I agree overall, you make a lot of good points. I still think there’s a possibility that Rial and Toye are stupid and or desperate enough for that to be their goal. That, and if GFM did cave to the mob, especially if under pressure from MasterCard or another payment processor, it wouldn’t be the first time a company gave in after initially seeming supportive.
Oh I'm sure that's MoRon's goal. They're obviously trying to get the GFM campaign shut down and have the raised funds magically yanked back from the trust (or whatever it is) that's holding the money for the lawyers. I'm sure in a perfect world they'd love to see the money also not get refunded to the original donors too, just as a big "fuck you" to the donors, because that's the kind of shitty people they (MoRon) are.
They're working straight down the list in the SJW social media playbook. Attack the target. Deplatform him. Attack his job. Attack his friends and family. Attack his other income sources (if any). Attack his reputation to ruin his career. In this case, they've found the "annotated litigation edition," which adds some more related steps. "Scare off opposing counsel" hasn't worked, so now they're trying to "deplatform" Vic from the legal system by attacking his war chest in the naive hope that temporarily financially inconveniencing him will magically make the suit go away or the current attorneys stop pursuing it (pro tip: it won't).
Like sovereign citizens, they firmly believe the right "legal incantations" will just magically make it all go away without ever having to actually answer for their actions. Absolutely
everything they've been doing has been in support of that goal. It's all about making the enemy go away either directly or by pressuring his support to undermine him.
Fortunately there's really not much pressure that can be applied here. Payment processors aren't going to step in over this sort of thing -- this isn't like the Daily Stormer collecting donations and there's absolutely zero outside interest or outrage -- and KickVic doesn't have the kind of clout required to pressure e.g. Mastercard to care enough to screw with active litigation like that. This is literally a slapfight between voice actors, SJWs and anime fans over a #metoo. It'll never rise to the level of a payment processor saying "stop."
I also get the impression that there's been some legal arrangement to protect the money itself so that GFM
can't just "claw it back" and the lawyers can't just dip into the well without an itemized explanation. There may even be a legal agreement between BHBH and GFM concerning the campaign that establishes legal recourse for BHBH/Vic if GFM really does ever shut it down.
The very worst that could possibly happen if GFM really does fold is that they eat bad publicity for it, piss off two very competent and aggressive attorneys, and give the 'tards a brief bit of gloating until they notice the money's still there for the lawyers to use and a new campaign's been set up elsewhere that's still getting loads of traction thanks to all the extra attention.
The money that's already been collected for Vic? That ain't going anywhere. That war chest is secure and there's not a god damn thing KickVic can do to touch it.
