In that hypothetical circumstance, I'd imagine companies would be aware of how toxic he'd be to them if he was allowed to reach those positions.

Certainly keep him in the industry to do his VA work, but Funimation have seemingly done the equivalent of guiding his hand towards their balls to be vice-gripped.
Well Sabat is a higher-up inFuni. If the DB dubbing rights go to any other place, I'd doubt he'd be able to hold out his power like befor
E) Getting caught with possession of a shitload of Cocaine
F)It coming out you did AVs a few years ago
G)Joining an actual cult
Goddamn, I forgot about those :story:

I never got the TFS/Sabat connection. In fact, I’ve never understood the Sabat as top dog kingpin speculation.

Because Funimation is hideously cheap and won't spend the $1.50 they would have to converting a random Dallas Crack House into a recording studio and instead are held hostage by the human meatball.

It doesn't need to be a large amount of cocaine, even getting caught with a small personal stash is enough to be a persona non grata for possibly the rest of your career. They're insanely strict about recreational drugs in Japan, both in law and in public reaction.
People get fucking Stalin'd out of shit if they get caught with drugs in Japan. A recent example if anyone's curious.

That mentality kills me. I heard a clip from the quartering saying something similiar. Those on kickvick tout how Ty got nothing ABSOLUTELY nothing, from ron. Those on Vic's side or sympathy towards it, think Ty should have nailed Ron down to yes or no. People believe that Ron's "I don't know" x4800 is somehow a breaker for either side.

It really comes down to 2 things.
1) Can Ron now testify how he felt when he typed those tweets.(malice)

Nope he can't recall.

2) The jury that will be looking for rope watching this deposition, will have to determine if Ron is a snake.

They will have compared Vics actual answers and reasonable response to I do not recall :) . The rope will have a new use.

A touch off-topic, but what are the chances Toye was coached to say he didn't remember his tweets to avoid cross-examination with Rial's testimony?

I don't think it will matter. I believe that before Monica's deposition Ty asked for a hearing where Casey ended up authenticating all of Ron's tweets. If they did that before Monica's deposition, it wouldn't matter that he didn't remember anything about them since Casey authenticated all of them.

It's clear the strategy was likely to absolve Ron from answering any follow-up questions about his tweets so that they didn't butt heads with Monica's first-hand accounts.

The problem is that now they face a jury that likely have at least SOME knowledge of how twitter works saying 'You're telling me he doesn't remember 5 months worth of his own opinions, or even his own username?' Going up against Vic's very open and charismatic responses.

Anyone looking at them side by side would come to the same conclusion regarding who has something to hide.

One of the common "arguments" against Vic as to why nobody ever filed a police report is that he's way too powerful in the industry.

Ironically that actually applies way more to Sabat. He has his own recording studio. He can control voice actor casting. He's a big part of the anime VA industry in the States. He can exert power and pressure on people and can give a few tasty carrots of parts as bribes. People on the Farms believe for example the people who left KamehaCon were offered bigger parts in other series. Unconfirmed, but possible is what they're saying.

I dunno fam, I'd say "Defendant was blatantly coached to forget everything when an objection to form was made, refused to answer anything or authenticate anything, wasted as much time as possible, and on the rare few ocassions he answered perjured himself, admitted to malice then immediately tried to backpedal, and utterly sabatoged all of his affirmative defenses especially after claiming he based his position on Vic's guilt citing articles he was a fucking source on" is amazing for Vic's case.

Is just going "I don't recall" the strategy? I remember Nick saying the way Ron answered questions was dumb and got laughs out of him.

Also, When's Monica's deposition? And the ones for the rest of the party?

It's a very bad strategy as it can be spun to the jury about how untrustworthy Soye is.

I mean, it's also really the only strategy they had to hand whatsoever that just misses how much of a salty prick Toye clearly is by being caught out with this bullshit. A staggering 400 pieces of evidence before him, his own words, and somehow he has a bout of amnesia. If anything it could be an argument about how dangerous the "popcorn brain" mentality is and how major an effect social media can have, 400 such statements being "under attack" and constantly replying for a dopamine hit and now it's costing him an awful, awful lot of money.

You got to see the "real" Toye when he was jabbing the table with his one finger, his teeth bared on display as he nodded massively while ranting about his "Personal Fiance" while staring at Ty with fury and hatred. He comes across as aggressive, angry, very rude. He leans forward, narrows his (already squinty) eyes and jabs a lot to try and make his point. Ty continued to hammer home the questions.

Really makes you wonder if he's as angry and vindictive towards other people around him when they piss him off too...

Lemoine tried to do the exact same to Vic for hours. The most aggressive Vic got was an open palmed, hand down gesture towards him which Lemoine immediately acquiesced to and basically handed control of the deposition to Vic in the process.

The maddest Vic got was the whole 'Bigger or smaller than this room?' interaction.

I damn near rolled over with his third "They VARY ."

The only VA drama here in Japan is if they either:
A) get caught on a date
B) get married
C) get caught cheating on another relationship

Tomokazu Seki and Tomokazu Sugita are rumored to be sex pests and assholes, and Hiroko Konishi shared her #MeToo story earlier this year, but that's about it. Which made this case so goddamn appealing to me because usually the Japanese VA agencies keep everything under lock and key so we're never introduced to these levels of exceptionalism :story:
There’s also the stuff about Sabat having to rename his studio tour before canceling it altogether. I’m not sold on the Japan stuff because there’s been so many rumors about Toei and their involvement and there’s nobody to verify those rumors or an insider to how things are playing out in Japan, even if it’s stuck behind a language barrier. If Toei was the stickler for image/PR that people claim them to be, wouldn’t have they told Schemmel to knock off his Goku tantrums years ago?

Off topic, but I’ve also heard that Toei despises DBZ Abridged.
Which makes their political edits to lesser dubs that much cuntier. Funi wouldn't dare to co-opt or re-write One Piece for propaganda cause they'd for sure lose that sweet cash. Yet when it comes to the smaller shows they feel completely safe in butchering the original Japanese creator's work against his knowledge. Unfortunately for us, even if Soyny cleans house, the commiefornia-based company will just replace the likes of Rial with millennial hipsters who may be Even Worse....

While true, remember that japan controls the anime industry. The can literally kick sony to the curb and what will sony do? sue them? Japan will absolutely buttrape sony if it dares enter its territory (japan looks down on japan-born corps that then headquarter in other countries. They absolutely do not appreciate that at all). So all sony could do is keep anime out of america right? wrong. internet. they can dub inhouse (ie reach out to va's cutting sony out, fly them in, and do their lines) or just straight sub everything and be done with it.

As a result Sony can't just wave its dick around and get results. Anime can and will bite that dick and tell Sony to put it back in its pants or its going home.

I heard the first two only applied to idols... it applies to celebrities in general in japan? interesting. that makes Soyny/Funi's situation/relationship with Toei even worse.

Toei also is a japanese corp. They know to pick and choose their battles. I guarantee they've got a case file on why funi needs to fire certain people and are simply waiting for the right moment.... the moment when one of the english VA's fucks up bad enough.... and gee, I wonder what's happening right now.

They are so invested in the matter and fear the defeat for SJWism so much that they will gladly discard any principles of the rule of law to continue living in their ideological Best Korea. You see the same with their lolyers. People who think that lawyers are out there to serve justice should reconsider. Ideology will always be more important than professionality or constitutional principles for SJWs. Vic is white, cis, hetero, Christian, probably didn't vote for Hillary, has hair and professional success plus success with the ladies. He embodies everything they hate and everything they don't get because they're whiny, insufferable subhumans.

Anybody with eyes or ears knows what a pathetic weasel Soye is. I wonder how brilliant a strategy is where you first feign Alzheimers and mad cow's disease, only to end up confirming you made those defaming tweets.

Toei are likely waiting for the result of this case. They don't care about the next batch of lawsuits or what happens to Vic, they care about the practices of the company they've given their IPs to.

If they find out in no uncertain terms this company wilfully allowed their VAs to cause a controversy surrounding

A) Their most lucrative franchise
B) Their most successful American cinema release (to the DAY)

That's probably grounds to sever any existing contract(s) with them, I would assume.

What should have been a time of celebration was irrevocably marred by the accusations thrown at the VA of the titular character. The possibility that all this was based off of some sort of personal grudge between Western VAs is pretty damning for Funi.

No wonder they've elected to throw Ronica under the bus. Will they do the same for Sabat, though?

I'm calling it at this point: These people have full-blown Rekieta Derangement Syndrome. No matter what Nick says or does the opposite must be true.

If Nick thinks Ron came across as a slimy, defensive, flippant, poorly prepared, unlikable cunt who stuck to one of the most transparent gameplans in history (likely written out in crayon on Denny's napkin) to a fault. Well that must mean Ron knocked it out of the park!

But god forbid Vic with his icky penis wants to have consensual sex with a woman and admits that he has not lived up to his Christian values with his philandering ways. I have news for these clowns, there is nothing that makes a conservative Christian jury more sympathetic to someone than that person saying they aren't perfect and have not lived up to their Christian values. There is no stopping this Vic freight train if it ever gets to a jury which is why they are going all out right now to stop that from happening.

I'm sure this has already been brought up before, but what exactly is the deal with this supposed assault on Monica by Vic? I was watching part 2 of ...Soye's "deposition", and he essentially said the story was that Vic invited her to his room (or a room, so I presume this was at a hotel or apartment of some sort), threw her (somehow) to the bed, but then some guy named Stan "saved" her. Like...wtf. Not only in this the first time I heard of even this allegation in some detail, but

1) Who the hek is Stan?
2) Why hasn't Stan come forward to confirm (or maybe even deny) anything?
3) Why would Monica not have pressed charges against Vic then and there considering the way her fiance described the story, it sounds almost like attempted rape especially when he specifically added the word "saved"?
