Renee? Is she new?

Renee is a personality I created mainly for the purpose of encouraging Chris to get more involved with the LGBTQ community (and maybe, if everything worked out, develop some sort of social life). She's supportive and positive without stooping down to ass-patting/coddling/enabling.

Renee has been "retired" as of October 31, 2014, but Chris texted her recently.

All right, I'm letting my inner white knight out here, but the fact that the one person Chris is turning to in his time of need is secretly a troll depresses the fuck out of me.

If I can make a suggestion, Thetan, I think you should respond. Don't say yes, of course, but at least say something encouraging. It sounds like he's in desperate need of a friend.

I'm hesitant to respond because people will start piling on me again for "torturing" Chris. Renee was never malicious.

If I had responded, I was going to suggest that Chris looked into getting one of these:
http://www.pods.com/

They could park the thing at 14 Branchland Court, and it would probably be cheaper than renting a storage unit.

The other danger of my responding is that I really don't have the time to continue a sham relationship with Chris. It seems to me that it would actually be worse to resume contact, then just disappear abruptly. I was honestly hoping that he'd realize that I was a troll and move on (which is one of the reasons I outed myself). That would have been so much simpler.

I don't want to build him up / give him false hope only to shatter his illusions.

He's really looking for someone he can become dependent on. Not just a friend. Remember, she hasn't said anything to him since Halloween and he's already asked her to have his child and house the hoard. He's trying to use her. @Thetan , I think you've done the right thing in not replying.

Again, I feel the need to remind people that the following conversation is Chris texting Renee: she is NOT responding. Anyway, I thought you'd appreciate an update.

How do you borrow from a life insurance policy of someone who's not yet dead?

Is it me or do I find it surprising that Chris has life insurance?

Imagine the week after Barb passes away, and Chris gets his LI check. How soon it'll be pissed away on Legos.

And don't forget, SSI is gonna deduct $1 for every $2 Chris gets. There's gonna be at least a few months where Chris doesn't get any Tugboat money, and insurance payouts are garnishable by the many collection agencies that monitor Chris.

That single phrase sums up all the Vivian/whoever tried to help Chris. So many memories...
Semi serious question here: Is natural to feel tired and uninterested, but could you consider transfer your role to someone who you trust?
I think it's better for everybody that she just stopped

EDIT: Oh and btw Vivian was Clyde Cash

Well, here's Rainbow Restoration's page about storage: http://www.rainbowintl.com/services/content_inventory.cfm

Rainbow International provides complete pack-out services. We will carefully and respectfully take the contents of your home or business to be restored, packed, and delivered to an off-site facility. The pack-out process involves meticulous documentation to ensure your items receive the best possible care, including photo documentation, identification numbers and detailed lists.

May God have mercy on their souls...

It's possible that the cost is so high because they aren't just storage, they're restoration. It doesn't sound like they just want you to leave things with them indefinitely, either. So, this doesn't seem like a normal matter of self storage.

I see what you mean. If there really is a viable solution that Chris and Barb are too dumb to figure out, maybe the kindest solution is for someone on the board who has contact with him through a relatively honest persona to explain it to him. Not sure if that is at all workable or if the pods or anything else are a silver bullet, just throwing it out there.

I don't even know what's more sad; the desperation of the Chandlers that Chris is begging "Renee" to borrow her home or the possibility of the weens going on Chris over this situation.
