I'm not going to tell you he doesn't like power, but I think this is, in part, a common misconception about Kage.

I think he does actually care about furry beyond the convention, but he thinks his methods (whitewash, deny, suppress) are the only way. Consider the state of conventions when AC took off: the banner con was Confurence, which at times was a bondagefest. Bringing the kinks under control was the path forward, and so they did.

This is why some in his sphere dislike that the hot new con is a regulated, but fairly permissive party zone.

Somebody uploaded the documentary to YouTube.
Not the best quality but what can you expect from YouTube uploads.

As for the doc, this was the doc filmed at AnthroNW, that "family friendly" furry con that had a CNN film crew that some furries flipped shit over.

I will say that I am impressed Kage and his merry band tossed Bad Dragon from AC. They must have got a lot of flack for that but it is a step in the right direction.

That said, I’m sure there’s still a ton of adult art being sold in the dealers den and art alley.

And at the end of the day I feel Kage’s efforts are a futile exercise in turd polishing; the roots of furry run too deep in the bondage, fetish, and over the top parts of gay cultures that spawned it. I also think Kages “caring” about the fandom as a whole is just because he needs it to look good so he can enjoy it, and not worry about getting any scandal on him.

Edit: which hot new con is the one giving the AC band the heartburn?

Kage is irrelevant, and his attempts to police the furry fandom are just him trying to find meaning in life. He's a non-factor.

All in all, I think people would have less of an issue with furries being sexual deviants if they stopped trying to push it under the rug. It's not a secret to anyone.

You can be a deviant and not be a menace to society. So far, furries are failing at this. (RIP Koda)

Well put. It would help if they’d stop the grooming, too. In my time knowing known furries they never missed a chance to try and get newbies into the porn and the cyberyiff.

I guess he is starting to lose his grip. I’m the end he’s just another mid-life crisis furry, an under appreciated professional who hangs with impressionable artists and perverts to get the attention he thinks he deserves.

While I’m not a sociologist, it seems to me that the mania furries have for grooming and recruiting comes from their roots as a gay subculture. My personal experience was they just love the idea of “converting” straight normals and besides, they need as many recruits as they can get; when everyone’s a weirdo then no one is, right?

Seriously - and my snark aside - they really seem to get off on the idea of converting people and they really have this mania for needing everyone to like what they like, and join in on what they consider fun. I’ve known model railroaders, hot rodders, surfers, gamers, model ship builders, trekkies, and all sorts of others and nobody else has had that ‘you gotta join us and your a sad pathetic person if you dont’ contempt that furries have for normals.
