I like what some States in the US do with sex offenders - they put up signs informing residents that a sex offender lives there / nearby.

Maybe jonny could sponsor one for the street. /sneed

According to the CBC news report running criminal record checks in some circumstances may be considered discriminatory….but in other circumstances “it might make sense” The report uses an example where a single mom is wants to rent out a room in her house and making sure all the applicants interested require a criminal check could be reasonable because of concerns for her and her family’s safety.
And the Human Rights Commission states that: 4.2.9 Criminal or other police record checks, Nothing in section 21(3) of the Code or Regulation 290/98 permits the use of criminal or other police record check in the context of rental housing.
Of course, landlords must get permission before running a criminal check
and if you have any questions contact the OHRC to make sure you are doing the right thing

Can a Landlord request to check a tenant’s criminal record?

No, a Landlord cannot as a condition of renting or providing any service to a Tenant, ask for consent to collect personal information beyond what is necessary to provide tenancy or that service. Requiring a criminal records check is not reasonably necessary.
Landlords cannot by law check or ask for a lot of things but at the same time, who's going to stop them? I'm sure this user's family member looks up all sorts of things they're not legally allowed to ask for and then turns around and says no the the propsective tenant without saying why or just saying they rented to someone else or whatever. Landlords aren't exactly the most scrupulous group of people in most places. I'm sure this family member does these things and this user thinks it's perfectly ok simply because they know a family member that does it. It happens, but it's not supposed to and those that do checks like these are fuckheads who should stop if I'm being honest.

TL; DR user is related to one of those landlords that think they're above the law.

Landlords should have a right to know who is wanting to rent from them, and should be allowed to discriminate for any reason.

But all this is off topic so fuck off.

Will Jonny boy get evicted for this? Doesn't make the property look good for having police over constantly.

Landlords have some rights to know some things, it's balanced with renters rights to privacy etc. But yes, off topic.

He or his mother own the condo, they don't rent it. So he can't be evicted per se. He is under a strata, which I don't entirely understand. Maybe @WGkitty can explain better but I do believe they can in some cases force someone to sell much like a homeowner's association.

With every small apartment rental I've ever had, there's been this thing where I knew I was gonna have an extremely good chance at getting the apartment. Single--check. Female--check. Not a minority that'd piss them off--check. Don't have a stereo system--check. And so on. And I know this, because usually they'd confide in me later that I got picked for these reasons they couldn't say. And so does every small (6 and under rental landlord I know.

So here's where I'm gonna piss off the progressives, but in in-law situations,, triplexes, I'm not sure that's wrong. Everyone in that category would prefer a single quiet person who's going to come up with rent as opposed to bringing bfs, extended family, extending the garbage/utility bills that small on-site LLs pay for. Plus being comfortable seeing this person daily basically in their back yard. In these situations, it's basically one door away from being a roommate. Do I think it's theoretically wrong that someone would deny Yaniv strictly based on his appearance and troon declaration, yes. But I wouldn't blame any small landlord from noping out on living with him.

It's extremely rare and a huge legal battle to force someone to sell a strata property they own, but it has been done.
In most cases there needs to be some serious issues happening, threats, destruction of property, assault, etc.

You can call my relative an 'unscrupulous fuckhead' for not wanting to rent to convicted sex offenders, burglars or murderers, but then you'd be an idiot. My relative doesn't do anything illegal by looking at past convictions. Landlords aren't running charities and they have every moral and legal right to tell someone with a violent conviction to fuck right off.

Back on topic:
Yaniv is living with his mother in a senior's condo, isn't he? So is it her name on the lease? What happens when she croaks or moves to an old age home?

You need to read the thread more.
Yaniv owns their own condo and it's one building over from Mama Yaniv.

Moral or immoral, it is in fact, against the law to do criminal background checks for apartments so please stfu. Yaniv isn't a renter btw. They own.

Not a chance in giving Onision a view. God that guy is predictable.

oh I do NOT blame you....and I agree. I remembered seeing the fake ass letter to him posted here earlier and when this popped into my recommended I was not at all surprised that he made this video so quickly. I'd love to hear what his troon of a wife has to say though.

Jesus Christ. I made it like 2 minutes in. Onision is just hell bent on ruining his career entirely isn't he? Even when he makes this obvious fucking bait video. It's just physically impossible for him to have a good take on literally any subject. Sorry, this belongs in the Onision thread.

So I saw on Twitter someone had reposted my message last night and there was bit of an argument as to what it meant re: Federal RCMP. Maybe I'm just not sure how they are structured or maybe the cop talking to Yaniv was bullshitting him to get him off the property BUT to explain what I heard: Langley RCMP have been ordered to stand watch by some higher authority, this whole process is out of Langley RCMP's hands. They have received their orders to stand watch over the front door until some sort of specialist unit or a some sort of higher level of RCMP can come perform the search. Sorry if the lingo I used wasn't right in describing the situation!

so you decided to give him the view then? haha this video sucks and is hardly even narrated by him (which actually makes it suck a little less)

I meant my comment belongs there since I didn't even mention Yaniv and just went off on onion boy. This video belongs here since it's about Jonny. But it could go in the Onision thread too. Maybe it should go into the "defenders" thread also though since I guess Onision had decided that's the way to go here. So many places for this video!

Haha nope! I watched the archive.
