Voltron Fandom - Bury your gays!

For these titbabes, it died when Shiro married a guy NOT named Keith. Because their relationship only counted for the fans when they had a chance to suck face. :story:

To be fair, S8 did cut back their interaction to basically nothing, but they did the same with the rest of Shiro's relationships (Allura, Pidge, Matt, etc) so it's not like it was a direct slam at Sheith the way the fans think it was.

Basically, they're blowing a more-or-less legitimate flaw that still had jack shit to do with their ship out of proportion. Unsurprising.
(Also, this reminds me... weren't the staff and writers Hell-bent on killing off/crippling Shiro super early in the story so Keith would become 100% team leader [like in Golion and, in a way, the first Voltron series], and only relented later which is why they came up with the Kuzon deals? A bit ITT, but I just recalled that.)

I've finished reading the thread and despite knowing none of the plot, locations, characters, theme's or even ships; I'm so glad I never watched this trainwreak.

If the fandom is so bad that you know that nothing of value would be lost by not experiencing something, then the team in charge of making voltron had a real problem that they never fixed.

Pretty much!

Yeah, but Shiro was so popular with the DW folks and they wanted to sell lots of toys, so they talked the EPs into keeping him alive.

Hot damn, the dumbass who wrote this "article" needs some urgent shock therapy instead of projecting like this on fictional characters.

If people REALLY want to call out S8, they should address actual story and character problems. The "dark entity" was some kind of weird asspull, the team forgot they were all friends, and they revived a dead lesbian for wlw brownie points only to fuck up a plot where said lesbian's girlfriend went on a rampage to avenge her death. Not this "as a black gay disabled abuse victim with PTSD, my life is ruined because a kids' cartoon about magic robots didn't end how I wanted."

Lance: [starts as a hopeless suitor with Nice Guy (tm) shades to Allura]
Lance: [is not exactly rewarded by his Nice Guy (tm) antics, Allura finds them annoying as fuck]
Lance: [Allura becomes friendlier and starts treating him better when she sees there's more to him than being like a Nice Guy (tm)]
Lance: [struggles in a surprisingly realistic manner when Allura falls for another guy (and one that he has ACTUAL and not-romance related reasons not to like) and does his best to NOT be a Nice Guy (tm) because he truly likes her now]
Lance: [is finally loved back by Allura after he SHAKES OFF his Nice Guy (tm) traits and his once shallow feelings become actual and more mature love...]
This bitch: WHY ARE THEY TOGETHER?? WHY IS HE BEING 'REWARDED' WITH PUSSY? WHY IS THE STORY STRIPPING ALLURA'S AGENCY AWAY? WHY DID *LANCE* GET THE GIRL AND LOTOR DID NOT? WHY WHY WHY????

Me::story: :story: :story: :story: :story: :story:

I also fucking LOL'd at them trying to make VLD look like "a Heroine's Journey, a female centric romantic fantasy." Did this idiot actually watch the series or know that, ever since the GoLion days, the Voltron shows have been about teamwork and The Team's Journey and stuff? A bit of romance (or more than a bit) aren't verboten, of course, and liking a not-so wholesome ship like Lotura is not an inherent sin either, but still.

Thing to consider regarding Tumblrinas and their ill-supported "ships":

These people believe that friendship is just sexual attraction in its infancy. Merely paying attention to another person is adequate proof of their sexual destiny. They even go so far as to insist that characters who dislike and even attempt to murder one another just have "belligerent sexual tension". There is no platonic friendship, no enmity, no indifference, no respect. There is only sex, only and ever sex, nothing but boning one another constantly.

It tells you something about them, and how they see other people.

All this talk of a failed ship, and I can't help but feel that Shiro should have been dead seasons ago.

I mean he was the mentor character leading the team and it felt to me that they needed to ultimately lose him and learn to move forward without him, but keep the lessons they learned from him as they grew and developed.

It felt like they wanted to go that route, but never had the balls to fully pull the trigger. The clone reveal was a GIGANTIC cop out.

THANK YOU!

All DreamWorks had to do was follow the template established for the last 20 years in GoLion: "SHIRO DIES". The end of season 2 was set up for the greatest Kamina (from Gurren Lagann ) moment ever. But when DW went to that point, they blinked and didn't commit.

I found this interesting nugget of some of the major issues with Voltron.
I agree with alot of her points but disagree as well as she kind of missed the point.

The second part got copyrighted but it is up for download on her Youtube page

UPDATE:
On second thought after watching the second part, don't watch it.
It becomes full of Tumblr shit with POC, diversity, etc...
The dumb bitch starts defending Lotor.

She bring in some info why the shift in character Season 3 and up, but it gets "retarded" towards the end.
