The Sims Modding Community - "[Sims 4] Incest, Teen Romance, Babies For Everyone and more! UPDATED FOR 1.5.149.1020!"

alright, which one of you autistic fucks posted this to simsecret

the thing with sims 2 is that it's been out for 15 fucking years at this point, so the community's had a looooooong time for its cancer to really sink in. most of the mid-20 something cat ladies [dreadpirate, pooklet, etc.] who still run ts2 simblrs today and dream about punching terfs in the cheek (uwu) were the same 15 year olds writing godawful harry potter slash fics on livejournal and making shitty ts2 teen pregnancy amvs set to mcr. they never moved the fuck on which is why they're still shitting themselves over the same old premades and nasty ass makeovers to this day

i totally understand not wanting to move on from sims 2 because tbh 3 and especially 4 aren't really that great, but for the last few years there's been this running narrative among sims 2 players that their community is the best because they're so tight-knit and the game is so old that surely most of the drama whores have moved on by now. but it's fucking obvious that they're still wasting away on tumblr, bitching about those damn dirty nazis or gender issues, and asking for lunch money over paypal when they can't pay the rent

also i was sorta chummy with the dude who runs simsecret now [prah] back when i kinda orbited the ts2 scene and he was and still is a major sims 2 player, which i guess explains why there's some bias towards sims 2 secrets

The Sims 2 community has always been a gigantic drama cesspool.

Years ago, the front runners were:

- More Awesome than You
- Mod The Sims and founder Delphy’s pedo background
- The Paysites Must Be Destroyed vs The Sims Resource Drama (including someone named Coconut leaking all of TSR’s dirt, like doxxing several users)
- That time a dude named Walt bought the Insimminator forum and Pescado from More Awesome than You stole the whole thing and hosted in a new server.
- The baby BBQ (also made by Pescado)
- When EA and Livejournal became partners for a brief time and offered permanent accounts to some Sims players in exchange for sharing pictures from The Sims 3 and most of the community became enraged because TS3 was the devil so those players were traitors.
- Disagreement on the “official canon” for the premade Maxis Sims, particularly Bella Goth and the Strangetown sims.
- And, of course, Sim Secret.

I watched all that drama unfold... and it was hilarious.

However, when the community moved to Tumblr and adopted the SJW hive mind philosophy, the drama became insufferable.

- If you play with straight Sims, you are homophobic, but if you are straight and play with LGBTQ sims, then you are a fetishist.
- If you play with white Sims you are racist, but if you play with Sims of color, then it’s tokenism.
- If your skin tone defaults have slightly lighter Skin 3 and Skin 4 colors, you are racist. If you use dreads, braids or kinky hair on non-black sims, you are a racist.
- If you are a custom content creator and use the same Sims for your preview pictures, you are a racist, specially if they are white.
- Extreme policing of language.

You can’t win with these people, and honestly, you shouldn’t even try to please them. This game is just a glorified doll house and not a representation of reality. However, these cows will reblog your “bigoted” pictures to complain, post passive-aggressive Sim Secrets and/or send you anonymous death threats as private messages.

The drama has never left the Sims 2 community. If anything, it has become obnoxious and, as you said, the people who were loud lolcows back then are even louder now, and have scared the rest of the community off. Or maybe most players just grew up and decided that they were too old for this shit.

I still play the game now and then, and I still make custom content for myself, but I have zero interest in the community. I have peeked at some of the Discord servers and stuff is obnoxious there as well.

The only Sims community in which I can really say the drama whores have finally left is The Sims 1 community, mainly because it's so old that most of the sites are dead so everyone just kinda wants to get along on the few forums and blogs that still exist and make new content/share the old stuff from dead sites among themselves. The community isn't really centered around popular social media so there's no clout or woke points to be gained by being a whiny SJW. At least that's my experience; for some reason they really like using Yahoo Groups unironically in the year of our lord 2019 and I'm not in any of those ones so for all I know the discussion pages there could be a dumpster fire.

((All I want is for CTO Sims to come back online and a working license code for SimEnhancer3D, an external TS1 sim editor. It's still a pay software and since the creator still accepts payment for it that means it isn't "fair game" for sharing like custom content from long-dead sites so nobody is ever willing to give out pirated copies of it. I don't care if it's only $5, I'm not paying real money for a 20 year old Sims mod.))

even though i wasn't around for the early days of sims 2 i still distinctly remember pescado being the Big Bad of the sims 2 community and one of the owners of tsr apparently being a gay pedo or something. i've spent hours going through a ton of the old drama and yes, it's still pretty fucking hilarious (never even heard of the insim debacle before), it's just even more hilarious and a little discouraging to see that most of the stuff people shat themselves over in 2009 are things they're still shitting themselves over in 2019. delphy's been shit on a few times over the last years for letting lewd teen shit seep onto the main mts site, people are still going insane over their own 15 year old premade canons and simsecret is somehow still lingering around. pescado, tsr, and even mts are all completely irrelevant now but at least maty's still online so i can reminisce

i'd love to get back into the game but i have a bunch of bad memories associated with it and it's kind of impossible to anyway when the community's getting louder, cattier and more insular with time - sims 2 is so fucking ancient by now that a lot of the older content creators are starting to drop off like flies (sunni from plumbob keep passed away last year for example) and the few that are still left are a bunch of bitchy schizos that'll screech at you if you aren't offended by a character in a 15 year old dollhouse sim that was built so you could make your own characters if you don't give a shit about the ones the game comes with. shit makes me yearn for the days of shit like pescado's legendary baby grill

this might've been linked earlier in the thread but here's an old ass archive of sims 2 exchange stories which is miraculously still online. unfortunately they only archived the good content and none of the evil bella goth teen pregnancy stories but some of this shit is still fun to look through

i've seen bits and pieces of the ts1 community pop up occasionally but they're all on yahoo groups and old ass forums and shit that seem to like going down whenever i try combing through them so most of the time i don't even bother with it. i've heard some of the cto people are on facebook now or something but i'm not handing my social security number over to the zuck so i can download stuff for a 19 year old game. freeso seems like it's still chugging along though so i hope sims 1 still has some life left in it

Don't forget about all the drama with EA adding SecuROM to TS2's later Expansion Packs, I believe it was Bon Voyage that was the first EP to have SecuROM included. The community got so enraged by that that one of the SimMasters (moderators of the official BBS back in the day, which in itself was a dramafest), SimMasterBurpie, started banning people just for even talking about SecuROM. I don't how Burpie's actions regarding SecuROM fared compared to the outbursts by community manager SimGuruDrake that led to her either leaving or getting fired. SimGuruKate took over as community manager after that.

I consider Pescado kind of a Sims 2 Anti-hero. He was rude and weird, and trying to post a question at More Awesome Than You was inevitable met with mockery because you didn’t read the fucking manual.

He coded the baby BBQ to troll with the community and I admit that back then I was appalled by it. I was young and dumb, though, because the BBQ pales in comparison with the horrible stuff available nowadays.

But, on the other hand, he mocked pedos with the Awesomemod and he founded Paysites Must Be Destroyed and shared a ton of paid content that allowed us to realize how shitty most of it really was. He prevented Insiminator from becoming another paysites and helped Garden of Shadows stay alive when it was targeted by The Sims Resource.

I really miss that batshit insane community and the awesome creators you mention. The Tumblr and SJW community from 2019 is fucking irritating.

There is still some pretty good custom content that makes the game look real good, though, but you really have to manually search through Tumblr because the tags are a joke.

Oh, how could I forget about SecuROM? I wish there was a wiki for Sims drama. I googled the TSR-Coconut drama because I wanted to remember some details and only found a link to the Mares Nest and holy shit, they are insane. And also TSR apologists and liars. I was among the hundreds of users doxxed by TSR.

Not to mention that Pescado's mods fixed the games to make them more playable, i.e. the AL fixes when EA couldn't be assed to fix them, and other mods to prevent corruption in TS2, since that game is VERY prone to that if you are not careful, not to mention providing a fix for the infamous "Jump Bug" in vanilla TS2 until EA fixed that. And in regards to TS3, Awesomemod in itself made the game more tolerable to play. He hasn't done any TS4 stuff, but judging by the state of the game, it's probably a big enough mess that not even he could fix it like how he did for TS2 and TS3.

Speaking of drama, was YouTube also a source of Sims drama, either back then or now?

The amount of lost CC for TS1 really bums me out, especially official Maxis stuff like the Agent house. The Yahoo groups seem to keep drama out since no one can be bothered to join to start shit. The discussions have been pretty tame.

There was recently a video by Pixelade (a white guy who thinks he's a teenage black girl) accusing the community of racism if they weren't familiar with enough black simmers, even though if he practiced what he preached he wouldn't be playing exclusively maxis match and would make the switch to the trashy cc style of black simblr.

Black simblr is legitimately hilarious. It's photoskinning, trashy "family" pics, and monstrous proportions for days.

I've noticed a weird resurgence in photoskinning lately too. Perhaps it's a nostalgia thing? I feel like everyone agreed it looks terrible by like 2010 or so but then it just suddenly came back around.

I downloaded that one and it’s missing some of the CC items from the house, when you load it there’s a cute error message about missing items.

Photoskinning and alpha CC are just weird. Why change the style of the game?
