While that's likely, you don't need an ulterior motive to want to keep depositions confidential. Most litigation is settled out of court - meaning the depositions are never formally introduced as evidence (and therefore are not publicly available).

Even when things do go to court, there's still going to be a substantial amount of information in the depositions which is not relevant to the proceedings and therefore not admitted as evidence. It's not really in either party's interests for that information to be unnecessarily public.

I also think that it's wrong to view this in terms of "Vic wants" or "Monica and Ron want". Both sides are almost certainly following the advice of their counsel regarding strategy, regardless of what they - personally - want.

Remember that MoRon are both autistic adult babies living in a bubble world. Ron fell to hysterical pieces just being told "We will be in touch." He is literally such a fragile baby that he considers that to be something you can report to a bar association.

Imagine him in deposition or on the stand having to answer questions from hostile women who don't give a fuck about Ron Soye or his emotional issues. He'd fall completely to pieces, maybe even start crying.

Maybe Casey sees this and wants to keep this rolling, but he has to keep these autistic babies out of anything where their precious fee fees might have to come into collision with reality because he doesn't think it will last long after that. That would make it an absolute priority to preserve their safe space hugbox by any means necessary.

Derek Padula claimed that he had a source saying that the kiss was from a voice actor's fiancee or girlfriend, I think. Whether that is reliable remains to be seen. Looking into it, though, it does remind you and I of the incident Rial mentioned.

Here's my theory on this. Something tells me that Funimation and Sony are not in sync with each other, despite one being owned by the other. Sony might have had no idea this lawsuit was happening. There's no way Sony could let this happen, nor keep this investigation private as a means to waste money and time on this lawsuit. The only reason why the investigation is confidential, in Nick's view, is because there could be defamatory statements in the investigation that could lead to more potential lawsuits made by the Beard.

This is all conjecture, but what I think is that Sony did an incomplete investigation, only questioning Vic on the three "sexual harassment" allegations, then letting Funimation let Vic go. What Sony wouldn't have expected was Funimation making a public announcement that an investigation was happening and that they let go of Vic because of muh harassment.

The other option is that Vic wasn't being honest about the investigation, but do you really think he'd want to die on that hill at this point?

There's no reason for the confidentiality of this investigation if there was something discovered. It's going to come out anyway after the anti-SLAPP/TCPA issue is dealt with.
