Careercow Max Landis

How do you know they knew? Especially with your next sentence:

Maybe Max also picks victims based on their unawareness of his shitty behaviour in the past?
My whole point is "the supposed victims might not have pressed charges since they feared the legal repercussions that would hit them in retaliation", the same is true when it comes to gossip. For one thing, going "Oh yeah, there was this one time Max Landis beat me up with a belt and forced me to have sex with him" is a really bad opener to a conversation, that is to say, most victims would feel ashamed and keep it to themselves. On the other hand, if they went around gossiping too much about this, Max could possibly press charges over defamation, too.
So I have no clue why you assume that Max' supposed daterape reputation is so well-known to everyone and that women entered a relationship with him knowing that.

I doubt you understand how such people operate, tbh. They don't beat you to a blood pulp and rape you on your first date and the women come crawling back for more. They slowly escalate this shit. That's how abusive people work, with emotional and mental manipulation. With endless promises about how they will change or gaslighting the other person. Abusive people pick victims that are prone to fall for this shit. That's what makes them so dangerous. Again, you can't tell me you're not aware that this shit is a dime-a-dozen happenstance with regular people, too?

Are you only selectively reading my posts? I already mentioned that it's seen in ordinary, non-Hollywood Monsters situations, too.

Max Landis, according to Whitney, mentioned that he had a dark past or however dramatic turn of phrase he used. Anyway, as much empathy I feel for them, they still chose to be cogs of a shitty machine that takes people and churns out soulless shells.

I only bring it up, since it reads like you're completely unaware that abusive relationships are a thing even if women do not get money and fame out of it.

So?

Waiting for these women or someone to spill some actual Tea on this guy. I remember when this happened in 2017 and we were all blue balled. There has got to be something to it because he has not spoken publicly since then to my knowledge.

I'm more convinced that if there was any substance to the allegations then it would have come out by now.

Given how universally reviled Landis is, can anyone think of a reason as to why women would be holding back on these stories about their abuse? Waiting for the #metoo movement to pick up steam?

Waiting to see if he brings his blackmail payments due. I have little doubt he's involved in fishy shit, but that it's the kind of thing which can be easily interpreted as something horrible he did versus what it actually likely was: consensual.

This is just another case of "guy is a dickhead and that's enough to get people swallowing any shit about him". Fuck Landis but this treatment should be saved for people who actually do these things.

The article dropped.

This is a very, very strange article. It's long enough that it's clearly intended to be a major piece, which is odd in itself because Max Landis really doesn't seem to merit this sort of attention -- he isn't Weinstein or even Bryan Singer. More strangely, the front half of the article is packed with really vague allegations -- there's a repeated pattern of ex-girlfriends who "just can't talk about" what he did with any specificity, and a number of "reassessments" of their relationship with him after speaking to other exes.

And yet the second half has allegations of full-on rape of women who were in his orbit but whom he wasn't dating. One of them dropped the charges after allegedly being intimidated by his lawyer. There are also repeated allegations of him strangling women, which might or might not be consensual (certainly not consensual in the cases of the women he wasn't dating, but for the ones he was it isn't quite as clear).

I have no idea how credible any of this is -- a lot of the stuff from the girlfriends comes across as really sketchy and hit-jobbish -- but I have to wonder who has it in for Max Landis. This is a lot of effort to take down a guy who's pretty much a B-lister.

The effort they went through is because Max sucks. Even if you don't believe he's a rapist, the guy they describe in the article is an enormous tool. He admitted to a lot of the behaviour in this article himself years ago, so no one here can say the women are lying about that part. All he does is shit on and break down the self-esteem of the women he dates. He comments on their bodies, he constantly says how they need to lose weight, and he cheats on them. The part about having a huge spreadsheet of every girl he's slept with and then ranking them is the behaviour of a complete douchebag.

We know that at the very least, the part about him being an unrelenting prick is true. Whether or not he's also a rapist in your eyes is something you can choose to believe or not. I believe it, but this part (“I didn’t realize that I had been raped consistently and deliberately by this man for two years until today, when I wrote it down.” ) is definitely going to raise a lot of eyebrows around these parts. But one thing is undeniable, it's easy to understand why anyone would go through all this trouble, it's because he's an enormous tool that has been a dick to everyone he's ever met.

...and that makes him different from dozens if not hundreds of Hollywood shitheads how, exactly?

If he was also a rapist, you could respond the same too. He isn't all that different than countless other Hollywood shitheads, rapist or not. He's just notable because he had a big twitter and youtube presence a few years ago.

A few years ago, sure. But what is his profile now? Do people care that much about Dirk Gently?

I don't mean to come across as challenging you specifically; I'm just not sure why people care about this, especially given how questionable some of the allegations are. I'll shed no tears to see this absolute nepot thrown off the gravy train. I just find the outrage curious.

I only care as much as wanting to see him get vetted out of any productions going forward. His scripts aren't funny, he's not a good director and he needs to go dirk gently into the night.

He sold 2 big scripts this year. One film starring Idris Elba, the other starring Chloe Grace Moretz.

So yeah, his behavior is no different than any sex groomer out there. No network? No friends in the immediate area? Position of weakness compared to him?

Check, check, check?

You may also want to notice 'Julie' couldn't look past the superficial lavishings. She got too star struck with how casual he was about money to notice all the bad shit lurking in the back. These are only victims in the sense that he is a shitheel abuser. But they signed the fine line and so I feel less sympathy for them and more pity.

That's the weird part to me, especially concerning the first lady. You have paragraph after paragraph about how he called her fat, and then one sentence about being raped presented almost as an afterthought (or afterthot heh). Like most #metoo allegations, there's a skewed proportionality to the accusations, placing petty greivances on the same level as actual crimes.

I'm glad we finally got solid accusations after years of literal nonsense, but I'm going to say something controversial: I understand why the original Hollywood Reporter story was dropped because this simply isn't a #metoo story. My understanding of #metoo is that its about people who abuse their positions in Hollywood/Broadway to take advantage of young men and women. With maybe one exception, these allegations have nothing to do with Landis's position as a writer/producer and are mostly just about him being an abusive and manipulative boyfriend. After hearing most of these allegations, I'm left wondering: "so what?"

Is Landis supposed to be blacklisted from Hollywood because he's a dick to his girlfriend? Has anything I learned from this article changed my already very low opinion of Landis? Are the allegations strong enough that it justifies publicly exposing and shaming a man for his sexual predelictions?

I dunno.
