What the hell happened here?
The weirdest thing about this one is that it looks like its normal self in other stylesIt became completely kid-ified. In an age where kids CAN handle stuff like Naruto, Jojo, Dragon Ball (whatever it is), and whatever else violent anime everyone obsesses over, just fine. How tragic...
That CGI effort is pretty weak.Tillie (the eponymous The Little Engine That Could character)... what have they done to you?!
Granted, The Little Engine That Could was originally a children's book first published in 1930. Over the years and multiple reprints (and adaptions,) various illustrators have made their own takes on Tillie. The most iconic version of Tillie has her face placed on her distinctive smokestack, as in this book cover below.

Other iterations have her face on her smokebox, much like Thomas the Tank Engine and his ilk.

Then there's... this.

Not my cup of tea, but at least it's less horrifying than the CGI abomination.
I'm all for giving one's own spin on a character's classic appearance and experimenting with radical redesigns, but some designs are better left unused or tossed into the wastebasket... shudder.

Dang, that's pretty cute! I'm such a sucker for this style of vintage illustrations, especially with limited colors! When I was a little kid, I enjoyed borrowing The Little Red Engine books by Diana Ross (not the singer) from the library.

It had lanterns as the eyes like the CGI version of Tillie but the lanterns were right at the front of the engine.
The first Little Red Engine book was published in England in 1940, so a decade after The Little Engine that Could but 6 years before the first Thomas the Tank Engine book (which was the second book in the series, the first one didn't contain Thomas, apparently).

I'm glad you're noticing that!Since joining the farms, I've become completely turned off to the calarts style.
It's just so lazy.
Putting the eyes that far apart just screams uncanny valley. That CGI effort is pretty weak.

I don't know what it's actually called, but some animes make characters legs insanely long. It just seems really off to me. All of the characters look like they're 8ft tall, and it causes the male characters to look too girlish.

I'm guessing they didn't do the writing for that one. Most of the characters are pretty good, outside of Suzaku whom is a massive faggot from what I've seen so far.Character design was done by CLAMP, who aren't exactly masters of human anatomy.
