Weight loss support thread

I've slimmed down enough to have protruding rib and hip bones, but my stomach won't flatten out unless I fast for at least 16 hours. Even then, it's not much. It's the only place where my body ever bothers to store fat. I'm wondering if setting up a serious routine with one of these will fix it.

Edit:

I went to the doctor today and found out I’m down to 125 pounds. I can’t brag about it irl without sounding like a dick so I’m saying it here. This feels good.

No, because fat doesn't burn locally. All you'd end up doing is building muscle up underneath the fat. Granted if your body fat percentage is that low to begin with the muscle will help define the area enough to where it will probably offset that, so there's no reason not to target your core for a workout, I just want it to be clear that it's physically impossible to burn fat in localized areas with specific workouts. The only reason the stomach takes so long to 'flatten' compared to anywhere else on the body is because that's where the highest concentration of fat cells are typically stored, so they're also the last to go.

Well, I've actually GAINED weight after losing a few pounds, but I tried

I've noticed that for the most part I've shifted my diet now long enough that I don't really think about it, so I'll just keep at it
If you can find zero to no cal snacks you like (carrots, broccoli, celery, cucumbers) then you can eat that shit between meals it'll make you eat less overall. If you feel like you're forcing a diet try to find more shit to cook/eat that works for you. Don't white knuckle shit.

I have been struggling for 4 years with my weight now. I started at 166 lbs. A little before last month, I decided to change my recipes. The problem was, since I am a chef and love pasta, i didnt lose weight. It didnt help matter that I love soda.

Last month , i drank water and stopped pasta. I'm doing sushi at home , put more vegetable and eat fish and chicken while eating less. I am now 153.4 lbs now!

I'm proud!

I've had a really hard time losing weight. I have three diseases that actively make it hard for me to lose weight. I was the last child and my parents had me late so I got all the genetic garbage, unfortunately. I got dealt a shitty hand in that regard.

I lost 90 pounds and am still losing once I started Keto. I lose very slowly and I have stand stills that can be really discouraging. But threads like these really do help keep me focused. It makes me happy to see other people succeed even if I don't think I'll ever be a size that's normal or healthy.

I lost 30 lbs (yay!) and I've gone from a bmi in the obese category to being 10 lbs away from hitting a healthy bmi. Of course, the upper limit of a healthy bmi for me, imo, is still fat for me. I'm vertically challenged and small boned, so I still need to lose another 30 to be what I consider the optimal weight for me and about the middle of the bmi range for me. Not as slim as I'd like to be, but a realistic number that I could maintain.

Trouble is, I've lost my motivation. I have other health issues (won't bore you with tmi) but I'm pretty sedentary as a result. I do try to walk, but that is about it for activity. So, my bmr is 1300 calories. When I subtract the 500 calories for my 1 lb / week goal (because walking doesn't burn enough calories to fool with, I stick with just the bmr) -- that leaves me only 800 calories a day. I was really focused and kept to it for months, but it is like I've become burned out. I'm mostly maintaining at this point (I did gain a few lbs back, but steady now) but I need to get back on track.

How do you power through burnout? Any suggestions for reinvigorating my motivation? A swift kick in the ass, perhaps?

Amberlynn reid's subforum attracts countless powerlevelers all saying the same thing, that her videos scared them into sticking with their programs. Hearing her talk about why she quit doing any specific plan is terrifying. Chantal is much the same way.

Also I would say that if you are eating more than you would like, look into resistance exercise (that you can do safely for your health condition). It doesn't take much time to do, and your body will use some of the excess calories to build muscle instead of having it all go to fat storage. In the long run having more muscle will increase your BMR and allow you an easier time staying on track with intake. It may not change your weight much but it will change your shape a lot if you are consistently doing it when you are exceeding a calorie allotment.

For motivation, I took a photo of me in my wedding where I was 166 and compared it to now. That feeling helped getting motivated. Maybe it'll helped you. I suggest eating veggies full of fiber as they get you full and are not very caloric. If you want, I can share a healthy recipes depending on what you love.

Update: I'm now 150.2 lbs . I saw my pharmacist, he said that my concerta pill helped me but I was the reason i lost weight. I was scared I lost weight because of my pill.

That's a good suggestion. Although, my wedding photo is a weight that I probably will never get back to again 😭. I'll have to go through some old photos and see if I can find one that matches my goal weight.

I'm up for info on recipes. I'm a vegetarian, so any non-meat options would be great. Thanks. And congrats on the loss! Are you at your goal now?

Are you vegan or simply vegetarian? Tofu general tao could be a great option for you if you eat eggs.

My goal is at least 135 lbs. I'm now 145 lbs.

My reaction to everyone in this thread:

Thank you, Captain Obvious.

Ovo-lacto vegetarian. So, eggs and dairy are okay. I do eat tofu for protein. I'm not crazy about it -- but it is okay in a stir fry.

Congrats on being so close to goal. I'm at the half way point, so it still seems so far away.

Since I started going to the gym (okay, fine it's Orangetheory) in 2015, I've really felt like I lost my path. I've gained more muscle and my weight is for the most part stagnant. I've been trying to get more water (at least 64 oz) in my system and trying to incorporate fruits and veggies in my diet.

My main concern with my body is my stomach at the moment. I'm not going to give up, but I'm frustrated.

If you're gaining muscle it might be more helpful to pay more attention to body fat % as opposed to your actual weight.

Edit: I just realized that you've been gyming since 2015, I wrote this assuming you just started recently, my apologies. Keep at it!

That's fine!

I have been on and off with the gym (especially recently since I am recovering from bronchitis at the moment) but I won't quit that since it gives me a kick in the ass. I have also found out that I really like going at 5 in the morning.

I love everyone in this thread for the effort they've put into their health; you've all been excellent company and inspiration while I've dropped 64 elbees this year. I've finally managed to kick my remaining vice, which was soda. 40 years of drinking that shit, and now I can walk past it in the kitchen like it's not even there. I honestly thought I had a more addictive personality than this year has shown me.

ugh, the bane of my existence. Any advice on how to talk myself out of drinking that stuff?
