No that’s not what happened. @Henk Hill explained it all. Too many people donating too frequently flagged things as spam. It’s an honest mistake. Sucks we’re losing our memes but we all got too exceptional about it (myself included) and GFM could not handle autism of this magnitude.

I didn't even know GFM could refund donations based on dubious anonymous naming. I thought GFM couldn't refund money since they never actually procure the funds.
Does this mean that GFM took money out of their own pocket because some salty VAs and their cucks got butthurt ?

Edit:
I guess it would make sense for GFM to have a search for multiple small donations from one source with different names. Can't let people try to fund their way to trending or to use GFM as a way to funnel dirty money. Why must good things always come to a close? *sigh*

I've made more than one donation and mine haven't been refunded either. No names, just anonymously.

Just checked the GFM and it's down to $226505. Some people are putting their donations back in though.

I remember seeing some picture talking about how after 4Chan and Anonymous got big, Facebook started accepting nonstudents, Twitter and Tumblr were created, and The Big Bang Theory (which ended its run this year after 12 seasons) was created, the internet proceeded to go to shit.

As for YouTube, it went to shit after it was being bought by Google...or at least that’s the narrative.

Even if their is plausible reasoning for the donations to be refunded, I still think people will be only more motivated to donate multiple times with an array of hilarious names. People really don't like being told they can't do something and the idea that GFM is trying to halt donations due to complaints from KickVic is a powerful catalyst to the exceptional people on the ISWV side

It's not that, it's because people donating so many times in quick succession with different names but the same payment info it's triggering anti-fraud systems because everyone wants to meme and have Nick read their best BAZINGA on stream. The contest was a neat idea but people can't contain their 'tism and now it's starting to ruin the fun.

Youtube was acquired by Google in 2006. There were still a few good years of Youtube after that.
You're absolutely right, though - Google has been fucking the site into the dirt, but it's been a fairly slow process. Except for the last 2- 3 years - I wonder what may have happened to speed things up? 🤔 🤔 🤔
