So saying "fuck your shirts, I'm not going to wear or buy one" is more supportive of strong independent people of indigenous than wanting to buy a shirt with indigenous designs? Okay, got it
If white people are forbidden to buy the handicrafts of indigenous people (doesn't matter if it's American Indians, Australian Aboriginals, Maori, Africans, whoever), then there's a lot of said indigenous people who will be (even more) impoverished and starve. They make a bunch of money selling shit to non-native tourists, because they know non-native tourists appreciate their culture. Your average tourist to an Indian reservation is going to be an older white guy who grew up a fan of Westerns (very popular in the 50s and before) and became interested in the Indians who were usually portrayed as the bad guys. They want to see bits of the once proud culture that was such a threat to the American army and settlers and inspired so much romanticism, and they aren't white supremacists either--many take genuine pity on how the Indians were treated and what their current state is (Westerns like The Searchers did too where the white people are just as violently murderous as the Indians).
So... why is the logo at the top a young black girl stuffing a hamburger into her mouth?

Take away this little bit of tourism and the Indian reservations are even worse than they already are, losing that nice bit of outside funds, crippling the income of those last few who craft traditional goods, etc. It's straight up cultural genocide, especially since Indians themselves (who rarely are involved with this "activism" except a few who claim to speak for not just their own ethnic group but all Indians) rely on this income and cultural interest to keep their own culture alive. "Indigenous goods", "people of color," that's an utter joke, especially when the "Five Civilized Tribes" (i.e. Cherokee, Creek, etc.) were considered civilized because they adopted European lifestyles which included owning African slaves. The Cherokee Nation has had conflicts with the Cherokee freedmen (black slaves they once owned), and many Cherokee under Stand Watie (plus other Indians) fought on the side of the Confederate States in the Civil War because the cause of slavery and states rights promised more for Indians than what the Union had to offer--Stand Watie was the last CSA general to surrender too, for that matter.
It's absolute historical and cultural ignorance which leads these people to adopt beliefs like this.
I find it interesting that we talk about how Carlin would have handled SJW culture, but I'm really curious to know how Bill Hicks would react to "Current Year" if he were alive today.
Based on his stand-up material, you'd think he'd either go SJW (he was a lefty who despised corporatism and organized religion) or more likely veer deep into fedora territory (especially given his posthumous popularity in those circles) but I get this feeling he would have nothing but utter contempt for both crowds.
If Bill Hicks were alive today, I have this weird feeling he'd likely be a lot like us Kiwis and openly mock the idiots on both sides.
He went after the proto-SJW Tipper Gore/Joe Lieberman liberals a fair bit (particularly in his very early work) and given his disdain for New Kids On The Block and the entire premise of the Arizona Bay album, he'd have a field day with the SJW hipsters and soy boys if he were here today.
Most of his material went after conservatives (especially the Religious Right) because those were the main moral guardians in his lifetime and were still powerful years after he died.
Bill Hicks died in 1994 when the internet was in its early infancy. If you listen to his material, he's clearly an atheist and left-leaning by the standards of the early 90's, but several interviews and even a few stand-up bits of his (such as the one about Waco) indicate that he wasn't completely euphoric like the SJW's and fedora atheists of today.
Hicks clearly believed in religious freedom and free speech, and was pissed at how the feds behaved at Waco (he was actually living in that part of Texas at the time) and his stand-up pointed out the hypocrisy of the media going after a fringe loony like David Koresh for child abuse (which wasn't even officially confirmed until afterwards) while largely turning a blind eye to widespread abuse committed by mainstream religious figures, saying "Why isn't the FBI sending tanks into Catholic churches then?" which is kind of eerily relevant in the age of #MeToo where innocent men like Vic Mignogna get crucified while actual predators like Asia Argento and Yaniv get a pass because they tow the party line of "acceptable opinions"
TL;DR-If Bill Hicks were alive in 2019, he'd probably be a Kiwi and likely a shitposter to boot
To what extent has Canada oppressed its natives? I’m mostly just familiar with what the US has done, which is a long, long list (the impact of Manifest Destiny, the Indian Removal Act/Trail of Tears, the Wounded Knee Massacre, various Indian Wars, our own Residential Schools, etc...)The real irony is that you'd get assholes like Trudeau applauding the poster shown, while stuffing his foot in his mouth talking about legitimately horrible shit done by residential schools, and granting Natives voting rights in exchange for perpetualy surrendering their claim to treaty status. The dumb fuck claimed we engaged in genocide, and now he's being investigated by Amnesty International and a couple other groups are demanding the right to begin an investigation to verify that a genoicde occurred.

Forgive my Burgerland ignorance, but the only thing I’ve heard about regarding Canada was its Residential School system. What’s crudely funny to me is that Canada has been falling all over itself to make up for Residential Schools and yet the US government regarding its endless atrocities is just sort of. In fact, twenty Medals of Honor were awarded for the Wounded Knee incident by the US Army, that was 129 years ago and the government is still like "lol idk".
The last residential school closed in 1996. They lasted a lot longer than people realize.Put it this way - it was almost completely wound down before Woodstock.

The worst part of all of this for me is this idea that if enough people feel bad about this shit that happened years before they were born and just wring their hands hard enough all this evil will be somehow corrected. Like all the dead from all these wars will pop out of their graves or some shit. There’s a real absurd “year zero” shit going on in their heads.Thank you for sucking my dick.
They're pretty bad to this day, imo worse than the U.S. despite their pious moralizing.
It's notorious that there are numerous active serial killers killing mostly native women, and the resources devoted to it are nearly nothing, which is pretty much an open invitation to predators. Google Highway of Tears.
I've met people that went back to their reserves of origin, intending to start training and apprenticeship programs and were told the band wasn't interested, because they were afraid to lose their gibs, if the band became even vaguely self-sufficient, and I know of a reserve where a chief took power back in the 90's on the promise of "rooting out the old-boy's network, and squashing nepotism", and the only actual change is it's HIS family occupying all the positions of power and privilege.

This man is a Senior Analyst for a video game marketing company and cannot understand that an image that suggests
Metal Gear Solid is not political
Overwatch is political
is ironic. Overwatch doesn't even have a real story, how could it be political?
I'm surprised Meryl Streep is still worshiped by the woke-cunt brigade considering she was really close to Weinstein and apparently she was aware of his "hobbies".
