What game do you wish Phil would play? - AKA best future TIHYDP material?

Yeah, I've played the Ace Combat games myself. If/when he plays AC7, I would not even be surprised if he was too stupid to realize that you need to switch from the novice to the expert flight controls to get the most out of the game.

He hasn't done any Let's Plays of Ace Combat games, so he wouldn't know what to expect from the controls. Since AC7 labels the novice controls as "standard control" instead of "novice control" in the menu options (as evidenced by the TGS demo), it wouldn't be unreasonable to think this he'd use it by default if/when he plays the game. He wouldn't be the only newcomer that does this, but it would highlight his incompetence that much further.

This is a taste of what we might be seeing from him.

Actually, no. Scratch that. We would be seeing something along the lines of this:

After this latest tweet convo? lamo Kerbal Space Program!!!!!!!11one
Show your smarts Mr ....oh wait....he's not book smart...and showed it in hi tweet, lol

An old Sierra adventure game like King's Quest or Space Quest.
Because he will surely trap himself in an unwinnable state, not notice it for hours, and overwrite all his old saves with unwinnable ones.

He won't struggle that much, because he'd read a guide for it or use his pigcult to get through it.

Though he might accidentally handhold too long and fuck himself over; I know of a few screens where time has meaning in order to get the item you need to win.

I don't know why people would suggest God Hand. That game has dynamic difficulty unless you play on hard, which he won't. So he'd keep getting put down to level 1 anytime it reached 2 and the game is very easy below 3. Something like Severance Blade of Darkness, Oni or a S.T.A.L.K.E.R game would be better because his only strat of brute forcing and face tanking everything will get him owned and chat can't help him.

A mystery dungeon game like Azure Dreams where the stream chat is virtually useless. He wouldn't even get past the 10th floor.

More sports games would be nice since it's a genre where stream chat cannot bail Phil out and the constant salt from Phil pretending to know the rules or how players play in real life.

I'd really like to see him try a sport that he would have absolutely no idea how to play. Don Bradman Cricket 14/17 (Steam).

Wreckfest. We all know that Phil can't play driving games worth shit, so what would happen if you have to modify your vehicle and try not to get wrecked?

If he won't get his will the next 6 month, on December 29 steam will give us the Bum Simulator, so he can do a Rocky training montage to prepare for his future. This game was already mentioned in this thread, but it looks honestly quite fun and well fitting to DSP. Flips his finger to people he has to rely on, buys useless shit and drinks alcohol like there is no tomorrow. So not much difference to now.

Tomb Raider 2. I thought the old Tomb Raider games were a lot of fun but it was always hard to figure out what the objectives were and it was easy to wander around, run out of ammo and flares and wind up very frustrated (unless of course you had a strategy guide.) Maybe a strategy guide is what DSP has needed all along!

I've recently learned about this guy, so I don't know if he has done or never will do it. I'd love to see what someone like that would do for Armored Core. How he'd personalize his mech, the rationale he'd have for parts decisions, and how he'd fail.

PS1 era, PS2, or if any from the gen after, Armored Core: For Answer

Oh yeah original TR games were pretty brutal. They were my introduction to 3D games and I recall being pretty terrible at them. The fact they would just drop you into a level and you'd be stuck checking out ugly ass textures trying to figure out what was climbable and what wasn't, coupled with stuff like the grid spacing (walk to an edge and hop back for perfect running jump distance) would be something to behold with DSP.

He actually briefly played it for a marathon but I'd like to see a full run of God Hand. He initially did better than I even thought he would but I would love to see him push on and get his shit kicked in over and over again while squawking at all the degenerate enemies in the game: leather clad homosexuals, nympho demon girls, fat clowns and midget crybaby power rangers to name a few.. all beating the tar out of him.

Also Vanquish's Challenge Mode because I don't think he'd finish a single one before ragequitting!

If he WAS SMART, he would stream Dead Cells. IT has twitch integration, good time for some trolling. I bet he could squeze out some money from idiots, formerly known as detractors.

Sorry didn't see this sooner or I would have added it into my post. Dynamic difficulty doesn't really mean the game doesn't have the capacity to kick the shit out of you on Level 1. Can you honestly see Phil beating Tiger Joe, Sensei or Devil Hand in any fight without at the very least popping another blood vessel in his head?

I think this happens alot with people and games.. and it works in both ways when it comes to DSP and how folks look to hold him to account. If you play something a lot and naturally get better at it, you can lose some of the sense of how things started out for you. The game has a reputation for being difficult because it is difficult until you really put the time in and take your licks. Most people need more than one full run at a game like it in order to become really proficient.

It's this same deal with the way I actually do think he was right to some degree when it came to TIHYDP and viewers shitting on his garbage runs of older titles he'd never played before. People can forget their own fumbling around and fuck ups in their first experiences in games and with your own history and knowledge; just because you learned it back in the day doesn't mean you just knew what to do in every scenario in 30 seconds. I'm not defending the fact he's terrible at games, just that there were and continue to be speds out there who genuinely think he should have known right away that he had to switch controller ports fighting psycho mantis or how to deal with bed of chaos.

God Hand would beat him like a dog. :optimistic:

Back in August, he actually played God Hand for an hour during his "Rage-a-Thon" event. You can be the judge of whether he did well or not :/

Yeah I saw it! He actually did.. alright. Sort of a little better than I expected at least. Though he never really reached any point that upped the challenge much at all before he quit. Thing about this game it's got the old school beat 'em up style where mashing is actively encouraged, at least up to a point anyway - as the game goes on though and you get lazy you'll be punished for it. It's easy to think he was doing well hammering the buttons but I know it wouldn't have lasted for very long.
