A hashtag is thousands of social media speds sperging out independently. There's no way to prove some of them aren't taking it too far. (Indeed, some of them, just based on the odds, probably are.) And no central authority can speak for the movement, so literally any claim will stand.

Essentially, they treat GamerGate like the Sauron the Unmentioned because it enables them to claim more unfalsifiable victimhood and oppression. People who actually use the internet point and laugh at them because we know they're lying, but stupid normies don't know enough to not be convinced by their sad tears.

That's the problem with hashtag activism. You have no power to excommunicate the spergs or disavow their spergery. With no leader and no codified message, the hashtag means something different to every person, and there's no way to keep the idiots from shitting up the place.

It's not a mystery.

Just logged in to check - currently over a thousand people reading the forums, over 300 logged in members. Max concurrent users almost 7,000 at peak. Half a million threads, over 20 million posts, over 11,000 active users and over 100,000 registered users. More subforums than I can count, and lots of them are used daily. Plus constantly posted reviews of new products.

I go to any other RPG web site, I might get a tenth of that, if I'm lucky.

Plus, in it's glory days, there were tons of industry pros that hung out there periodically, which was cool. There might be a handful left, for a definition of "industry pro" that mostly refers to small-press and indie egos, but it's not what it used to be.

It's been mentioned before but goddamn do the mods on this site have such shitty attitudes. Every single one of them acts like the bitchiest pis-ant possible.
It’s what happens when you give a bunch of autistic nerds with no introspection power over others with no oversight. They turn into petty, powerhungry little tyrants taking revenge on all the Chads who bullied them in high school.
It’s sad when us Kiwi Hotpockets do a better job as moderators than the mods of a forum not devoted to stalking retards and laughing at them.

Immediately reading about how the admins on this site decide to ban any talk about ORANGE MAN BAD, but threatening violence is still against the rules, those two do not generally go together. Think about it, while the real left-wingers (that despise the anti-Trumpers and just want to be left the fuck alone) wouldn't do something like this, the type of people who this kind of talk attracts would rather see Trump supporters shot than be allowed to express their opinions because "muh fascism".

If you're trying to distance yourself from ResetEra while still being left-minded, this kind of talk doesn't help.
