Weeb Wars / AnimeGate / #KickVic / #IStandWithVic / #vickicksback - General Discussion Thread

He don't care. He got the clicks.

I am concerned that Japan has a Gender Studies in their universities, though. Why can't they be like Hungary and say, "笑いいえ"*.

*Google translate, but it should be "lol no"
return the emperor of japan to his rightful place. At the head of government and he will disperse all the weeb bucks to make artificial wombs and kill the Chinese part 2 “We will make Nanjing look like a fucking joke” Boogaloo.

Archived some more shit, mostly what's already been posted in this thread. I echo the sentiment that we need to archive fucking everything.

HeroHei is in panic mode over that JapanTimes article:

Since he probably lurks on the thread, it's Japanese in name only. It's for westerners, by westerners.
Yeah, not gonna click on that. No one is going to care in a few days anyway, especially since as we all know, no one can verify shit about Vic Mignogna's sexual harassment claim.

So yeah, is it just marketing being stupid or is it marketing being woke? Explain to me why they hate money.

I wish I could, but I would point out that some of them actually receive sponsorship from Funimation (Shane's "con" does). It could be that some of them think pissing off Funi is now worse than the drop in attendance and internet shit show.

Cons TEND to suck industry dick above anything else. It's worked pretty good for them too. That's what the JT article gets wrong. Cons didn't suddenly become woke and drive this response (though I'm sure many cons are woke). Funi did. Anime Matsuri has bucked the trend of relying on industry. Neither Funi nor Sentai want anything to do with AM, and they've managed to hold on.

Considering that our thread in on the first page of Google when typing #kickvic, I don't think it's unreasonable to say that this thread is responsible for Kiwi Farms reaching near its all-time height. We could surpass it in a matter of weeks. Heck, if Mignogna's lawyers bring up Kiwi Farms as evidence, it's going to bring us a lot of attention.

More likely we come up as "alt-right" shitheads of some sort.

God he comes across as a skeptic with the whole

"THE ESS JAY DOUBLE YOU'S ARE SUBVERTING OTHER COUNTRIES" when most of them are entitled rich kids who never received consequences for their actions.

Actually, there's an group in Japan that wants to do some pretty radical right-wing shit, and the Prime Minister is a member of it. It's called Nippon Kaigi.

The Prime Minister is also the same one that has been putting the screws on Japan Times.

Hero_Hei sounds like he's being autistic. I hope he's doing it just for clicks like the rest of them.

Bad wording on my part, I meant to say this thread is partially responsible for the increase in exposure to Kiwi Farms given that we should never underestimate the lols that entertainment media gives us.
In the same AFE vein, here's Lynzee farming for info from former Vic fans and even attempting to seek out an old fangroup:
I linked it in the post I made but I'm glad you made me recheck. I did not realize that I linked it incorrectly so I went and fixed it.

Wait until that comes up in court.

I mean, in football when a team drops a valuable quarterback because of behavior issues another team is on that shit like a fly. They're right there ready to catch the guy for their team and Vic is a crowd pleaser and draws in the audience, you'd think any one of these companies would snatch him up now that his obligation with Funimation is over.
I dunno, Ray Rice was a good player and never played football again after his arrest. Granted, he committed his crimes on camera unlike Vic.

Anything of value from the Post-Conmunity Stream. I missed it live and don't have time to sit through the entire thing.

From what I can recall, the most relevant thing to Weeb Wars was that he went over what he thought would be likely defenses from the targets of litigation, should any of these cases go to court.

Allison Cooke / hanleia / finnrey / gogoeeg

Good God, I hope I never end up on your shit list. Well done.

I have always found it strange how people deify voice actors, especially Vic in particular. FMA is old as shit. Broly is a popular character and all but he's kind of a potato personality wise (though I haven't seen the new movie, so maybe he has some personality now). He's not Goku, Vegeta, Piccolo, Krillin or long time beloved character. Why does Vic disproportionately get so much attention? He's been at almost every con I go to, everyone has seen him, he is nothing special? I really don't get it. I imagine it has a lot to do with self-promotion.

Aside form being rather handsome and voicing a character in FMA that fangirls swoon over to this day, from what I've seen of his con panels and such, he seems to be a very charismatic person IRL too.

I had a buddy from college who lived in an eastern European country for a while. I was talking to her a while back and somehow the conversation came to discussing the English-language media over there. She said that the newspapers were written as if Anglophone ex-pats were the audience, but in reality the majority of the people buying the papers were English students. Like a class would buy a paper for each student and tell them to pick out an article and give a two-minute speech summarizing it or that sort of thing. I suspect the same thing is true for the Japan Times.

It's been a rumour for over a decade that Vic is creepy. I find it weird so many people are defending him.
Being creepy isn't a crime, I know, just fwiw I don't really believe he is innocent.
The problem is that he's being brigraded by the outrage mob as a super rapist with unverifiable stories and proven lies. Is he creepy? Maybe, but if people are gonna accuse others of shit like that, they need to be able to back it up. If it turns out he's innocent and is just weird about personal space, those people deserve to be dragged for making this a bigger deal than it is. If it turns out there's hard proof he's a scumbag, him and everyone who protected for him years deserves to be dragged. I and a bunch of other people want hard evidence. That's it. None of this #metoo and trial by twitter shit.

Ray Rice was also indicted by a grand jury which is far more than anything that happened to Vic.

Nick said it in one of his streams. Win or lose, it's a good thing for Vic to go to court. If he wins, he's vindicated in the eyes of the public, plus salvages his career. If he loses, it means he got his day in court like everybody deserves to, and there's no speculation whether he was a creep or not.
