It's good to know that the wheels (of justice) are indeed moving. I'm kinda surprised if he didn't get a retraction request, thought maybe he didn't personally say anything defamatory ...or he's not being sued, just deposed/audited. As Nick's pointed out, he's going to be quite the fun witness without spousal privilege.

Edit: Anybody know how long Monica and Soye have been cohabitating? If they claim common-law marriage and can back it up, that might be a speedbump on the road.

Common law marriage isn't really a thing for this from what I know about it (not a lawyer). From what i understand it's a thing when it comes to separation and there is fighting over who owns what property and has rights over any children. And even then not every state recognizes it as a thing at all.

It depends on the state. Rhode Island only recognizes for inheritance, but other states have extended additional rights that would comport with formal "licensed" or "statutory" marriage.

However, it's ENTIRELY a moot point here because Texas doesn't recognize common law marriage at all. In fact, a super-majority of states don't recognize it, and the trend has been to abolish it. Georgia dropped it in 1997. PA dropped it in 2005. Et cetera.

They're not married. She has a boy "toye." Nothing more.

EDIT: Disregard that. I suck cocks.

both she and Blum have have retweeted and liked KickVic stuff so their stances are pretty clear.Mind you,Blum and Vic were apparently really close friends when Vic moved out to LA years ago...
I had a feeling that was the case, but since it's mostly passive stuff like retweets/likes I'm going to go with what @OneHandClapping said and hope that she's only doing this to keep future work on the table whilst being to be on the "right" side of this debacle (whichever that one is in the end). @Clint Westwood also mentioned that while she did (and as far as I know, still does) believe Kavanaugh's accusers she was more mature about it than most.

On the other hand, she does VA work for Steven Universe and some of the VAs on that can be pretty retarded when it comes to politics on social media (with Grace Rolek and Charlyne Yi being the biggest offenders).

Actually, Texas does recognize it.

How much this'll impact the case, or whether or not it'll be recognized remains to be seen...

Oddly in the blue commiefornia state commonlaw doesn't exist (one too many hollywood actors would've been hit).

That could be interesting as common law doesn't acknowledge cucks. /JMO

I stand corrected. It wasn't on the list provided me. This is why you don't rely on Google for law. I apologize for pulling a Shane. I will ask forgiveness from the Chair God.

So the question would then be whether there is spousal privilege in a common law marriage in Texas.

However, it's my understanding that in every common law marriage you have to actually hold yourself out to the public as married. They've held themselves out as engaged throughout the whole shit show. Would that not negate a claim they are in a common law marriage?

The cuckoldry bit would be interesting.

Small update that Ron Soye got a letter to not delete anything about Vic and is "happy to comply :)"

“Oh no I didn’t get a summons! I just got a letter demanding I not delete or destroy anything and to preserve all evidence! Totally not getting sued!”

See, no problem, it’s nothing official, it’s all a scam like I said. /headesk! He can’t actually be this stupid, can he?

Re: Autographs: I distinctly remember Tara Strong asking for 40-60 bucks cash for her signature while everyone else asked for 20 via autograph vouchers you bought from the con. Strong also had resting bitch face the entire time and looked like she hated being at the con every second. Shocker that barely anybody got her autograph at that con, why spend 60 on some VA who clearly hates her fans when you can spend a third of that on a writer who is thrilled to hear you love their work?

Question for any Commonwealth members who might read this:

Do a lot people in your country seriously not comprehend that the United States declared full independence from the UK, and we really don't give a fuck about your laws in our own domestic situations?

This seems to be happening a lot.

Maybe he's actually that stupid, maybe it's willful ignorance, or perhaps he's putting on a face without "technically" lying. No matter what he says his circumstance is not going to change. He's fucked.

Canadians love to talk and bitch about American politics and laws more than they even talk about their own.

Yea, he basically admitted to malice and God knows what else on Twitter. That's most likely why Ty tweeted at him.

Not Canadian but sounds like he is trying to say Nick is instigating harassment by just insulting people. Not directing people , just insulting them and then Nick fans join in. It's pretty dumb.

That’s what I can’t quite comprehend with him and Rial. They don’t seem to understand, there is no scenario or situation in this where they come out as winners. There is no situation where Vic loses. They have already taken everything from him, defamed him and removed his ability to work. His litigation is well funded by his fans, and his case will be made in Texas. Worst case for him, nothing in his situation changes.

SoyToye and Rial have no win situation. This costs them brutally no matter what. At a minimum they each spend $30,000-$50,000 just to defend themselves. And that’s just legal costs. There are no provisions in Texas Law for them to get back attorney fees. We discovered that while researching Meyer v Waid. Every single thing that happens here is a sunk cost for them. There is no proud heroic win at trial. They will be forced to bear witness against each other. Against their employers, and against their community. The bad PR from this alone damages their careers. There is no win scenario for them. All there is is how painful will the final bill be. They pushed a colleague literally to the point where he has absolutely nothing more to lose, while they have everything. This is a bad situation to be in.

Oh and just for laughs Ron, that do not destroy order likely also applies to related communications such as with the Minnesota State Bar. I really hope you didn’t fraudulently file a false sworn statement reporting a lawyer for malfeasance, or encourage others to do the same? Because once again, it costs him nothing to make your life a living legal hell, save maybe a decent bottle of Scotch. Whereas that’s another $50k towhatever Lawyer you can find in the phone book.

Yea, he basically admitted to malice and God knows what else on Twitter. That's most likely why Ty tweeted at him.

Ty tweeted him to get a reaction. And Toye gave him exactly the reaction Ty wanted. It’s astonishing how stupid these people are.

One more time for the slower students. There is $100,000 in an IOLTA thanks to Vic’s fans. Once the Lawyers are getting paid, somebody is gonna get sued. The last fool to shut up is the one that gets the biggest legal ass raping. Real Life is not Twitter. But everything you Tweet can and will be used against you in a court of law. Very effectively used against you.

Given that Soy Toye has said he got the “preserve all evidence” letter, it is equally likely that at a minimum Monica Rial’s got the request for retraction of defamation letter earlier in the week. If so it appears that her immediate response was to tweet out “I refuse to retract anything”. Congratulations dipshit! You just put exemplary damages on the table! Well done!

Has anybody heard from Marzgurl lately? Somebody might want to check in with her Suicide prevention cat. Because I’m thinking she might be having a few bad days.
