Rob Liefeld got a lot of shit for his drawings, but like Stan Lee he was tight as fuck when it came to deadlines. Shockingly, being extremely reliable was the secret to getting tons of work in an industry of flakes.

A tale of epic delays.

Marvel's recent golden boy Jonathan Hickman set up the super-crossover event, Secret Wars, a storyline that involved every Marvel book they were publishing while destroying every universe paving the way for a new and unified one. Absolutely everything and everyone was part of this alternate-reality cross over.

Hickman himself had planted the seeds years before and wrote the backbone of it all, the actual Secret Wars book that would have the big reveal, the Lost like secret and the ending where a new universe would be forged. But he was behind schedule even though he's had like five years to get this right. For most titles in "BattleWorld"(the secret wars universe) that wasn't much of a problem, they barely interacted with the main story line. For others it was troublesome, issues were finished but couldn't be released or it would spoil something from the main storyline.

The delays became a huge problem when everyone had concluded except for him, the plan was that the SW titles would roll into proper monthly titles in the all new-old universe(tagline 'All-New, All-Different Marvel'), mostly merging the worthwhile parts of Ultimate and 616.

Hickman just had to crank out the last couple of issues resolving everything so that they could RELAUNCH THE ENTIRE MARVEL LINE-UP! He held the line up for months iirc, his release schedule was the drum that everyone marched to. I think in the end Marvel just said fuck it, we need some revenue, this looks like shit, and started releasing some titles set after the conclusion of Secret War.

For an encore, the same thing happened with the next year's big event, Civil War II.

Year after that they had the sense to get a platoon of artists cranking on the big event book so it could keep to a schedule.

Both sides were definitely riddled with exceptionalism and dumbassery in GamerGate, but if you read how the SJWs saw it, you will see a completely different version of reality which has only the barest relationship to fact.

Really both sides were delusional to a greater or lesser extent, but as per usual only the left side claim their lies as coming from a place of moral superiority, and the whole thing really kicked off because they were too hasty to shut down all discussion around the initial topics, rather than actually defending their arguments or verifying the truth of what the loudest victims were claiming.

That's what gets me. The last guy wants to cut her some slack but says even he's concerned about the lack of response from Zoe, but they got one. She essentially said 'Nah, the money's gone, I'm not putting more effort in, I'm too poor to finish it.' Anyone pushing the issue just got blocked and added to her infinite list of 'harassers'.

The Tingle game was a scam - though I think like most of her scams she has the idea and an intent to follow through on Day 1, but as soon as there's no fun involved she just takes the money and moves on. I have a personal theory that it's the main reason she sabotaged that game jam TV show, because it would involve work - and not only that, work she was actually unable to do.

But slowly, too slowly but still, more and more backers are realising it. She'll just always have defenders, people who'll deny what's staring them in the face, people who'll even forgive her for taking their money and offer her more, because that's the price of being an ally apparently. GamerGate was easily the best thing that could have ever happened to her, which she clearly knows despite claiming she's tired of talking about it. Otherwise she wouldn't jump in whenever someone dares to make an assessment of it without consulting her first.

And now Geoff Johns is sort of doing the same thing with Doomsday Clock, but at least there are no other books tied into it, which means other books don't have to wait for him to catch up. However, if the series is ramping up to undo Flashpoint like some people believe, then in a way Johns is holding all the other DC books back since they can't reflect those changes without blowing the surprise.
