Admittedly, I did post it as a jokey kind of comment, but let's explore this a little further.Even he wasn't autistic, he'd still have to groom women with the fact that he's a 30 something on welfare.
I don't think either of us can undermine just how much Chris' laziness has contributed to his position in life. It's always been my personal theory that love was never really that important to Chris above a surface level because nothing was going to outweigh his love for himself. However, if we assume that his love quest was his true and honest goal, then we must consider that if he was brave enough to change his life(get a job, clean his room, etc.) for that goal, that he'd likely be in a much different place.
The fact is that Chris really is afraid of losing the life he's been able to cling to for all these years and that's a large factor in his attitude and actions. At least, in my opinion.
