I just don't get why they thought really tanky tanks would be fun in a FPS. How did this go through a development cycle

Overwatch was a Destiny. Tracer was a hero npc and you ran around shooting robots. You know, the actual fucking lore of the game. OW as a game is make-believe of "imagine if Superman fought Batman".They might Destiny 2 the idea. The incentive is very low but the idea is to dangle features in your face and convince you that they couldn't just be implemented in the first game and force an excuse to push out a sequel.
It has the worst of two worlds: You need to win and as such yell at the teammates you'll likely never meet again, but also you gain nothing from winning but a gold gun which you basically end up having 50 of if you commit to the game. It's like Fortnite; there's no incentive to play but the fun, except the fun isn't there.Come to think of it it has the MOBA issue when it comes to how players treat each other or should treat each other
I never got the whole "find your own fun" arguement for games like this that are online only and competitive based as they're the antithesis of fun. Your "fun" hinges on other people and the incentive is to win to get more stuff. Personally I never played the game for skins or cosmetics I liked how the game played until they made changes and the incentive became different. To Overwatch's credit its model isn't nearly as scummy as Fortnite where it seems every little minute thing is locked behind a currency that trickles in at an extremely slow rate and the incentive is a very blunt "just buy it"It has the worst of two worlds: You need to win and as such yell at the teammates you'll likely never meet again, but also you gain nothing from winning but a gold gun which you basically end up having 50 of if you commit to the game. For those who won't want to read the article, OW2 is compared by (alleged) Blizzard employees as "Similar to Left 4 Dead".
Why can't they do that in the existing OW engine and why on earth would they need to release a entirely new game? Does Overwatch feel "complete" to anyone over at Blizzard - because this idea sounds like an expansion pack at absolute best.

Seems to be a scapegoat to negate the fact they hyped the game up for having rich and expansive lore and in the past 3 to 4 years we've gotten very little about the world the games is supposed to be set in and what lore does exist is very hollow and token. It seems less of a move to expand Overwatch and more of a move to get more money out of the fans by telling them they're interested in doing other things with this dull premise. Most of the "Archive" missions so far have also been 'Left 4 Dead styled', so this isn't even a hot development, if it's someone lying they literally just saw that the game already has some kind of L4D type of gameplay, so people can deduce that maybe it's accurate. Coupled with the fact that they've been openly saying they're interested in a series of spin-offs for the "Overwatch universe", and there you go.
Yes all this is nice but what really matters is the next character they make gay or a tranny.
More of a rumor if anything but it shouldn't be surprising. They've talked about wanting to make a spin off PvE based game before. Personally for me once I realized the devs had no fucking clue on how to balance anything that was the turning point for me. Besides the hamster and the newest healer guy, every character that's been released has been stupidly busted and essentially made the meta even worse. It's why I stopped playing comp and why overall I only stuck to arcade which I don't even play anymore. The only thing keeping me interested in the PvE game modes and that's because even if you have idiots for team mates you can still generally beat the game modes pretty easily.so why did the game "fail" and when did the game stop being fun for you? they already talking about making a overwatch two which i think is pretty crazy.

Very few games in competitive mode are evenly matched. If you're lucky, 1 in 10 competitive games are played between teams of even or comparable skill. There are a couple of reasons for this. CR is very unreliable for players under level 100 (level is a function of time played). People intentionally derank themselves or rank up on alt accounts for Twitch and Youtube videos, so a lot of pros end up playing in ranks far below their skill level. CR doesn't account for the roles and characters people are comfortable playing. You'll end up having people filling roles they're not very good at just to build a good team composition, or a team will be hard countered because the DPS only want to play snipers against two shield tanks (for example).
That's not mentioning the hell that is other players, but player attitudes and the comp mentality isn't something blizz can really fix except by making the game better so I'm not gonna shit on players just to shit on them.
Enforcing a meta sounds good on paper but stagnates the game even worse in the long run. Just a quick Google search tells me that high level competitive matches aren't always 2/2/2 but 3 tanks 3 support.it happened. 2/2/2 is now enforced in queue. good job blizzard!

overwatch died when moira was released ngl. give it some time and we'll have a game like gta online

It's also why moba style games shouldn't have a ranked solo queue.
