That seems more like a Scott Benson creation. He's got a good eye for visuals, but is an utter nutcase who's dating a cross-dressing doppleganger of himself.

That's them and Alec above; he's the thin one. Alec was the actual programmer on Night in the Woods, and without him they would never have been able to make anything beyond an animated gif. He was still a full-on indie-hipster with all the TDS-prerequisites that requires, but he had actual skill and talent as a programmer, composer, and designer.

Alec was a pretty prolific dev as well and was involved with various tools and engines, and generally tried to spread the knowledge around at industry events, forums, and his YouTube channel.

My theory is the reason why is she doesn't want to deal with people digging into her brothers past sexual history and relationships. The story Zoe is telling for attention is less 100% untrue and more Zoe taking a kinky toxic shitty relationship and trying to hype it into being locked in a rape apartment and abused (because what ex hasn't abused her?) for victim bux and social brownie points. Sister probably knew some of the things her brother did in retaliation (like locking her out of the apartment or refusing to buy a girl who pissed him off a plane ticket) and doesn't agree morally with her brothers actions but doesn't think he's a rapist or deserved to die.

We know she had/has google alerts for hits on anything revolving her name during GamerGate, and I'm sure she never shut them off. Also we know she'd occasionally visit sites that were critical of her and (laughingly) try to steer the narrative back in her favor.
