So this is either a: weens, b: Chris making shit up in an idiotic attempt to incriminate GameStop, c: legit messages, but Chris still doesn't understand how restraining orders work.

The first two (especially the second) sound more likely to me. It just seems fishy that he conveniently already had the names of these GameStop outlets on his phone.

chris is claiming that gamestop is violating the court order by contacting him

Except if Chris has ANY pre-orders from the store, they would call him to let him know. Sorry Chris, but you lost this one too.

EDIT: The same goes for reservations if the store was out or online sales if Chris decided to order online and pick it up in-store.

Example: "Hey, this is a message for Chris Chandler! Chris, you're GOTY edition of Sonic Boom for the Wii U has arrived, you can pick it up at the (enter street name) Gamestop at your convenience! Thanks!"

^this. I was about to post the same thing.
At least back when I used to go to Gamestop they would call you to let you know you can come pick up your reserve.
If Chris was on the reserve list I seriously doubt GameStop would have noticed the correlation and not called him.

Wait a minute. What the hell is "Flakes Gamestop" anyway? The actual pepper spraying happened at the Fashion Square store, and "F Square Gamestop" is among the contacts at the bottom of the image. I assume Flakes Gamestop, as well as the other two he lists, are the three locations where he sent the apology letters.

So yeah, either weens spoofing the number and picking the wrong one, or a potentially funny complication that he chose to ignore.

Does it make me a bad meanie if part of me hopes that Chris now thinks his ban/no contact order is now null and void because he believes game stop violated it, so now he is free to go back there? Because the outcome can only be hilarious.

The message were probably sent to him to let him know that he was probably banned from all gamestops, from what people have said most likely his phone was off so the messages arrived the day it was turned off (30th). Even if he could use them as evidence, he deleted them thus rending it useless since there is no way to verify that he wasn't the one who called first and had them call back.

I had a similar thought when I first saw this. How hard is it to spoof a location and number on a caller ID?.

Long time lurker here..first post. This touches on my area of expertise as I work with VOIP systems. It is incredibly easy to spoof caller ID with a bit of know how on VOIP. I could easily do this myself if I put on my blackhat.

Easiest way to do this would be to make an account with a SIP trunk provider that doesn't prevent caller ID spoofing (more and more are preventing this nowadays, but still easy to find one that will let you spoof), then setup a PBX of some variety such as PBX in a flash to connect to it. At this point, you can set the caller ID on outgoing calls in your PBX to whatever you want - name, number, and location.

You are giving Chris too much credit, he can't even understand why he can't upload a power point to you tube, I doubt he knows how to do that. The most valid is what people have said, his phone was off and then turned on the 30th which is when he got the message.

Of course Chris couldn't have done this, but it is possible (though very unlikely) that some ween did it.

Now, I wouldn't necessarily wish trouble on Chris. But c'mon, trouble is inevitable with Chris. And what am I going to do, NOT laugh at him when it happens? Pfft, yeah right.

This is exactly what I was thinking. I'm pretty sure assaulting one of their employees is enough to get you permabanned from the entire chain and 4 days after the incident seems like it would be long enough for GameStop to get their ducks in a row in order to make that official. I'm sure Chris is going to receive/has received an official looking letter from GameStop headquarters detailing his ban, but it's pretty likely that the calls are just local GameStops that know him warning him to stay out.

A friend of mine working for Gamestop informed me that odds are good that one of those calls may have been a plea-bargain offer - I.E. an offer of "Acquiesce to these charges of Vandalism and reckless endangerment, and we'll drop the assault and theft charges."

Make of this what you will.

They'd have to also call Chris's PD, of course, right?

Why would the Gamestop be reaching out and not the local prosecutor? Its a criminal case not a civil case.
