Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

That's fine. I always preferred their Canadian voice actors anyway.

Yes God give me Kirby Morrow and Brad Swalie any day.

I am just remembering something. Funimation just recently lost the licensing for Full Metal Alchemist right? They've been losing the license to a lot of anime....

>Here's video proof "well how do we know that wasn't staged or altered?"
Oh gee, it would have been nice to believe if concocted 'proof' wasn't used multiple times, down to screencaps of that one broad offering to photoshop some hands.

Also, an assblast from the past:

Wouldn't expect anything less from the guy who called himself: The Anime Pope.

I wonder what the ex-4kids voice actors think of this

Dodged a bullet with this one. But don't worry. Bang Zoom and Cup of Tea productions will probably get hit next.

God so both Vic and Amanda Winn are on lists of banned convention guests? Certainly says a lot. Any other voice actors been banned?

Alright, no more derailing the thread. Real talk:
Is this whole shitshow going to be the beginning of the end with Western anime?
I'm not talking like within a few years, but somewhere down the line. Will enough people get sick of this bullshit that they skip over American/Western middlemen, and instead get their stuff straight out of Japan?

I'm already speculating that something along those lines will eventually happen, considering how much drama and bullshit politics are getting mixed up in people's entertainment. Particularly when you look to those awful dubs about patriarchy and gamergate creeps. These guys are messing with the author's original source material to insert their own hot takes. That's pretty fucked if you ask me.
In all serious? I doubt it. Even if Funimation doesn't survive, there's still the L.A. voice pool. Plus Canada, New York and the UK exist, so dubs could easilly become more of a thing in those places like they used to be in the 90s through the 2000s again.

If anything, unless Japan decides to cut all ties with American licensors or dubbing companies, I don't see it being the end insomuch as an incredibly rough patch.

I was talking Pre-Funi cast Saban's dub, not AB Groupe.

Also yeah, Aniplex owns FMA now.

Nick talks some more about this situation. It's interesting that Nick starts off with the fact that her finds the lead attorney to be competent and professional. At a first glance I was pretty wary of the guy, because IP lawsuits by patent trolls are generally based out of east Texas and he seemed like he had something to do with them.

The most wild thing about this is as a former weeb and con goer I was 1000% ready to believe Vic was a creeper because the rumors had ALWAYS been a part of the convention scene, and surely out of dozens upon dozens of accusations, even if some were made up or hyperbole, some had to be true. Right? But after watching this all unfold over the last few weeks at this point I don't even know. The fact that we can prove so much of the 'evidence' is fake is just... I'm just flabbergasted that a side I was completely willing to believe without any critical thought whatsoever managed to sabotage their own argument so hard.

Only thing we really have about Vic is 1) He's an Italian-American, and thus very touchy-feely and a hugger.

2) He tends to proselytise as a devout christian.

It just makes you look like a concern troll trying to steer discussion

I don't mind people like @KillThemCrackasBabies expressing some skepticism.

But yeah. This was discussed ad-nauseam in the old thread. There's fuck all for proof. Some people, like myself, think you should have some proof before trying to perma-fuck somebody's career. It's not just Vic, it's the way this whole #metoo shit has been handled that needs to end. I don't know how to make that any more clear. I'm not even a big Vic fan. I watched FMA:B subbed.

At the end of the day, this thread is here not as a crusade, but a celebration of how exceptional his detractors have become. The fact that it's going into a lawsuit means the tard cum will flow liberally.

So... Take this with a bit of a grain of salt... But a bunch of Ani-tubers were talking about this and one of them decided to leak all this out. It was also confirmed by person 4 that this was a thing that happened.

Also, love the line "Blind fans and misogynists".

Really, really, REALLY makes me wonder how the hell this guy is getting SO MANY DAMN SUBS on youtube.

... This coming from the CrunchyRoll shill...

Well that escalated quickly :story:. They really moved quick to put the wrong thinker into a struggle session. It was literally a meme!

I love how this entire shitshow is a microcosm of the Brett Kavanaugh drama - definitely getting a whole "Salem witch trials" vibe from this whole thing.
  • Accusations of sexual assault with no evidence / even a police report
  • Fake bomb threats at an anime convention
  • Fake evidence (e.g. the original picture of Vic kissing the girl) plus discussions of faking evidence
  • Fake allegations of swatting (pulled straight from the Brianna Wu playbook)
  • Calling Vic's lawyer a racist, and failing exceptionally to try to get him disbarred (hint future lawyers who might want to defend these idiots, maybe it isn't a great idea to try to defend people who try to get people disbarred and call them racists when things don't go their way.)
You'd think these weebs would've played a Phoenix Wright game or two. You couldn't make this shit up - it's like they all read a bunch of Vox Day and larp as SJWs from those books.
It's the exact same fucking thing. These dumb fucks, just as they did with Kavanaugh, overplayed their hand. They couldn't have just had one or two people make the allegation. EVERYONE needs to jump in with a #metoo story and get asspats, they need to fake evidence and allegations to get that sweet internet pat on the back. Thanks to idiots like these, people don't believe allegations like this anymore. We see these rape/SA allegations for what they are, weapons to attack people for their political beliefs. That's the great irony, these feminist women are setting themselves back, people don't trust them anymore. That is what #metoo is about. It's not about the victims of rape and SA, the REAL victims who suffer through that experience, it's about getting a pat on the ass for being a "brave individual" and taking it to those evil conservatives.

Vic always did come off as kinda weird, but really that's probably normal for something like the anime industry. And I'm kinda glad that these people are being called out on their bullshit. Like seriously, lying about being swatted? That's pretty pathetic.
