This is why Josh went on about "being a business." You have to craft a performer persona to stay sane. The Persona can range from just an amped up extension of your personality (Keemstar, Pewdiepie), to absolutely fake cardboard plastic one like the Paul family. I was just thinking about how miserable I'd be if I was one of the Pauls, even with the money and the fame. It takes a special kind of person to pull off what they are doing. If I had to be a Paul for a year you'd find me swinging in that Japanese forest.

The biggest disadvantage that e-celebs have is not having industrial grade tard wranglers that regular celebs have (save for the real big names). Also the barrier between the public is much greater for normal celebs than e-celebs. Sometimes you get a celebrity getting unhinged on twitter (or post creepy agenda art if you're Jim Carey), but for the most part they keep it bland and brand friendly. While I highly criticize Mumkey for shitting on his fans, I get where he is coming from since it sounds like the Patreon discord was a massive hassle, and a lot of his problems were caused by having such a tight-knit fan community. At the very least he could have phrased it much more amicably.
