I dunno, suddenly introducing a mid-season hero feels like really lazy writing to me. Just coming in and destroying such a key attack? Far far too cliche and like the writers put themselves into a corner and just had to hail mary it.

I do agree though, Lemoiney Snickets and his Series of Unfortunate Filings is a masterstroke of a sub story.

I think my favourite hero remains Beard though. Successful family man with equally talented daughters? Ticks a lot of boxes.

Given the way she ended her initial email, I think that between the two of them, they were Christian enough that they weren't having sex, so I'm wary of suggesting that none of this would have happened if she put out.

The fact that's she's cooperating with people who very clearly want this man to do a flip and are making claims that are demonstrably false with even cursory scrutiny (or otherwise imply them to be degenerates that aided and abetted a predator for decades) by providing details that are completely irrelevant to everyone that isn't her and him honestly leads me to not give a damn about what she feels. She can stay mad, honestly, if this is the crap she's willing to pull when this guy's dealing with people calling him a pedorapist for no good reason.

It's like high school never ended for these people...

I was going to go off on how none of this even matters, but you raise a damn good point. How the hell are pics of Vic's dic(k) not going to circulate around the industry? Why haven't they circulated at this point? Why hasn't any of this alleged media come out at this point, from people trying to capitalize on the controversy? We see what people say when they're trying to capitalize, so far: "IT HAPPENED TO ME", "I was a con worker and I saw him being a big meanie head!", "he didn't sign my gay incest shota fanart", etc.

Never, "this man sent me pictures of his penis and talked about how he wanted to love them up and down and all around". Then again, everyone seems to struggle to make lies that count: Rial's depo has her saying she went along with Vic's advance in an incident that itself never happened, and every named person who's said that Vic made strong passes at them say that he backed off when they put their foot down.

Partly why the Projared thing (and by extension the recent firings at the Yogscast) versus this has such a fucking gulf between them. In the case of these (so far, three) incidents there was proof, a message trail, images etc etc. Enough that Projared got wrecked entirely within 24 hours, and so far two people have been fired/dismissed from the Yogscast (Caffcast fired, Turps stepping down as CEO while the investigation continues) because all the stuff, provable and obvious came out almost instantly.

You can see the latest fucking hilarity with Lemoiney's TCPA filing. He's supposedly a TCPA expert but apparently it means "hurl shit at a wall and hope the size of the binder impresses the judge into dismissing your case".

I suspect when Ty said that the most difficult legal fight for BHBH would be if their clients acted irrationally was taken to heart by MoRon as a way of defeating the case, rather than the constant annoyance and putting before the judge constantly pain in the arse it actually is.

Yeah, actually. You only have to look at ProJared's case to realize how quickly these pop up, if there are any.

What bothers me about all this is how desperate some people are for that #MeToo clout, so desperate in fact, that they're willing to blow out of proportion most innocuous things to appear as "survivors", making it seem as nothing less than rape. It blows my mind!
That and the whole thing with retroactive retraction of consent.

Considering "retroactive retraction of consent" is one of the core issues pushed by intersectional groups, what amazes me is that people are so resistant to the idea that you have said groups back in the wings helping cases like this along. Just because Vic isn't Kavanaugh does not mean he's too small a fish for them to hook into.

Remember... While there are absolutely plenty of attention seekers and tumblr fan fic'ers to go around, the intersectional groups have an agenda and actively pursue opportunities like this case to forward their ideology/agenda.

I noticed the TCPA filing, I think in the libel proof nonsense, they mention that the Vic rumors date back online to 2010. I like that they have strengthened my theory that the nexus of the (primary) Vic rumors was in 2009 when Vic said he didn't like yaoi and would politely tell anyone who asked him to sign it 'sorry, sweetie, I'm not comfortable signing that, but I'll sign anything else you like'. Amusing the lawyers failed at their own research, though. Otherwise they surely would have included the cosfu/4chan rumors that go back as far as 09.

Pretty embarrassing doing worse research for your libel proof argument on TCPA than a random person on the internet doing Google searches.
