“I want to go to the jail and I want to sit in the cell with him, alone, and I want to tell him that I forgive him, that I love him and that God loves him. That’s what I want to do.”

Wow. Stop pretending to be Jesus. The guy did something awful and needs to be locked up as an example. By all means don't carry the anger around with you forever, but openly forgiving someone before they've expressed the slightest contrition is a recipe for disaster.
You don't know much about Christianity, do you?

Yes, and that's because living up to Christ's example is very hard, impossible even. But that does not make following his example wrong.
That's just a cop-out. It makes sense as an explanation for cussing your neighbor out once and still calling yourself a Christian or something like that, but when it's something NOBODY does, not so much.

Priests and monks do it a lot, because they've divested themselves of Earthly things and have turned their will fully to following Christ's example. So did most of the martyrs. I'll remind you that Christ forgave the soldiers who came to seize him in Gethsemane and the very crowd which condemned him to die. His followers wanted to strike down the Romans and the Pharisees for the Crucifixion, but Christ forbade this, both before and after his death. To live a Christly life and to live a normal life are irreconcilable, which is why things such as intercession are important.
I personally find it confusing that you are angry at this man for acting in line with the behavior of the saints and profits, but then I remember Luke 6:22.

Religion is rife with contradictions.
Jesus died for your sins - Repent for your sins.

If Jesus died for your sins then you don't need to repent, homeboy has your back.
It's all social control. If you believe in the pure teachings of Jesus - a dude who was more like a cult leader than anything saintly, then you're going to have to disregard modern Christianity's teachings.

Historical Jesus was an asshole. He treated people like shit and that's why he got strung up.

The idea of Jesus is good though. The dashing blonde saint who forgives people and loves everyone, is kind and gentle - he's great, but historical Jesus wasn't him. So from the get go you're faced with contradictions of reality, there is no right way.

On what grounds is that entire second half based? One of Bill Maher's films?
