Play Zelda and Bayonetta, when you're finished with those go outside and stay outside until they release a new Zelda or Bayonetta. It's the Nintendo way.

If you like JRPGs get Xenoblade 2.

I'm just finishing it up, completed all the quests, collected all the blades, bought all the shop deeds including the 12 Nopon one, killed all the elite bosses including the level 130 tyrannotitan and the level 99 boss that you feed items to throughout the game. It's a very good game and only has some hang ups like the stupid gatcha mechanics that are in there for some reason and the Mercenary missions which are WAIT 2 HOURS FOR YOUR TEAM TO RETURN type passive bullshit which will hinder you if you come across field skill locks that need certain abilities or elements.

In comparison I also went full competionist with breath of the Wild with doing all the shrines, collecting all the armor, collecting all the horse armor, completing the picture album, killing every one of the 3 types of world bosses, getting the master sword and hyrule shield, building up the town and buying everything for the house, and collecting all 900 Korok seeds.

And I felt that breath of the Wild was the worst zelda game, everything in there was just so lacking compared to the others, the 900 korok seeds especially. Xenoblade 2 is the better open world game out of the two by miles.

Check out the Nintendo store if you want some cheap old school RPGs. I picked up Disgaea 1, Final Fantasy IX and YS VIII when they were on sale. There's also Tales of Vesperia HD. And I second Xenoblade Chronicles 2 and Fire Emblem three houses.

I don't know what games you like but I'll give my recommendations.

Fire Emblem Three Houses,
Dragon Quest XI or Builders 2 (if you like minecraft) ,
Hollow Knight,
Deltarune (It's Free! I do recommend you play Undertale first though, if your to cheap or lazy you can watch a musical on youtube that covers the whole story)
Mario Kart 8 Deluxe,
I highly recommend Fire Emblem Warriors if you really do enjoy Dynasty Warriors type games.
Stardew Valley (Great with Friends!)
VA-11 HALL-A ( an great indie with an amazing soundtrack to boot!)
Terraria (like minecraft but 2D and more adventure based)
Marval Ultimate Alliance 3. (Great for Kids)
Touhou Azure Reflections. (If you like bullet dodgers with cute girls)

just remember even if you have some of these games on other systems you are paying for the convenience of playing them on the go.

Future Titles to consider.

Astral Chain, Animal Crossing New Horizons, daemon x machina (There should be a demo for this one) , Rune Factory 4 Special,

There is so much more coming in the future, give the switch a chance. It took me a bit to get used to playing it and before long I enjoyed playing it on the couch or at my bed.

Hope this helps my friend!

Drink a bottle of Soylent, grow a shitty beard and cross the point of no return.
Pretty sure I'd drink paint thinner before I drink Soylent.

What kind of games do you like?

I enjoy weird as fuck games like Katamari Damacy, Deadly Premonition, Killer 7, and Viscera Cleanup Detail. I do have a soft spot for Suda 51 games (often much to my own detriment), so I know there is that No More Heroes 3 game to look forward to.

I like RTS games, which a special emphasis on tower defense games like X-Morph and Sanctum.

Platformers are fine but I don't care much for the collect-a-thon aspect to many of them.

RPGs and JRPGs are okay, but I'm picky. I despise characters whose background story is "I have amnesia" which eliminates like 75% of all JRPGs. I do have a soft spot for Zelda, although the little bit of Breath of the Wild I did play was... okay? I assume it gets better after you get some gear that doesn't break after a dozen swings.

Weeb games are fine so long as they don't waste my time and try to be profound. I don't want some saucer eyed fuck wearing a dozen belts and carrying a sword the size of a Buick giving me a 20-minute monologue about existentialism.

...The exception to this is of course visual novel games... and I mean games like the Zero Escape or Phoenix Wright series, not some creepy "let's try to fuck a highschooler" bullshit like Conception.

FPS's are grand, although realitsically the only FPS I'd be interested to play on a Switch is Metroid Prime 4.

Racing games are okay, faster the better. Like F-Zero GX fast.

I don't do multiplayer often, so games like Mario Kart and Mario Party are lost on me.

AI: The Somnium Files might be something to check, since it involved the same writer as the Zero Escape series. No mention of The Nonary Games coming to Switch, but it seems that AI might come out.

Yeah if you don't like platformers, BotW or weeb games I'd say return it

It's all fun and games until the analog sticks begin to drift.
They still haven't fixed that? Good grief.

As for OP: IMHO you should return it. You've owned it for two weeks and haven't touched it. Literally haven't even opened it. That's not a strong indication that you're enjoying your purchase.

I've owned every Nintendo console (including the train wreck that was the Virtual Boy) except for the Switch. I really want to like it, but games have been coming out for it at a snail's pace so far (and nothing released for it has really interested me yet) and I still remember how Nintendo burned me with the Wii U and its lackluster software lineup.

Plus they're already shipping two versions of the Switch, with rumors of a third (with a beefed up processor, GPU and battery) floating around too. Knowing my luck I'd go get one, then a week later they'd start shipping the "plus" version for $50 more and I'd be pissed.

That and until they acknowledge the joycon stick drift issue, demonstrate it's been fixed and start shipping out (free) replacements (or offering free repairs) for affected units, they're not getting another dime from me for their hardware. It's just inexcusable that they haven't even admitted it's a problem at all, much less offered to fix it.

The only reason why the "free repairs" are being offered is because of a lawsuit.
That's one of three problems I see with the Switch.
The other two being the paid online multiplayer (it's P2P connectivity, most console manufacturers make you pay for internet to make back the "L" taken on selling the hardware. Nintendo makes the switch so cheaply that they aren't losing money on it) and the vague interest in a minority of the library (and even then, there's more of it that's multiplatform than not). The third that I've seen is the low build quality, which caused the rocky hardware launch to begin with.
In summary, you know when people demanded Nintendo "get with the times"? Well, they have. Now everybody's remorseful about buying the Switch because of the Superb Owl advert and the big marketing push that goaded everyone, even Californians into buying one while they play very little on it except for Elvin Robin Hood, a "party fighter" that's synonymous with "bad hygiene", "Dragon's Lair" with a red plumber, Danny Devito's minigame collection or "Call of Duty" made for children younger than squeakers. Everyone that isn't interested in any of the Switch's exclusives (which is anyone with a soul) has either let it collect dust, soft/hard modded theirs, or in extreme cases sold their console on (seriously. Go on eBay right now and tell me how many used Switch consoles [including job lots] there are).

Caveat Emptor is the word of the thread.

The switch has many great exclusives. Pic related.

I'd probably play Yoshi's Crafted World if I had a switch tho

I can understand not liking visual novels since it's a lot of "words words words" with barely any user input, and the market has been over-satured with lot of low-effort garbage, but I find it amusing to be "creeped out" by japanese fictional teen romance powerpoints.

It's all fun and games until the analog sticks begin to drift.

I'm super salty that both my left joycons have succumbed to the drift. Thankfully my partner bought me a pro controller for my birthday which I highly recommend.

As for the OP apart from those mentioned Donkey Kong: Tropical Freeze is an awesome (and challenging) platformer and I recommend cracking open Hyrule Warriors. It's a lot of fun and a love letter to the Zelda series. A remake of the original Katamari Damacy is available and Fast RMX (is as close to F-Zero as we're gonna get these days) are both on the eShop.

If you're into anime or "owning the libs", try this volleyball imported game.

Anime, owning the libs and/or tits.

Have you unhinged your jaw, yet, OP?
I'd get a switch after I complete my Wii pile of shame.

I love Mario Odyssey and Breath of the Wild so much! Donkey Kong Tropical Freeze is great too. I’m super stoked for Luigi’s Mansion, Pokémon and more Nintendo classics. They better make a new Paper Mario.

In addition to games that others have mentioned like Super Mario Odyssey and Smash Bros., another great Switch game to get is Monster Hunter Generations Ultimate.

Awesome game that is worth every penny.

Also you get portable versions of games like DOOM, Dark Souls, Darksiders, Saints Row, Crash Bandicoot, and the upcoming Switch port of Spyro Reignited. Yeah, they don't look as good as their PC/Xbox One/PS4 counterparts, but the portability makes up for it.

I can't believe people are telling you to return it, or did I miss the post where you said it was unhackable? Because the switch is like all Nintendo consoles - excellent when hacked. Not only do you get every game (so you don't have to pay au fucking prices) (hit me up in pm if you have a switch and don't know about the hbg) but you can also play emulated games all the way up to game cube and you can also mod an ever expanding variety of switch games, whether to add shit like new items to botw or skipping the gacha shit in xc2 through save editing, or translating monster hunter xx. You can also put android on it (which is the best way to run high end emulators atm, although the switch hardware and software were built with the virtual console in mind, so the Nintendo systems emulation is top notch), and it works fantastic, and due to the way hacking works you can easily dual boot between android and switch, just by using two microsd cards and switching between them. And all you need to do it all is a pc/Android phone and a usb-c cable.

Also my favourite thing about the switch is the joycons - when they aren't broken at least. Only the joycons allow you to continue playing whilst simultaneously scratching your balls and your head.

Huh that's weird, I'm kind of in the opposite boat to you - botw is by far my favourite zelda and xc2 is my least favourite xeno game - yes, even including xcx and the saga games. I would say botw starts to fall apart once you reach the third divine beast, whereas outside of lttp and wind waker all the zelda games fall apart after the first or second dungeon.
