Vic Mignogna fired from Funimation & RoosterTeeth over accusations of sexual harassment

A lot of weebs started boycotting Funimation after the Prison School incident, but in all incidents to follow, they had more and more former customers fuck off. Funimation didn't even bother to respond, until the weebs started organizing into actual boycotts, at which point they put up that big purple message from earlier, which was neat because Funimation also neglected to add any context as to why there was outcry from the community in the first place.

The thing is, when that thing finally went nuclear, Funimation had already had like four previous strikes. Everyone knows about the shit they did in Prison School (random GG references, references to Clinton, and Dragon Maid (random feminist references, complete character dialogue re-writes that undermine the entire fucking show, etc), but it was Funimation's handling of Hajimete no Gal that finally caused the proverbial core breach and the boycott threats to emerge.

Good god, where to start with this one. If you're not familiar with this one, I'm not at all surprised, it's about as straightforward as harem animes get. It's a low-brow humor show with tits and I've never watched more than its trailer. The dub, meanwhile, basically slashes and burns intentionally attempting to take shot at Trump, VN fans, and basically anyone the clique at funimation takes issue with. There's an entire segment in one of the later episodes where they unironically have a dirty old man bitch about millenials and SJWs. Amusingly, this show's writing credit is completely blank, possibly in an effort to hide who was responsible.

But that's three for three where Jamie Marchi was the source of massive, sweeping, politically-motivated dialogue alterations (that she bragged about on Twitter later), and Funimation gave nary a fuck until boycotts got threatened.
In Shin Chan they talked shit about republicans a lot and there is a couple references to religious people and republicans in ghost stories. So them doing this isn't new it's just I think the pendulum has shifted so much people are tired of politics seeping into their hobby.
But Dragonball is hardly at the peak of its own popularity, is it? From the outside it really feels like that movie came out of nowhere and made some serious bank on a dead franchise. Dragonball was huge when I was in college… hell, in high school, even. What's next, a massive Tenchi Muyo or Cardcaptor Sakura movie?

With regards to boycotting Funimation, from the outside, it kind of feels like they're so huge that it would be difficult to do while still enjoying the hobby. It's like boycotting EA. I get that they do some really shitty things, but since they publish such a wide range of stuff, you'll end up throwing out a whole lot of babies with the bathwater.
With the release of Super Dragon Ball has gained a lot of new and old fans alike so it's not surprising it did well.

Funimation's handling of Hajimete no Gal

Fuck, I remember this. A friend recommended the dub simply because it was so bad, it's good (to him, had to take his statements with a grain of salt) and hearing about it I thought this was Funimation trying their hand at a gag dub. I watched that café clip shortly after it was making its rounds and it was so unbelievably bad it was funny to me since I didn't know the context.

I'm honestly shocked that Funimation hasn't tried their hand at dissing Mineta from BnH more because he's the embodiment of everything these people hate, but they apparently know better than to mess with their golden gooses. Also did they ever actually clean up that one dialogue from Dragon Ball Super that people were laughing their asses off at?

Difference though is that the jokes seemed way more light-hearted in Shin-chan, whereas in Dragon Maid, you can just FEEL the aggressive typing of the tumblrina writing the script

I'd be okay with this, except unfortunately Funimation has the licenses to them (the latter for the current Clear Card-hen) and Monica is Sakura. I just... don't want to hear her voice coming out of that girl, didn't even want to before this shitstorm started. (:_(

At this point I'm starting to think that 4KIDS Entertainment, as much of a fuck-up as they were, was just mostly a goofy weirdo with money management problems whose heart was in the right place but was completely subservient to the FCC.

To be fair, 4kids would occasionally put out gold. You can't listen to tell me that this isn't a fucking fantastic opener.

The edits I'm seeing from funi don't even have soul.

He's hugged and/or kissed fans at anime conventions. Some of them underage. That much we know for sure. However, that isn't illegal or wrong, per se.

At least one of them whose picture has been used doesn't want it used and says it was not only consensual but with parents' permission. Whether or not that's a particularly great thing is an interesting question, but it isn't consistent with the claims made about the photo. Whoever was using it lied about it.

Similarly, while he might be an asshole to con staff and in general, you have to stand in line for these things. If he's groping everyone in front of you and you're not interested in that, why not get the fuck out of the line?

If he's rampaging around groping randos that's another issue.

Also this was really good:
Better than Japan's honestly. Same with most of their intros, actually. Say what you want about the company, but they were pretty damn good intro makers if nothing else.

Why did Jamie Marchi AND Monica Rial become SJWs? I loved them as Panty and Stocking. This sucks big time :( :heart-empty: (:_(
They thought the show was positive when in reality it's just Imaishi and his pals making a South Park/Family Guy hybrid with Invader Zim's artstyle.

But thinking about it, Panty and Jamie are the fucking spitting image in terms of personality. All we need now is Marchi to sell herself as a stripper and we'd be golden.

His refusal to sign yaoi art might be based on his personal beliefs, but I don't think he's ever tried to launch a holy crusade against yaoi.

Even if it is, though, who cares? Shippers are subhuman retards who should be punched in the face and it's cringy beyond belief to bring your fucked up fetish shit to the stars of a show and want them to sign it. Whoever did that should commit suicide.

I accidentally came across this tweet on my TL and thought to add it here and come out of lurking

in the thread this person links to what he's talking about

these photos are really fishy as mentioned in the thread itself, swat protocol doesn't usually involve using their boots to ram a door open, but no matter what evidence people bring about how swat works, this person says the have cop relatives and they're the ones who are wrong.

hmmm

A lot of things don't add up here but if this is fabricated, like how it's looking like, why the need to make up more stuff to make vic's supporting side look this bad?

This is my first post here so I'm sorry if any formatting is off.

If that kind of idiocy means good dubs, then I wonder what other anime that were meant to be jokes that they thought were positive.

EDIT: I disagree about Marchi being similar to her character same with Rial because unlike them, their characters took steps to being better people as they developed.

Oh right, I forgot. My bad.

Even if it is, though, who cares? Shippers are subhuman exceptional individuals who should be punched in the face and it's cringy beyond belief to bring your fucked up fetish shit to the stars of a show and want them to sign it. Whoever did that should commit suicide.
And the fact they're bitching about Vic not being accepting of their fetish art is just poor logic and they should have been called out long before the rest of the accusations came to be.

A new piece added to this complicated puzzle of Vic Mignogna and Funimation.

And sorry if someone else might have already posted it but there's another vlog talking of Sean Schemmel triggered.
