Okay this hasn't aged very well. I guess a lot of you were right and that people like Zoe don't deserve our good faith.
The thing is, most people in the thread have kept open the possibility there was actual abuse. It's just that Quinn has shown throughout her time in the public eye that she, as you point out, doesn't deserve our good faith. We already know how much she lies, grifts and manipulates, and as has also been noted her #metoo post carefully makes the biggest mountains out of molehills. She doesn't
quite call him a rapist, but it's the impression most people on both sides have gotten.
I presume that's entirely intentional. I think she wrote it with a callous disregard for how it could negatively affect Alec, but she left wiggle-room to allow her to argue with his answer, if he made any. And anyway, she'd know full well that as soon as she said he was abusive, all the usual SJWs would instantly listen and believe and presume the worst of him rather than actually properly parse what she said. You see the same thing with KickVic, where the actual, specific accusations are completely ignored in favour of 'they say he's a rapist pedophile, so that's what he is' - even though the key accusations against him are nothing of the sort.
I don't think she intended him to die, but I do think she threw him under the bus not caring how badly things would go for him, for the shit she was about to put him through. It's all mind-reading speculation at this point. But while I don't think she feels guilty for what happened, because she's a sociopath and/or certain in her mind that he deserved it, I do think she would be in panic mode, worrying about her reputation and carefully monitoring what is said about her so she knows who's still on her side.
Sadly, I imagine within a week or so she will reappear, feign an apology and sorrow, reinforce that everyone should remember
she (oh, and as an afterthought other women as well #metoo) is the real victim here, and on the off-chance that she loses any work because of it she might push it and mention how hard it has been on her, mentally and financially. Because as an added bonus, remember that
her mental illness means she's not at fault, and should be factored in to all her behaviours, but male mental illness can be dismissed and ignored, because men are just like that.
The other thing we probably should remember is, just like all the assholes taking his suicide as a sign of guilt, we're only speculating when we talk about Alec's motives for killing himself, barring any note or further communications from people close to him. About the only thing we can plausibly accept is that the call-out provoked him; why he did it we don't know. Hopefully we'll hear from someone other than his sister, though; even the VA with the pedo brother stood by his side when it was painfully obvious he'd been sharing CP. While there's room for her grief to be affecting her, it still leaves a very bad taste in the mouth that she felt the need to name-check Quinn positively.
I would like to know a lot more. I would like to know what these mysterious 'other accusations' are about, though I can't help but doubt what they'll say now that any accuser knows he'll never be able to respond. I want to know what sort of private messages Patricia Hernandez thinks she has from Zoe that makes her so certain she's telling the truth, especially considering she seems to have missed the idea that Zoe Quinn's BPD could mean she was lying and being overly dramatic several years ago as well.
And for my own amusement, I want to know if there's any private communications between the women who were trying to get #metoo going among game devs where they bitch about how Zoe has ruined everything for them by co-opting and corrupting the movement, and now they won't get any of the attention or money they were banking on. I imagine the off-mic conversations at Feminist Frequency could be quite revealing...
